Clerical Officer in the Civil Service 2022 | Civil Service - publicjobs.ie
Dinka I am in the exact same situation, starting in Revenue in Cork and have holidays booked. I tried to make contact but have no contact details for a manager yet. Are you in Cork too?
Summerdays22 I'm in Louth. Let me know if you get any info please. When is your start date?
Sorry I looked back at your previous post and saw you had already said Louth. I am starting the 28th of April, I will let you know. Did you get any details yet if you will be training online or in the office. I heard nothing yet aside from my start date. Thanks.
No,nothing yet, although I'm starting in May. I'm counting on you to fill me in. Hopefully we will be ok with holidays!
Hopefully! 3 weeks from tomorrow until my start date I thought I would have heard by now.
The last group that started in Revenue Dundalk were in full time training in the office for 6 months.
Thanks for the info! Looks like holiday doesn't seem very likely.
Was this during the pandemic?
Yes, started in October 2021.
Sent away my references/ vetting last week. Have start date for May, don't know what department yet.
They emailed today asking is it okay to email my current employer today - they're away until tomorrow and said happy to wait until I speak with them first. How did other people find their employer took the news/ how did you approach them? I'm nervous because they have been good to me and I'm afraid it'll make a few awkward weeks until I leave?!
Thanks, it will probably be the same for Cork so.
Can I ask you what motivates you to take up the job in public sector then? Just curious as I'm in similar situation and changing the job will mean a paycut for me, so I guess I'm looking for confirmation I'm doing the right thing.
I told my employer the fact they have a pension plan was very important to me...It wasn't that bad after all, but I know, it's nerve wrecking.
Did you find the training tough? What is the atmosphere in the place like? Would you recommend it?
@Dinka I am in the same boat. I'll be taking a paycut starting off too. I suppose it's the security that is driving me - including the pension. I've been in my job for 3 years and I've got everything I will from it. Can't move any further in my position. I am also in the construction industry as is my partner, which I know is thriving right now, but what goes up must go down. Maybe I'm looking into it too much but security is a big push. Moving jobs is always a big decision and it's often hard to know if you're making the right decision - but I'm certain this is the right move! :)
Very similar boat anyway- I'm in construction too,so is my husband.
What county are you placed in?
Waterford - you?
Louth
How are people being contacted re available position/clearance etc, is it email or phone?
im apparently no 1 now for my chosen location, but haven’t heard anything yet, and am afraid any email is going to end up in spam and I’ll miss it 🙈
does contact come from PublicJobs or HR in the Dept you’re assigned to?
thanks.
That’s great, best of luck with the interview!
Guys what do I do if my current employer is another public service job, and my previous employer wouldn't be appropriate to request a reference for? If I tell them I can't provide current or most recent previous will they be ok? I have references available just a bit messy.
Same here, searching emails in case I missed it!
Do County Councils use the Public Jobs panels or do they conduct their own recruitment process.
Do you qualify for interview from application process or how does it work.
Best of Luck with Interview. Is that for CO position Grade 3 or Grade 4.
I'm in the 30s on Longford CS panel, so hoping to hear something soon also.
@Frostie24 was it long ago since you passed your interview and how long did it take to get your interview results if you don't mind me asking. Thanks
I started another civil service role a few weeks ago and didn't expect them to look for details as I never had them on my original form, the job kind of came out of nowhere! I'm a bit uncomfortable giving ref details as they barely know me to be honest.
On my clearance email it mentioned they will contact central Hr of the organization if currently in a civil service role, I'm hoping it's overall HR within the civil service, and not my dept if anyone knows???
It will be the hrm of your department, so if you are in the courts service it would be hrm in the resource management directories, if in AGS it would be Hrm in navan, if revenue it would be hr in the corporate services division I think
Hi all, does anyone have any idea of the order of merit they’ve reached for Dublin? I’m in the early 600s and had emailed a few days ago to ask but haven’t heard anything back yet. Many thanks!
Is it a bad sign that I’ve been waiting over a week for interview results or is this the norm?
@GMorgan Not a bad sign at all.
