Reseeding 2022

Anyone planning to do any grassland reseeding this year. Have a couple of fields underperforming and would like to do them. I know it will be expensive, but I guess there is a cost to not doing them also, and if cattle numbers are reduced a bit, then wont miss the grazing/silage as much.

Would be hoping min-till after July/August

Will continue as planned. Reseed with prg plus white clover on grazing block, will try a red clover mix on part of outfarm.

A Large field needs drainage work but I won't be able to stretch to it this year I reckon, so will do areas with the fastest turnaround in the next 4 weeks and reassess after that.

reseeding 18 acres of silage ground here as the grasses in it are burnt out since it was intensively cut since sown in 2005,..putting 8 acres in a red clover/prg/white clover mix and the rest in a 1 cut and graze mix,..sprayed it off 10 days ago when it was mild so hope to sow it in the next fortnight be hoping to see it emerging around the 1st of may

It's a grass mixture with no clover just grass seed. Think I have a bag of multi species in the shed I'll check

Do you think Iv i was to do it and reseed it with grass and added in some oats to bulk it up and to also cut my meal bill next winter would it work out or would I lose my grand and would it make good feeding for 400-500kg store cattle

Yes but it can be tricky due to it being a naked seed. It doesn't have a N capsule around it like the white clover

It's really 70% grass anyways. You can sow it the same as grass mixes and time frames. I'm sowing it today just to get it out of the way on overwintered ground. Disced the area yesterday and going to run over it now with the guttler when it dries up later on

I dont qualify for the dept grant. Only got it last week. Sowing it as an experiment atm. If it does OK I'll do a few more acres later in the year

Still a novice to multi species myself but I did sow about 40 acres of it for lads last year
