Watching Peskov on SKY News the other day was just infuriating.
"Russia committed x atrocity."
"...no we didn't."
That's not even good gaslighting. That's just what a 6 year old does when confronted over smashing a set of plates.
Fukking animals....with a bit of luck the russians will be eating grass for years.Leave the sanctions in place till they learn to behave like humans.
Yes, the theory is that it was done to try and stop civilians leaving the region and to keep them as 'human shields'.
How long can they keep this level of denial up? They're in a full scale war with their neighbouring state, perhaps tens of thousands of civilians have died and all they can say is "Nothing to do with us, Guv. The Ukrainian army must have killed them". They're not even admitting to collateral damage, never mind widespread atrocities by their forces. The whole thing is beyond surreal.
My theory is that they simply want to deUkranianize Ukraine, considering it looked like they were trying to either bury or deport any non compliant or potentially noon compliant locals. Can't have them getting away and then looking to get back to their homes in the future. It's why humanitarian corridors have not been respected constantly.
But it would make sense too that they know Ukraine wouldn't strike a city back as hard if they lost a city to the Russians that still contained their citizens.
Both theories are possible IMO.
Did they not initially admit to bombing the railway station then changed the mind when the dead started clocking up because you know they're only targeting military installations...
It's fairly clear, if you want to know what the Russians are up to you can just assume it's whatever they've accused others of.
Clearly Russia sending a message threatening Finland about joining NATO. I would hope that this time it might back fire and combined with the utterly evil atrocities they are committing daily since invading Ukraine that just strengths Finland's resolve and they join NATO.
I know Zelensky used to be a comedian but I think Lavrov fancies himself as a bit of a comedian himself....

@zv2 - At this stage the average Russian in Russia must know what's going on.
Not whilst Putin controls all the media.
Could not agree more. I have said that so many times how much they love living with the freedoms of our societies while at the same time denigrating them. If they love authoritarian dictatorships so much they should do us all a favour and go live in Russia, China etc.
This seems appropriate (don't think Russia really is up to going against the Finns)
Chinese are exactly the same (the ones with the money) - I wonder what ties the two countries together in such similarities...
Russia has banned Amnesty and Human Rights Watch.
Sounds like a clamp down on internal dissent. A message to the local population your either with us or your not. If your not, well you will be talking a fall from a balcony.
The corruption was by design thanks to the Russian state meddling. Once Ukraine began to shake off those shackles (Euromaidan) and move towards a fair and democratic society the Russians were clearly unhappy as their mafia business was becoming less effective. Now, here we are.
Wouldn't want anyone telling it how it is...but I see this as a rebuff in light of their removal from the Human Rights council, they really are that immature as to play this toddlers game of tit for tat
My 4 year old had a accident last week and came up with a better story.
"A dog came into my room and just done a poo!"
We don't have a dog.
Still more believable than anything these dickheads are coming out with.
Russia mobilizing 60,000 reservists to join the war in Ukraine: U.S. senior defense official

An Economist Journalist reckons Finland will be putting in a NATO Application at some point after the 14th of April
Even if Ukraine surrendered tomorrow the failure to stop NATO expansion reflects on just how poorly thought at the invasion of Ukraine has been.
They were stupid enough to invade Ukraine. Finland would be a much more difficult task owing to the terrain and the fact the Fins have the largest artillery in Northern Europe.
Not sure that is entirely true - complicated history of the past few years but Ukraine was certainly not some bastion of Western values but was moving that way, even Zelensky was remiss in his attitude to Russia
I'm reading that they labelled some well known people, including top university professors, as "foreign agents" today - I guess this would be anyone who dares criticise the regime.
The first one has become much less of a mere hypothesis and much more of a chilling reality, if that Russian newspaper article published recently is anything to go by. "DeUkrainianise" was the exact terminology used. Russia seeks to sledgehammer the nationalism out of the Ukrainian people until they're too tired and too broken to continue resisting and just be the good 'Little Russians' that Putin would like them to be.
However, generally speaking, attempting to rid a population of nationalistic feeling through blunt force achieves the very opposite.
A nice way for them to go. You'd almost feel sorry for them...almost.
Hungary could find itself in the naughty books with Brussels:-
Ukraine was nowhere near perfect by any means but they looked like they were finally on their way.
Hungary been sticking the middle finger to the EU for years now with their policies while reaping the benefits of being a member
Add child abduction to the list of crimes:-
Russian propaganda - look at us taking in all these orphans, sorry we meant to say all these kids we orphaned
