I was just thinking Ukraine should send some agents into Russia to steal a couple really large petrol or gas tankers, mine them, and drive them into the heart of Moscow and level some appropriate governemnt targets.
It's about getting alternative suppliers in place. Russian coal supplies to Germany account for 2% of world output so replacement will not be an issue.
We need to look at it another way
Coal and Oil can be sold by russia to other countries by various means so a ban by Europe has little effect.
Gas can only be transported via pipelines with the vast majority going into Europe.. So Russia cannot offset their gas
In 2020, Autralia was the worlds largest coal exporter at $33b in value. Russia was $12.5b. I have no doubt Australia could replace Russian coal in Europe, handily, just by redirecting what is currently exported to China. China is likewise Australia's largest customer for LNG and Australia has been wanting to cut dependence and ties with China so this is a once in a century opportunity to make drastic changes.

If I was Ukrainian I would be looking at ways to blow up those gas pipelines.
I looked into this a few weeks ago and it looks as If Australia might have the capacity to replace Germany's Russian gas imports if it stops exporting to China and Japan. I might be wrong as I have seen some semmingly crazy claims of how much gas flows to the EU per hour, but those numbers seemed extreme.
This green men with military vehicles with no markings and entire west just do what russia does deny everything "we havent a clue who they are" trow everything at them even put the spent rounds into a bucket with some c4 and throw it at em
Greece and Russia have a lot of connections over the centuries, not least with their religion. There would be a percentage of Greeks who would side with Russia. Far more than here.
Eminently more sensible to have them empty first. Oil is the real cash cow for Russia.
UN Vote due to happen shortly.
Edit: A two-thirds majority is needed to suspend them from the Human rights council, not counting abstentions.
Also - Russia has warned countries that a yes vote or abstention will be viewed as an "unfriendly gesture" with consequences for bilateral ties, according to a note seen by Reuters.
Some of the shells ricocheting of the tanks.
No gas, no oil, no coal about time. Giving them money to fund there war machine to reign terror across Europe comes to a end.
Ya know what, at this stage, fcuck Russia's "threats" and "consequences". Bunch of uncivilized terrorists.
There's no disagreement about the need to do this, just a question over the timescale of it. It will happen, just not very soon.
Handy tool for determining veracity of official Russian statements
Clare Daly, who looks like she's been on the sesh for 4 days in Fibbers, can go and fcuck off.
Moscow Mick and Kremlin Clare anyway. That's two !
Mick licking his fingers at Putin looking after his tax bills.
Clare Daly's voters take a hard look at yourself. This piece of work is a mouthpiece for Putin.
Well we can guess who two of the 93 against are.
Well he would not!!!! Get a fair hearing so he will not. And anyway they are all pro American???
I'd say Daly and Wallace see the negative response they're getting as an indication that they're ploughing the lonely furrow of righteousness. The more stick they get, the more they'll double down. Let them go cry in a corner and let the people who can see the bigger picture work around them.
Absolute cretins.
From an optics perspective Dalys statements being shown on Russian tv as being a supporter, her stance with Wallace, the PBP clowns in the Dail, and the failure of Ireland to send arms because of neutrality is not a great one.
I've seen some clear cut anti Irish sentiment across twitter. (In itself not a bastion of sanity but it can influence popular opinion).
It's a pity this clown is being given so much airtime and being viewed by some commentators as representative of us all when the opposite is true.
The pair of hicks should be ran from the country.
Ming did a volte face to give him his credit. Being able to put your hands up and say you got it wrong is a rare quality in most politicians. I assume he hasn't about turned again...
The ones digging in now in the face of overwhelming evidence of Russia being 100% wrong here are now cementing their legacy and they will only have themselves to blame.
I share your utter contempt towards those idiots with their handbags, but this story shows there are still some very brave and admirable Russians who, unlike any of us, pay a very high price for speaking out:
Wallace voted against and looks like Daly abstained, disgrace to their country the two of them.
As an absolute cretin, I feel thoroughly disgusted by your implied slander of my character.
Are any of the other Irish MEPs calling the two c u n ts out?
I would hope after the mangey fooker gave her speech that another Irish MEP would immediately stand up and claim she in no way represents Irish people and that they think she is a disgrace.
I don't care if the MEP(s) are from FF, SF, FG or the raving Greens, I would applaud whoever had the decency to stand up and be counted.
Daly and Wallace are getting too complicated with this. Russians invaded and they need to be burned out of Ukraine. That's it. If they want to enlighten the world about their political reality map they can do it later instead of distracting from the main issue.
The voting roll for that particular resolution is on pages 76 and 77 of this document:
Voters are given by surname only, and categorised as + (for), - (against) or 0 (abstain). Those not present or who don't cast a vote aren't counted at all. There were 552 votes cast, out of 705 MEPs in total.
Wallace's name is down in the - (against) list, quelle surprise. Clare Daly's name doesn't feature in the document at all, so she didn't actually vote (that is not the same as abstaining). From her Twitter, I can see she's in Greece today, supporting two Afghans on trial for people-smuggling. Although it's clear which way she would have voted.
Ming Flanagan voted for the resolution to block Russian energy imports. There seems to be a genuine change of heart in him since the invasion, although it should be pointed out that he foots his own turf.
