Is this from the 2017 episode where he ripped into Trump for bailing on the 60 minutes interview? Colbert mentions 'we're not broadcasting' so this is something someone caught on their phone (probably in violation of the audience rules) and leaked 5 years later?

Gutfelds show is doing well and is clearly offering something that a specific segment of the market want.
But the people who enjoy watching Gutfeld are not the people that the other shows are competing with for the most part.
There is no one watching Colbert ,Seth Meyers , Kimmel ,Trevor Noah etc. that thinks to themselves "Lets watch Gutfeld".
Gutfeld is catering to the "MAGA" market that didn't have a "late night" show before and the rest sharing the other FAR larger audience between them.

It used to be that all the best comedians were exclusively on the left. The right had nobody. The objects of ridicule back then were the sanctimonious, hypocritical Republicans. Jon Stewart Daily Show back then was incredibly good. Hilarious and subversive. Illuminating as well.
The problem is that the wheel has turned. Comedy works best when punching upwards. But the left has won the culture war. It's been over for about 10 years. Nowadays the so-called liberals are the ones preaching and trying to control people's speech and behaviour. They are the new puritans, and they will destroy anyone who doesn't agree with them. The problem is that it's very difficult to be funny within this woke mindset. As a result, nobody watches any of those shows like Colbert, Trevor Noah etc. The leftist comedians create these strawmen and knock them down to great applause by people with questionable critical thinking skills.
The real interesting comedians now are not really comedians - Kyle Dunnigan, Gavin McInnes, Greg Gutfeld, Milo Yiannopolous etc. Even Tucker Carlson is more likely to generate a chuckle at the absurdity of the modern left than any of those leftist comedians.
