I'd love Sweden to pony up some cv90s ifvs and some of their archer rapid firing truck mounted artillery kits
Tbh the Ukrainians are capturing better equipment than that from the Russians.
I'd prefer to seeing some drones like Reapers ending up with the Ukrainian armed forces. They'd really make a difference.
I'd go out on a limb and say selling meaning like a euro or something. Plausible deniability to supplying what for some reason the EU and NATO deem as offensive equipment rather than defensive.
They all seem very reluctant to been seen to supply anything that can be deemed as offensive. Which is odd because I'd find NLAWs and stingers to be pretty fckn offensive.
There is a new version of the reaper that can carry 16 hellfire missles and two miniguns packing 5000 rounds and still be able to loiter for 20 + hours over a Battlefield ,
They would be a massive game changer to the Ukrainans , especially with that amount of firepower on tap
Apparently the Mi-28 that was shot down earlier today was the 1st victim of the UKs Starstreak missile system that has been donated to the Ukrainians in the last few weeks.
Give the population 10 years of this **** and Putin gone as a basic criteria to reintegrate into a functioning society.
They have an arrogance about them after many years of propoganda. Some hardship might turn that.
This tap could be shut off fairly lively. The west and it's companies still retains the knowledge.
You can't really compare a private Czech company to the Australian government.
If anyone asked me at the start of this as I watched Mark Chapman at Maidan give his updates to the background of air raid sirens, would Kyiv survive - I would have said God bless that city and it's people, it's going to be levelled. And the metros and the kids and everything else. But fight on to the next end.
To be where they are today is a significant **** yessssss!!!!!!!
Zelenskiy, you are a **** hero. Make no mistake, without that leadership it would not be possible.
So brave, make no mistake - countless lives have been saved by not rolling over and succumbing to a perceived superpower.
**** any posters who were saying "it's only a matter of time, they should give in" Fu(k you guys, I wouldn't want to be in a trench with you self serving fu(ks. Life and civilization is bigger than our 80-90 years on this planet.
The UK sent their Sky Sabre air defence system, which is the newest system of all, to Poland, trained the ukrainians in it's use and it was mentioned days ago it was being shipped across the border. This is in addition to the starstreak high velocity AA missile system and Slovakia sending an S300 system.
It's a good start but more of everything is needed.
Wouldn’t get too excited just yet.
That would make it the first time it has ever actually been used in combat since it was first fielded.
Ukraine are probably just messing with the Russian heads. Putin might start thinking it's Lukashenko or the Chinese yet. I've heard the paranoia is deep.
FS. Germany are the nation equivalent of that guy who puts all his old rubbish for sale on Adverts.ie just to get rid of it.
Huh? Where was anything ever said about Sky Sabre being in Ukraine? Or that Ukraine were being trained on it?
The Sky Sabre system literally only began deployment to Royal Artillery regiments as of January 2022; it was deployed to Poland in lieu of Patriot Batteries which the UK do not currently operate.
Training Ukraine to use Sky Sabre wouldn't make much sense because there are very few units in existence; even if they were to send all of those they had available to Ukraine.
The system that Sky Sabre is replacing is much more commonly available and would be a more reasonable option: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rapier_(missile). However there is zero indication that I've seen that it is even being considered; which is counter to how the British MoD handled the Starstreak training and transfer.
I understand where you are coming from.
I'm hopelessly optimistic. Hoping that rodent in the Kremlin has cut his losses and scurried off with the tail between his legs.
Not a chance he goes that easy.
Well, if he does lose it completely, and orders a nuclear strike ( even a so called limited one) That's it, that's his ace card played. NATO will attack, and in a matter of days, whatever Russian Military is still in Ukraine, will be wiped out. And if he orders a 2nd nuclear strike,,,, then the world as we know it is gone. The fate of mankind is resting in the hands of some Russian Officers with their hands on the Nuclear buttons, if they will press them or not, as they did once before.
I am not a fan of Boris by any means, but fair play to him.
Of any country out there, the UK is doing the most to support Ukraine. Unlike Germany which is supplying clapped out East German sh1t that was rotting in a bunker, or the French who are still trying to negotiate with Putin, the UK are actually providing the means for Ukraine to defend itself.
Germany isn't actually selling anything. They are merely giving the OK for a private Czech company to sell it.
These numerous reports of war crimes are going to prove hugely problematic for Russia going forward. Even their lying, disgusting "media" won't be able to keep a lid on this for too much longer and it will become common knowledge in Russia (given that it is all happening in their neighbouring country). Very likely too that Putin will be indicted as a war criminal.
These videos are good for tracking troop movement
I would not be too sure about that.....certainly you have the, military chain of command , Putin orders, and its up to them to carry out his orders. They handle the nuts and bolts of the operation, but would they go against him if he gave a direct order? Now that's the 64'000 dollar question.
Expensive coffins. I wouldnt get in one in a fit. I'd go full Rambo first.
Yeah in that moment there could literally be a guy with a gun standing behind them to make sure they press the button. Maybe the guys in the chain have all be promised evacuation to a bunker if the missilies go up.
Ah, so it was accidental then !!!🙄
We have no idea what would happen in that case, if WMD means a nuke. Using a nuclear weapon makes no logical sense as an offensive first strike because you could end up triggering more than one type of chain reaction. And as we know, an all out nuclear exchange would inevitably lead to, if not the end of life on Earth, certainly the end of life as we know it. That's the stakes an underling in the Russian army would have to think about when deciding to enact that kind of order.
Well, the words Nuclear Strike are being bandied about often enough recently from the Russian side. They have already excused themselves from the pledge of not being the first to use nuclear weapons, so it all depends on what circumstances they would consider as being "qualifying" for them to be first to go nuclear.
Could private interests buy planes for Ukraine, if other countries won’t provide them?
