My point was that in italy the restrictions are still in place after 2.5 years. For people living and working in Italy, the "nearly" and the "a lot" don't change the fact that freedom hasn't been given back. Is it permanent? who knows, it sure has lasted longer that it should have

What would be the real reason for making these measures permanent.

Why do you believe that Italy, and only Italy might have permanent measures?
Why are you concerned about the measures being permanent there when they have not been permanent anywhere else?

They are lifting some of the restrictions, that's hardly freedom.
Freedom is when people are free again, the same as before Covid

So being free to decide to take a vaccine or take tests or not make use of certain services if they are not prepared to test or be vaccinated means that they are not free to decide what to do?

they are completely free to decide for themselves... as with everything, there are consequences to all decisions.
In italy you can get a fine and you will be suspended from work with no salary for not complying to the mandates. That's not freedom
For the 1000th time, this isn't about "freedom".
These are temporary measures to deal with a pandemic, some countries have stricter rules (for a variety of factors) and other countries have more relaxed rules. Normal people understand this. Paranoid individuals don't. They equate this with "secretly evil tyrannical governments" trying to enslave/control/whatever them. Most of these paranoid individuals have stopped posting in these threads because they were all wrong, but some are clinging onto any country they can find which still has some restrictions.
yeah its gas... the mandate is there in order for hospitals to actually "have the freedom" to deal with all they other health issues they need to, and not be overly burdened with covid related issues in the cohort which are most likely going to be hospitalised.

The minor inconvenience of wearing a mask to stop spreading a virus to other people is not discrimination. Requiring people to be vaccinated for certain situations during a global pandemic is not discrimination. A surgeon having to wear a mask during surgery is not discrimination.
You really need to stop equating common sense measures against viral infection with "freedom" and "discrimination".
