Apparently "break a leg" in theatre comes from hoping that you get so many ovations that the curtains have to be brought up and down and the "legs" that manage the curtains break!
Also, in France they say "merde" and that's because it was hoped that the play was so successful that many, many people coming in from the horse-shite strewn streets would drag said shite all over the floor and the theatre would be full of "merde".
The furthest south that polar bears live all year round is James Bay in Canada.
It is roughly the same latitude as Cork.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo is about 28 times the size of Ireland, or bigger than Spain, Portugal, France, Benelux, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Germany and Poland combined. It will soon have a population of 100 million people. Huge country.
But it's coastline is only about the same length as the coast from Howth to Dalkey.
There's an area roughly the size of Co. Kilkenny between Egypt and Sudan called Bir Tawil that is claimed by neither country. The reason is both countries claim the true border is from different maps drawn up by the British Empire in the late 1800s and early 1900s. There's another more valuable area in dispute nearby, the Halib Triangle, that if either country claimed Bir Tawil they would give up their claim on the Halib Triangle.
It also has only 1500 miles of paved road (possibly excluding roads in cities; I'm not sure)
There's around 600 miles of motorways alone in Ireland by comparison. Then dual carriageways, national roads, back roads...

If Lough Neagh was in Asia it would be the 21st largest lake.
In Africa it would be in the top 25 permanent lakes, but they have many that fluctuate according to wet and dry seasons. (A form of turlough if you will).
FWIW Lake Victoria is only marginally smaller than the 26 Counties.
