  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,013 ✭✭✭Billcarson

You should be thankful that ffg have fcuked away everyones future,to line pockets of forgien landlords, people straving and being fed nightly on our streets

Homelessness at levels not seen since famine times,to think, they managed to turn an oversupply to this spectacle in half a generation, imagine the mess we will be in,if they cling on for another election cycle

They have utterly destroyed virtually all social tracking data,to provide a workforce and renting class desperate for survival for forgien businesses.....

we have a health service that collaspes if 100 or so extra people get sick, some of the most over-crowded schools in the western world,an ethic minority with lowest literacy and life expectancy levels in europe,we have an utter sham of direct provision still being perpetuated,we drag dying cervical check woman through the courts, our infrastructure is on brink of collaspe across the state,we have covid utterly out of control again and government have decided its too much hassle to try save peoples lives....anyone dare and qs any of the above or rest of litany issues in the state is smeared and attacked as a waster/complainer

I honestly believe,we as a country deserve,so so much better of a government than this mess, irregardless of who it is,id sooner see anyone (incl national party-whom i disagree with),in power than be associated with perpetuating this mess

Most other countries (incl NI),young adults stuck living at home are counted as homeless

This upcoming census, will give us a proper idea of the level of diaster for youth in the country right now

Faith and politics is a bad mix. They don't belong together.

I don't believe any party are to be 100% trusted. That is why we all want proper accountability and checks and balances that are effective and where nobody can hide.

The track record of the power swap is there for all to see though and on accountability the record is pretty shameful.

It is time for the system and how we are governed to be shook up. I will be voting to end the power swap.

If you feel so strongly you should then try and change by becoming a politician yourself. Any politician I have met is trying to do good. No matter what people say. They go into the role with a plan to make decisions and make a difference. Of course they hope to move up the ranks and get more responsibility like anyone does when in a job, that is natural.

I find it strange that people complain constantly about politicians but then have no interest in doing their job, you need no qualifications to become a TD. It's a popularity contest after all.

The obsession Ireland has with politicians is strange, they are almost like our superstars because the other option is RTE who really does anyone thinks Tubs is a star?

You can turf out the current parties and if the majority want that it will happen, that is the beauty of our system and one that not everyone in the World is allowed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,242 ✭✭✭brokenangel

Yeah yeah, you call for accountability and then you support a party who have no accountability for anything. Just a small problem for you but no surprise

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 81,355 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

    Deflect deflect and deflect.

The party I voted for have not been in government here so their test on accountability is to come.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,677 ✭✭✭Floppybits

Not necessarily true that if the majority want it then they can turf out the incumbents. All we can do is vote for whomever we want and then it is up to the politicians to form a government. So as we have seen the party that wins the most seats don't necessarily form a government if the other major parties come together to prevent them forming a government.

"Any politician I have met is trying to do good."

I am glad you haven't met any of these recent self serving TDs and Senators

    Alan Farrell (FG)

    Dara Murphy (FG)

    Michelle Mulherin (FG)

    Maria Bailey (FG)

    Fidelma Healy Eames (FG)

    Hugh McElvaney (FG)

    James Reilly (FG)

    Phil Hogan (FG)

    John Perry (FG)

And I haven't even mentioned Crony Coveney (FG) or Leo the Leak (FG) or Lowry (ex-FG)

    New Politics indeed.

oh cry me a river 🤣

Based on the supporters of the opposition they will be sitting on the outside next time as well.

FF and FG should be thanking the brilliant work from the SF online supporters not only in driving people back to them but also making sure no party will ever want to go into government with them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 81,355 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

'back to them'??? FG are at their lowest ever poling figure, FF are at 16%

You really need to come live in the real world.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,242 ✭✭✭brokenangel

If the party has no accountability when not in government why would you think they will have it when in government when they have nobody but themselves to answer to?

