Just curious, what's the difference between the 27X and 27 from the city to Clarehall? As far as I can make out it stops at every stop like a 27. Not so much a express.
There are a couple of notable differences. Judging by Google maps, the 27X has only 1 stop between Donnycarney and Connolly, whereas the 27 has numerous. Also, I don't think the 27X is meant to be a faster alternative to the 27; it is moreso meant to be a direct route to UCD for those living in the clongriffin corridor

No it doesn’t.
It serves all stops from Clare Hall to Donnycarney Church, then Fairview footbridge, and then Connolly Station. It misses out 11 stops served by the 27.
Outbound it serves the stop at Busaras, then Marino College, then Donnycarney Church and then all stops to Clare Hall. It misses 10 stops served by the 27.
Surely there's someone in Clontarf you could ask this?

In theory LXFlyer but if someone pushes the bell it will stop. Maybe the marked in drivers are not been strict enough or its not worth the hassle.

Wouldn't there be something insurance-related by that point, if something happened while dropping off at a stop that's not scheduled for that service? At least it's a proper stop location, but still?
You also pay full whack no matter if your going 1 stop or all the way to UCD.
I would imagine it would be covered by the fact the bus is stopped at an actual bus stop as opposed to just the side of the road.
Drivers can't be expected to memorise the exact location of each and every bus stop for the route they are driving especially if they are driving different different routes every day when the default for most drivers would be to stop at every stop when outside the city centre. Of course this could be blamed on a lack of training.
I can't speak for Clontarf Universals, but Broadstone and Phibsboro workings had a rather rough listing of the stopping locations on their running boards for the N4 Expressos - so at least those garages provide the information. Clontarf have the one Expresso left to their name anyway, since Harristown took over the 32X.
the 27X stops at every stop, and it's down to lack of driver education, they're often thrown onto a new route they barely know and don't have a list of stops... plus if they don't stop to let people off then they'll get fierce abuse from some passengers...
Surely the running board tells them which stops to bypass?
As for passengers giving out - that’s their tough luck surely?
Not saying all drivers do that, but DB do throw a lot of drivers on the route who will stop for anyone who sticks out their hand...
Yea I imagine that once or twice you can listen to some passenger shout abuse at you, after a number of times you'd probably just stop your bus.
Is it like this with other expressos aswell?
I know in the case of the 84x anyways, I've seen a driver pick people up at stillorgan going northbound (meant it be drop-off only) before. Now this was during one of the off-peak services mind you, drivers most likely don't do this during rush hour
