The key elements include six high speed charging hubs on motorways capable of charging eight vehicles simultaneously; 16 high speed charging hubs capable of charging four vehicles simultaneously; additional high power chargers at 34 current 50 kW locations; upgrading over 50 22 kW chargers to 50 kW, and replacing up to 264 locations with 528 charge points at the pre-existing pilot grade of 22 kW to next generation high reliability models.
Where am I going wrong with my Ioniq? When I charge it at a fast charger I'm lucky if it gets to 80% from 3% in 45 minutes! It's only a year old and had the battery replaced at the start of this year.
Is it the 38kWh Ioniq, in which case nothing wrong, the current gen Ioniq charges slower than it's predecessor
Oh I think so. It's a 211 and I still dream of the 320km range I was promised! I'd be happy with a guaranteed 280 range at this stage!
You have the Ioniq 39kWh, unfortunately its fast charging is far, far slower than the original Ioniq 28kWh
We'll have to wait and see how some current gen electrics hold up, my id3 82 Kwh for one.
My 2017 BMW i3 94 Ah after 4 year 7 month old and 135 odd Kms showed no signs of battery degradation and indeed the BMS also reported the same, unbelievable for such a small battery.
In reality batteries are so large now or can be that they'll probably last the life of the car. LiFeP04 while good lifecycle is less energy dense. It will be interesting to see how the heat tesla need to allow such fast charging impacts their batteries in the future. I for one am not worried either way about most EV batteries, or, at least those that have active cooling.
The BMW i3 has probably got the industries best cooling system, whether this has helped longevity I don't know, can't do it any harm. I don't know if they've applied this to their other electrics ?
Co2 won't kill you, it makes the planet green.
I wouldn't worry about fast charging LiFePo4. The base Tesla Model 3 has 60kWh and can charge at max 170kW. That's less than 3C. With throttling it will do that full speed for probably only 10-15 minutes. And a LiFePo4 can do 3C all day long with minimal impact on degradation. These packs will last the life of the car and then have another long life as home / grid storage.
Ain't one bit afraid of CO2 but when policy is to decarbonise transport it's not the best solution.
Ecars going to be a corporate member of ievoa. If you thought ecars bashing wasn't allowed before, you can be sure there won't be a bad word said about them now.
Possibly.
Alternatively it might mean ESB eCars actually wanting to work with the EV driver community.
Well at least there's an opening for direct communication between drivers and eCars
Working with or appearing to work with? Unfortunately I suspect it'll be the latter
Well I'm just listening to the AGM now on YouTube and hearing eCars being praised for their progress in Northern Ireland...
You mean apart from the Anna-bot?
Dear ecars, we want more units per site, and real hubs.
Ecars: increase the overstay fee you say? Gotcha
It's about balance. Remember when they were lambasting them annually for years when they did zero maintenance in NI?
Actually, me neither.
This is like a car review site getting sponsored by VW or something, you just can't expect any kind of honest discourse between IEVOA and Ecars if they're financially dependent on Ecars
Finally Sir Rogerson Quay charging spots are painted. The picture is from plugshare. Not going to debate the quality and such. It is just laughable it took them 5 months to paint that little e after 3 years of having there 2 chargers and never turning them on. I wonder if we will get a photoshoot anytime soon.
I dont understand why they arent green.
Next week
Fine work, reckon my kids can paint straighter lines than that 🙄
Shortages and hyperinflation, they can't afford green paint anymore
The guy that paints the green bits is off this week…. So only the white paint guy was in.
He did his white bits, but refused to touch the green paint for fear of upsetting the green paint guy……
It's not easy being green.
If I understand your request, you want to increase the overstay fee, right?
Only for ICEs.
Nevermind green, I don't understand why they haven't been painted in line with SI that requires them to be painted a particular way, this may as well be graffiti.
Lmao. But the overstay fee they have is perfectly awful. Only penalises those actively charging.
That's what I thought too, and argued as such in the IEVOA facebook group. Apparently the 2014 SI was revised in 2019 and this is the new standard?
Well we deserve it. What is wrong with a proper traffic sign. like this in NL or this in DE. And you can't install a charger unless you have the proper authorizations which also mean to erect the parking enforcement sign. How did they obtain the permission to install the charger without permission to have parking restrictions in place?
Without enforcement they are pointless. And when I mean enforcement I don't mean clamping.
I mean this
Lamborghini phevs are coming, maybe he wanted to test parking with the hoi polloi.
Wonder will ecars pass on the vat reduction again this time around?