Bit of a faux pas mentioning accountability 🤦‍♂️

It’s a list of TD and former TDs , not sure what your point is? Because of you want to start firing out names and problems we could be here a LONG time

If you think you can do better off you go…I’m sure any party would welcome you in

What ever you are smoking can you share it? SF supporters driving people back to FF and FG are you having a laugh. I could say that behaviour of FFG supporter are driving people away from FFG with their arrogance and reluctance to actually defend the government and rely on delfection tactics. We see a lot of that on here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,242 ✭✭✭brokenangel

Do we need to repeat the same conversation from a few days ago, the promise of demise has been plentiful since the government formed….broken record as I said before

    Accountability 🤦‍♂️

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 81,355 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

They have answered for everything they have done, just because it isn't the answer you want doesn't negate that.

But if it helps you to deflect from issues to do with the government on the government thread, on you go. I am not risking a ban over it.

My point is if you vote for FG, you condone the actions of several of their members.

Pick any one of them and I will explain how they defrauded the taxpayer or other citizens/businesses or committed acts of corruption. I'll start with the bottom one who you may not have heard of.

    John Perry (FG)

On 10 March 2011, he was appointed by the Fine Gael–Labour government as Minister of State at the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation with special responsibility for Small Business.

In July 2012, he was the subject of some controversy over his claims for mileage expenses for official duties including a claim for 4,417 km of mileage in a month during which he only had two official appointments and another monthly mileage claim which averaged 344 km per day for every day he was in Ireland. In that latter month he was abroad for 9 days.

John Perry claimed the most of all government ministers in mileage allowances in 2011. The Sligo-North Leitrim TD claimed €31,866 in mileage allowance.

On 22 July 2013, Perry and his wife consented to a judgment of €2.47m against them at the Commercial Court over unpaid loans to Danske Bank. In September 2013, Perry confirmed that he had reached an agreement with Danske Bank, in relation to his outstanding loans. In March 2013, it was reported that Perry hired his wife, Marie, as a parliamentary assistant, contrary to government statements on appointments.

    ................

Who do you want to do next? I can do them all.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

    Now who is lying

Anyway just making a point about accountability. As I said a bit of a faux pas

Would you be happy to vote for SF knowing to go into government it would be with FF? One of the "power swap" parties you despise so much? If not how do you see the next formation in 2025? As another poster said earlier the numbers don't appear to work otherwise.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 19,002 ✭✭✭✭Ha Long Bay

Maybe we should setup a new reeling in the years thread?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 81,355 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

The power swap's record on accountability is abysmal, you cannot defend it so you deflect.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 14,990 ✭✭✭✭Cluedo Monopoly

I listed elected FG politicians since 2011. Truth hurts eh 😉 Put those blinkers back on quick and don't look back in anger.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 14,990 ✭✭✭✭Cluedo Monopoly

And yet the word 'accountability' is used 18 times in the New Politics document.

I mean the New Politics lie.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 81,355 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

It is the toxicity of the power swap I despise. I have voted for both FF and FG in the past (as I have said)

I have no issue with a coalition as long as it isn't a power swap type coalition where FF and FG are just looking for whipping boys and girls who will carry the can for them.

As long as a programme for government can be agreed I am happy to give it a go.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 81,355 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

Absolutely. If the FG and FF fans want to know why they are on the slide they only need to look at that tissue of lies from Enda.

They won't realise the damage it did until it is too late though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 14,990 ✭✭✭✭Cluedo Monopoly

Who do you want to do next brokenangel? I believe I covered Dara Murphy (Cork FG) yesterday but I can repeat it if you missed it.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 19,002 ✭✭✭✭Ha Long Bay

Ill be honest your post makes no sense it's just the usual buzz words of "toxic power swap"

So I will try again are you happy to vote for SF knowing they will need to go into government with FF or FG to form a stable coalition?

Are you not concerned this will start a new "toxic power swap" in the future?

Yes to being happy if a programme for government is agreed.

No, to being worried about a new power swap.
