McGuinness is an EU Commissioner now. She's not likely to comment on them. She was an MEP back then (don't really remember what she said if anything about "big Phil" at the time he got in trouble, or what you are referring to there?).
As regards the terrible twosome in the EU (Mick Wallace and Clare Daly) not representing us or their electorate, well they do, even if their opinions on these issues are unpopular and may come as a nasty shock and feel like a betrayal now.
Irish people voted them in as their representatives and really should have known them for what they were or paid attention a bit more. Hopefully the electorate will take a lesson from it and will bother their behinds to vote in European elections in future, not leave the field to cranks, and not vote for some joke of a candidate to "stick it to the man" in an instiution (EU parliament) they seemingly have contempt for.
The joke candidates stop being funny when politicians start needing to deal with issues of life & death or war and peace etc.
The idea of kids spurred on by their parents and ratting out teachers. Like something out of the darkest days of the Soviet Union or North Korea. Shocking.
Fcuk me that's some line up of rogue states. "Feck Ukraine, we're anti America and even if it means backing our beloved genocidal Russians".
IF this fails (genocidal Russia waging war on civilians), what's the actual point of the UN? Wind it the fúck up and stop giving these failed states a platform that semi legitimises them.
Maybe we could send ukraine some turf to heat themselves if you get me....
Exactly where the fook is Mairead McGuinness the supposed brilliant FG export.
She was fooking quick to stick the knife into her colleague Big Phil, but not a peep out of her.
Nevermind Maria Walsh who is probably doing, well fook all.
Sean Kelly is probably trying to make sure he has tickets for Páirc Uí Rinn.
I would have thought the Greens would be all over this as they are so fond of banning stuff, especially fossil fuels.
Or maybe they just are waiting for their German colleagues to tell them which way to swing.
EDIT:
God be with the days when we had MEPs that had balls.
Remember how MEPs had a swipe at big old Ian when he harranged the pope.
The youngsters should look it up.
The strange thing is that it turns out that big old Ian, the bigotry boll***s, actually had a point about the Pope.
They're living in Orwell's 1984.
Ming is looking at the bigger picture.
One could say he is adopting a Healy Raesque approach.
Russian energy imports blocked, turf cutting is back in fashion. 😉
Agree! someone needs to stand up for us and let themselves be heard. Have not heard a peep from anyone.
The voting roll for that particular resolution is on pages 76 and 77 of this document:
Voters are given by surname only, and categorised as + (for), - (against) or 0 (abstain). Those not present or who don't cast a vote aren't counted at all. There were 552 votes cast, out of 705 MEPs in total.
Wallace's name is down in the - (against) list, quelle surprise. Clare Daly's name doesn't feature in the document at all, so she didn't actually vote (that is not the same as abstaining). From her Twitter, I can see she's in Greece today, supporting two Afghans on trial for people-smuggling. Although it's clear which way she would have voted.
Ming Flanagan voted for the resolution to block Russian energy imports. There seems to be a genuine change of heart in him since the invasion, although it should be pointed out that he foots his own turf.
Daly and Wallace are getting too complicated with this. Russians invaded and they need to be burned out of Ukraine. That's it. If they want to enlighten the world about their political reality map they can do it later instead of distracting from the main issue.
Are any of the other Irish MEPs calling the two c u n ts out?
I would hope after the mangey fooker gave her speech that another Irish MEP would immediately stand up and claim she in no way represents Irish people and that they think she is a disgrace.
I don't care if the MEP(s) are from FF, SF, FG or the raving Greens, I would applaud whoever had the decency to stand up and be counted.
As an absolute cretin, I feel thoroughly disgusted by your implied slander of my character.
Wallace voted against and looks like Daly abstained, disgrace to their country the two of them.
I share your utter contempt towards those idiots with their handbags, but this story shows there are still some very brave and admirable Russians who, unlike any of us, pay a very high price for speaking out:
Ming did a volte face to give him his credit. Being able to put your hands up and say you got it wrong is a rare quality in most politicians. I assume he hasn't about turned again...
The ones digging in now in the face of overwhelming evidence of Russia being 100% wrong here are now cementing their legacy and they will only have themselves to blame.
From an optics perspective Dalys statements being shown on Russian tv as being a supporter, her stance with Wallace, the PBP clowns in the Dail, and the failure of Ireland to send arms because of neutrality is not a great one.
I've seen some clear cut anti Irish sentiment across twitter. (In itself not a bastion of sanity but it can influence popular opinion).
It's a pity this clown is being given so much airtime and being viewed by some commentators as representative of us all when the opposite is true.
The pair of hicks should be ran from the country.
Absolute cretins.
I'd say Daly and Wallace see the negative response they're getting as an indication that they're ploughing the lonely furrow of righteousness. The more stick they get, the more they'll double down. Let them go cry in a corner and let the people who can see the bigger picture work around them.
Well he would not!!!! Get a fair hearing so he will not. And anyway they are all pro American???
Well we can guess who two of the 93 against are.
Clare Daly's voters take a hard look at yourself. This piece of work is a mouthpiece for Putin.
Moscow Mick and Kremlin Clare anyway. That's two !
Mick licking his fingers at Putin looking after his tax bills.
Clare Daly, who looks like she's been on the sesh for 4 days in Fibbers, can go and fcuck off.
Handy tool for determining veracity of official Russian statements
There's no disagreement about the need to do this, just a question over the timescale of it. It will happen, just not very soon.
Ya know what, at this stage, fcuck Russia's "threats" and "consequences". Bunch of uncivilized terrorists.
No gas, no oil, no coal about time. Giving them money to fund there war machine to reign terror across Europe comes to a end.
Some of the shells ricocheting of the tanks.
UN Vote due to happen shortly.
Edit: A two-thirds majority is needed to suspend them from the Human rights council, not counting abstentions.
Also - Russia has warned countries that a yes vote or abstention will be viewed as an "unfriendly gesture" with consequences for bilateral ties, according to a note seen by Reuters.
Eminently more sensible to have them empty first. Oil is the real cash cow for Russia.
