Clerical Officer in the Civil Service 2022 | Civil Service - publicjobs.ie
Interview in February. Results a week after
Normal. I think heard back after 10 days. Well done and best of luck 😃
Dinka, are you going to try to contact anyone about the holidays or just wait until you hear more? I tried to make contact with the email I was given last week but heard nothing yet.
That was an intense interview ! I had prepped as much as I could but I wasnt expecting it to be so time driven - 6 minutes per competency. Now I continue with the waiting game .
Thanks. They never change the format so I had no surprises but nerves do get the better of me.
Hi, Does anyone have any information or experience working with Revenue as a clerical officer? What is the work like, training, flexi time options etc? TIA
I know it will be different with each department and flexitime etc, but can someone explain the actual hrs per day a clerical officer will typically work? In my contract it says not less than 43hrs 15 per week gross and 37hrs net. Does that mean lunch and 'tea breaks' add up to 6 hrs 15 mins a week, is it less on a Friday?
Are you allowed take a 30min lunch? I always found an hr too long and is it 2 15min breaks too per day? How long do we actually spend in the office per day? Thanks.
I am starting in Revenue Cork on the 28th of this month, where are you located?
7 hours 24 mins per day when you break it down. You need to make up the 37 hours per week during the week. Again this may vary but offices require you to be in the office between 10am and 12am and then 2pm and 4pm, your core hours. This may vary on different departments and needs. So for example you could work less than 7.24 hours some days if on flexi time. A 30 min lunch is the finest if not having to go down the town etc. Most work up hours at start of week and then come 4pm Friday are good to go.
You must work 37hrs per week (works out at 7hrs 24mins per day if u are working a 5 day week, but you could work a shorter day one day, as long as you make up the time on one of your other days). Breaks aren't included in those 37hrs.
For example, I currently work 8-4 and take a 30min lunch break. That means I work 7hrs 30mins (so I'm working up 6mins of Flexi each day / 30mins per week)
Generally you can start anytime between 8-10 and finish between 4-7, (obviously some departments might have set start times if they are public facing etc though).
Core hours are between 10-12.30 and again between 2.30-4, and you MUST work during core hours. Your unpaid break must also be taken outside of core hours. You can choose how long you want to take for break as long as it's at least 30mins and no longer than 2hrs. Your paid tea break is 10mins
Theres also talk of the working hours being reduced to 35hrs per week for all civil servants sometime this year but nothing is confirmed yet.
Thank you, the 43hrs and 15mins in the contract kind of threw me off, I thought I had to take an hr break but even at that that did not make up the difference between 43 hrs 15mins and 37hrs.
Thanks, that explains things pretty well!
I passed the interview and it says I have been placed 20th on the panel. But thats a drop from my previous OOM following the quiz.
I think thats how it worked in the past but I thought I read here that you retain your quiz OOM once you pass the interview.
Did I pick it up wrong or do different counties operate differently?
Waterford city. Would love to hear how you get on with training etc when you start as my start date isn't till June.
I will keep you updated for sure!
Summerdays22, as soon as i know anything I will let you know
Hi, I have an interview with Cork County Council for CO next week, is this the correct thread?
I was wondering if anyone has any tips for the interview at all?
Thank you
@_lightlightlight nope not the correct thread. This is civil service CO, not County Council
Know a little that is current for cork co co or local authorities in general. Overall budget would be good to know & names of directorates & which services they cover. You could be asked something like what services do cork co co provide or where does the council get their money.
No they use public jobs to advertise but use their own recruitment process. Leitrim short listed using a points system with no aptitude, & longford had an aptitude & called the top 66 for interview.
Are you 30s for longford cs after passing interview?
HI ! Does anyone know where the OOM for Dublin is at ? My last message was Code Of Conduct last month ? I am also on Meath panel?
@Hfelloni I'm early 700 did interview last week for dublin best of luck
Normal working hours was 35 until the economic crash. I still can't believe unions got 2.5hrs extra per week for no extra pay across the line. Regardless, CS pay reflects 35hrs, and the sooner those gratis hours are gone the better.
when is your interview? I was over 12 years in a council as a clerical officer, if you want to pm me i can give you a bit of info of more things they might look for.
