Not buying it ,
Sooner or later the Ukrainians are going to want blood in return for what they have been put through by the Russians considering how much of the population are armed I'd say it's eventually going to blow up and people are going to get revenge .
Morals or not
They can extract that blood by shooting at or blowing up Russian soldiers, i.e. the ones who are putting the Ukrainian people through the ringer. Doing a fair job of it so far.
I'd be surprised if their solution was to bomb their own cities and territory in crimea and donbass as you advocate
And even Ukrainians know that to bomb russian cities would provoke far worse retaliation on themselves. It seems Gatling is the only one unaware of that fact.
Yes, but any found will have to be professionally removed. I've seen cluster munitions that had yellow colored parachutes, so at least they were visible. But there are ones that do not have this "Hi-Vis". And they remain "Alive" for many years, which is why there is a movement to have them totally banned. And the sooner the better.
I absolutely hate that phrase "it will hurt". Can you go on to explain how it will "hurt"?
What you mean is that the cost of everything will rise dramatically and many people will lose their jobs. This may well be a necessary sacrifice, but we need to be honest about it in and not hide behind the palatable euphemisms. Remember this is a country that gets up in arms over 2c carbon taxes.
.
It will hurt in the way you describe, higher costs for energy leading to inflation in other areas. The other option would be for Europe to give in and continue with what it has been doing and end up here again in a little while. It is a bit like getting a cancerous mole removed, it hurts at the time, but the longer term benefits are worth it.
For the Ukrainians to bomb civilians IE, Donbas / Crimea etc. would make them no better than the Russians. But I can't how much worse the Russian "Retaliation" can get? Seems to me that they are presently scraping the very bottom of the weapons barrel, so unless they resort to nuclear weapons. what's left? And IF they go nuclear and let that genie out of its bottle,,,would be the biggest mistake Putin has made yet. I'd say that there are military strategists' drooling at the thoughts of "Limited Nuclear Strikes" taken by Russia.
The best revenge for Ukraine would be that in 10 years time after aligning with the west, it improves economically and becomes successful. The Russians will still be blaming the west for the Russian oligarchs stealing their wealth, aided and abetted by the Russian supreme leader.
You are sounding as deranged as Putin and the other extreme Nationalism pushing Russian hawks.
Don't feed the troll. Another Walter Mitty.
As reported by the Reuters Agency, despite the fact that the import of crude oil from Russia is not formally subject to Western sanctions (the exception is the US embargo, and the United Kingdom has announced that it will introduce an embargo by the end of 2022), the Russian company Transneft has problems with a lack of demand for the raw material.
The company's warehouses are overfilled. The problem is so serious that the operator of the world's largest transmission network decided to impose limits on the collection of crude oil from producers. As reported by the Reuters Agency, the restrictions apply to oil companies that have not found recipients for their oil (and therefore would have to be stored by Transneft). Anyone who has a buyer for the raw material can still ship it via Transneft pipelines without any problems.
It's not about being nice. And Ukraine do have one eye on public opinion if they lowered themselves to what the Russians are doing.
There is no legitimate reason to attack civilians - (can't believe I have to write this) and definitely not if you want to get support as the 'good guys'. ISIS and the Taliban are not the models any modern non failed state should aspire to.
I've agreed/thanked a lot of your posts so far. I don't think, hope you've not thought this position through.
I would have thought that exposed mines could be safely detonated from a distance by shooting them with a rifle, something I'd imagine most farmers could do. On balance, I suspect that would be safer than waiting for them to becoame hidden by vegetation growth. Professional removal doesn't seem an affordable luxury in the circumstances.
:) 😂
Volunteers from the Russian troops who crossed over to the Ukrainian side will fight in the "Free Russia" legion, Ukrainian military intelligence reported on Telegram. The legion consists of over 100 Russians.
Imagine being some poor divil queuing for bread in Crimea in 10 years and your old neighbours a mile across the "border" in Ukraine are living a jet-setting lifestyle with access to money and opportunities across the EU and beyond.
Yes, shooting exposed mines with a rifle is usually covered on day 1 in even the most basic most farming courses. You can contact your local Teagasc office to find out more.
It works in any first person shooter I've played. Same with red barrels.
I'm fairly sure some EU countries are 100% reliant on Russia for their gas needs.
In any case GDP doesn't capture everything, combined with inflation of 5% means more like a 7% hit to the living standards of ordinary Germans.
It's not a small ask, and people should be clearminded about the consequences of the sanctions they are asking for.
That isn't to say that I don't think these things should not be done however.
That is why I think Ukraine are willing to defer the question for 15 years. They are betting there will be radical change in Ukraine in the 15 years.
If Ukraine wins this conflict or are able to negotiate a deal with Russia and stays neutral with security guarantess from NATO or others, and Russia is isolated from the rest of the world,i dont think either Crimea or Donbas want to be part of Russia anymore.
They will be coming begging back to Ukraine
Do try harder brother pio
Russia doesn't want them to be neutral they want the Ukrainian military disbanded and Russian peacekeepers permanently based in Ukraine to defend against foreign aggression from nato .
What part do you not understand about what Russia wants in Ukraine
Mod - Leave out the name calling please, no need for it
Make that 7.3% inflation
I believe the death toll in Mariupol is being grossly underreported for morale and propaganda reasons. Even 5,000 is an unbelievably low figure when one sees the images of the 90% building destruction and damage. Earlier reports were far higher and now those are being rowed back on, so I am deeply suspiciouss.
Even the death toll of 300 from the theatre shelter bombing seems a huge under reporting. It was said there were 1100 people shetering there, and after it was bombed, Zelenskyy announced 130 survivors had been rescued, leaving a huge discrepancy between the likely death toll of perhaps 970 and the 300 reported - which is also not credible as a full excavation has not been possible due to more pressing matters like loss of the city. I'd say 300 might be the bodies uncovered with the 600 or so still under the rubble just being left unmentioned due to morale.

No it is the list that Ukraine put together of all known FSB agents around Europe not what Russians are here as cultural attaches.
