For sale is this Cinelli hobootleg touring bike. A classical style touring bike with canti brakes, triple front ring and bar end shifters. Included in the sale is everything you need to go touring! Two large rear pannier bags and a trunk bag for the top of the pannier bag. This bag attaches on a rail, so is rock solid. I have taken this bike on a tour from Holyhead, Wales to Glasgow, Scotland and back in this configuration. The original tyres are included as spares, but it is fitted with a pair of fast 35mm tyres. I fitted a 30-11 cassette, but the bike can fit a 34-11 (thats what it is sold new with).

Unfortunately my cycling is going in a different direction, so I'm unlikely to use this and would prefer someone got some use from it.

Some of the mudguard mounts came loose and are held with zip-ties. It makes no difference to the bike while cycling. The chain, cassette and chainset have only done a few thousand km, but the bike could do with a service, e.g. the handlebar tape is a bit tatty. I have reflected this in the price.

Size wise: Its a 56cm and I'm 178cm and is suits me fine.

Price including all accessories is 650. I would prefer to sell as a package

I meant to ask you about the shifting cos I couldn't understand from the pics of the levers, but I see the bar end setup now! Are the shifters STi (like a click for each gear) or older school change by feel (if you get me).

What's the crank length?

When you say the bike is due a service I wouldn't be concerned about aesthetics like bar tape but in terms of mechanical consumables does it need a new cassette, a headset, bottom bracket, brake pads, cables etc all that kind of stuff that could add several hundred quid to the purchase price?

In terms of the cabling itself visible on the frame and down the stays, is that how it's supposed to look?

Shifting is on the bar-end levers. The right (rear derailleur) is index shifting, while the left (front) is friction shifting (by feel).

Crank length is 175mm

Everything is working on the bike, but the headset needs greasing. There is no play in it, it just feels a bit stiff. I changed the cassettes and chain about 1000km back. I have checked the chain and it does not need replacing. The extra chain is included in sale because I dont have any other 9 speed bikes. Brake pads are good. No play in the bottom bracket, this was checked by the shop who replaced the front chain rings about 2k ago. Gears and brakes are working fine and the wheels are true.

The cabling on the bike is all original. The idea of that (and the bar-end shifters) is that its easy to replace in the back of nowhere. It also has 2 spokes on one of the chain-stays, but the wheels are bullet-proof.

I'll add that the pedals are Shimano PD-A530 dual-sided. One side is flat for normal shoes and the other is Shimano MTB cleats. For touring, MTB cleats are much better because they are metal and are recessed into the shoe. Compared to road cleats, its almost impossible to wear them out. I have the same cleats on my shoes for over 30,000 km. Its also a lot easier to walk around on these shoes, which you are more likely to do when touring.

I bought this in 2017, previous owner had used it for a single tour and had done less than 1k on it. According to Strava, I have done 9,600km on it.

Is it a Shimano groupset? I can't quite see from the pics. The crank length would be an issue for me, what's the crank and bottom bracket would you know?

Thanks for all those answers. I'd love it for the craic for the summer but the timing isn't great. I'd have to view the bike and with Easter holidays I won't be able to do so for at least 3 weeks and I can't expect you to hold it for me for so long. So I'll withdraw my offer to clear the way for any other interested parties and if you still have it in 3 weeks time I'd definitely be up for arranging a viewing.
