Never had a problem charging at 6.6kW on their slow chargers though, maybe they should keep them in
Honestly if I actually needed to charge at a Lidl, I'd take paid DC charging over free AC charging any day.
Same here. I dislike taking out & putting away my charging cables neatly.
I love tethered charging cables. So much easier
6.6kW is nothing. If you were at a 50kW or more unit it could be more of an issue.
FYI entire easygo network is down at the moment, as I’ve just found out …
Sim connection issues, they can’t see any of the chargers and no eta on the fix. They don’t know what the problem is yet, but critical failure of the whole network is shocking. Surely there would be a plan b or disaster recovery plan in place?
no push notification to let users know.
stuck on an Esb 22kW for a while until I can get to ionity
where? which AC?
Some of the new ABB units appear online.
Did they forget to pay the phone bill?
Looks like all easygo operated units are offline. App will still show esb (roaming) units.
There was an outage with Three today wasn't there. They hardly use Three Sims for communication?
Yep, completely borked. So much for my avoiding Enfield spof…
I was at Kinnegad plaza.
spoke to them on the phone
Has ecars ever gone down (the entire network that is) ?
3 sims issue was mentioned…
😉
So easy never a problem
Yes, once. Years ago. Reports on boards at the time of someone plugging in at a services with a granny cable!
Easygo are a lot of problems. From illegal overcharging of customers to now this.
Wasn't that long ago. I think I was driving an EV at the time, so since 2019.
Prices at kinnegad seem to have gone up at some stage. Was 40c/kWh, now 57c/kWh. Prices vary by site, lidl pricing seems different. Touch to pay by credit card pricing is generally higher.
Chargers should go free vend when offline. I attempted to use easygo in Monaghan years ago and it did not work as charger was offline. Often phone networks go down in storms, and multiple phone networks can go down together as typically they share the same hilltop, and when the hilltop has a power cut during a storm all mobile networks in the area go down. Their tritium chargers automatically reboot when offline, but they just keep rebooting when phone network down.
Are Lidl part subsidising the cost at their sites????.
That would be a logical thing to do if Lidl think it helps attract more EV drivers to their shops.
The risk I see with that is Lidl deciding in the future that you need to actually go into the shop in order to use the chargers.
Yes they do. They pay the whole bill at the AC chargers which are currently free and the DC are also 12c/kWh cheaper than the rest.
Yes. At sites with 50kW DC chargers you pay to use them, and it makes sense to pop into the shop to grab a few things even if you are not doing your weekly shop. Newer lidl sites seem to be all 50kWDC chargers, in the UK some providers such as IKEA give discounts if you shop in-store off your charging fee. Dual pricing for customers and non customers who spend less than 20 euro may make sense. They often do similar with ICE and parking fees such as Tesco dundrum refund your parking fee if you spend more than X euro in store. If you buy one or two items you pay to park.
I think they should charge for the use of the charger and then offer €5 (or an appropriate figure) back against your shopping, like they do with parking in the likes of Dunnes.
Lol, that was the missus in the wee hours at Enfield services, they let her put the Granny through the service hatch to get a charge
Talk of the first easygo phonebox charger going live in April. Somewhere in Carlow they say.
Excellent.
This could be a bit of a game changer for rural Ireland as there are a lot of towns and villages that if they had a 30-50kW DC charger, would be of huge benefit for them for A. Locals B. People visiting the locals and C. transit traffic for local cafe's/shops/restaurants etc...
I just hope they can push on and install in the sort of numbers they initially quoted.
Imagine a DC charger in every town in the country... and never being more than 10-15km away from another DC charger.
It will be an improvement for the likes of Wild Atlantic Way. But I have to say I'm not happy about single use new charging points installed anywhere in 2022.
I hope the chargers will be something like 2xCCS and 1xCHAdeMO of which any two can be used at given time. And maybe another AC socket for the hybrids but installed so that a car parked there for several hours don't impede with the DC parking spots.
I'm also a big fan of per minute overstay charge and the default 80% charge limit to ensure people are not parking on these like what happens today with "some" of the competing networks.
would be nice if they did something with there app its pretty poor imo.
Lol. They've only just revamped it. Not a major revamp, but it was worse.
Charging 60c/kWh they wont need to do much with their app as no one will use them much anyway.
I think the new batch is up to 75kW depending on site supply, and 1x CCS and 1 X chademo. Easygo have said 2 charger sites don't make financial sense due to grid connection costs and usage of second charger. I agree with the idea single chargers are worse than half the number but 2 per site.
From November 2021 Facebook on easygo future sites. Any Carlow residents want to go on a treasure hunt?
This is the RT50 mentioned

I assume where the Captur will be the spot for the BOI one.
