Copyright up the roundabout in Manor has been taken over by the Brand Geeks.
An Bord Pleanala has refused the new access road from Killarney Road/N22 roundabout on the Tralee Bypass into Manor West Retail Park despite KCC approving it. Two adjacent agricultural landowner objectors said it would adversely affect their private access/ egress. Traffic and rat run considerations were also cited for the refusal.
Shame as I believe this road would've relieved a lot of congestion around Killerisk and N21 as Killarney/ South Kerry traffic bound for Manor would have an alternative route.
On the subject of traffic.. I note that the council have put bollards outside the Sports Direct shop in town and yet the taxis insist on continuing to park there.. why do these people think they are above the law, and can park or pull up wherever they like...
Was in town yesterday. What's the construction along the canal? Just regular maintenance? Also, seemed like Tesco at Manor West had fewer choices? Several things we regularly find there, weren't to be seen. Maybe they reduced shelf space to widen the aisles?
They are doing work on the walls of the canal.
They are redecorating Tesco so it's up in a heap to be honest! Lots of stuff moved around and obviously less space due to different sections being redone.
I heard a rumour a few weeks ago that JP Reidy's in Killarney had taken over the old Horans nightclub and were going to reopen it as a nightclub. Not 100% sure how true that is, but the last 2 times I was in Dunnes Horan Centre in the last week, there has been work going in in there. Someone was painting the entrance to it today! Would be good to see it reopen.

A detailed planning application gone into the council for Quinlans bar on Bridge Street seeking to renovate the premises/introduce beer garden etc. Will be nice to see another premises on that street brought back to life!
The Range have also sought planning permission for a garden centre to extend from the north of their store in Manor.

I notice there's a planning application in to significantly extend Dealz by subsuming the two adjacent vacant units beside it on Abbey St and the adjacent vacant unit at the back.
Even as a blow in I know that horans was a kip and did nothing but give the area untold grief with anti social behaviour.
Why? I was talking to one of the staff in there recently querying why they closed so early. Its to avoid the hassle of the pubs. They're hardly going to open up for the drunken, drug fuelled louts coming out of a nightclub
We're talking about the pub Quinlan's which has been closed down for several years, rather than the fish and chip shop.

It wasn't a kip! I went there for years and years, always had great nights out there! I rarely went to the brandon or spirals. You may have perceived it as a kip, but many didn't!

You seem to have a chip (no pun intended) on your shoulder about nightlife with your very negative comments about the provision of entertainment options later in the evening. Should all nightlife be outlawed in Tralee for the decent majority in the event a minority may cause a bit of hassle?
I don't recall Horans being synonymous with any significant antisocial behaviour at any stage and I'm not a blow in so can attest to fact rather than hearsay.
I had been coming up and down to Tralee when horans was in its hayday.

I used to like horans when I was going there but it was a nightmare for people living nearby, particularly student nights and rag week was terrible altogether
Don't want to be coming across as down on students having fun or anything but damage to parked cars was very regular and it hasn't happened once since hotans closed
Unfortunately that kind of thing can happen wherever there's a nightclub. Its not fair or respectful, but I'm sure the same was said when the Brandon/Spirals nightclub was open and Fabrik. I bet the residents in Princes street are also glad there's no nightclub there anymore! But Horan's wasn't a 'kip' as the other poster seems to think it was. I have so many good memories of nights out in Horans. I remember paying into Fabrik, and leaving to go to Horans as I just never liked the place! Obviously ever nightclub is going to encounter issues but it doesn't make a place a kip.

Of course you’re entitled to your opinion. But you are basing your opinion based on a minority of trouble makers coming out of a nightclub at 2am. The place wasn’t a kip though, in my opinion (and most people I know!).
I find "anti-social behaviour" is often a phrase used to describe people socialising in ways the utterer disapproves of.
Don't engage the troll, the same poster has a history of sh*t-stirring on this thread looking for reactions with their "edgy" humour.
