Anyone know what the bollards at the top of the folly are???
Are they similar to the ones across the road from Walsh pack on the lisduggan side, because I would love to know as well

Yes, there are some also after being installed adjacent the peoples park, across the road from De La Salle College.
They are going to be public hire bicycle locking stations. I asked the lad installing them near the park, he said you hire the bike, and drop them off at one the many locking installations around the city. The electric wiring going in to them has something to do with the locking mechanism when fully installed.
He said Coca Cola has some sponsorship with the ones in Cork and he reckons Waterford will be the same.
Would be nice of they were like the ones in the UK and mainland Europe, where you can leave the bike anywhere and the bike locks itself and you unlock the bike with an app rather than having to park them at a station.
installation seems to have come to a halt!
Doesn't seem like the most logical place for them in fairness.
Seems an peculiar place to put them alright..
Docks going into Arundel Square now.
They’re a scourge on the landscape of German cities. Bikes and E-scooters abandoned all over the place. Most uk cities are the same
dont seem to be too bad in dublin, not many robbed or discarded, as far as im aware
Sorry I was replying to the post by 914 forgot to quote it!:

They never really bothered me when abroad. That said is that is an issue then just place a load of mini stations around, where bikes can only be lockable in a specific area
now thats impressive tech, sounds like we should implement it here to
What about all the illegal parked cars on footpaths?
Funny how people don't get outraged by them
ooookkkkkkaaaayyyy! Not sure what that has to do with my post but from a cyclist’s perspective there’s nothing worse than illegally parked cars on footpaths cycle lanes.
as I clarified my post was in relation to the ebikes and scooters that lock wherever they land as opposed to requiring return to a docking station.
Great use of whataboutery there.
Yeah Dublin was an example many other cities tried to follow. I agree that the use of designated hubs has worked quite well.
Paris is getting to be the same going by my visit there last week.
They engineers were up at the top of the Folly, hooking all the electronics up yesterday. I saw one of the other depots around town was completed recently too; had the video screen hooked up etc... Hopefully won't be too many more delays now.
