I know enough about the American doctrine to know they would have laid waste to the country from the sky before a boot was put on the ground
No war since WW2 has any country received modern western weapons for free.
There have been quite a few examples of "free modern weapons" from both the US and the USSR as it was. Pretty much every proxy war between the two superpowers had that going on. In the Korean war where do you think the North Koreans got their Migs? In the various proxy wars in South America the Soviets gave guns to their guys, the Americans gave guns to theirs. After the Russian invasion of Afghanistan the Afghanis got anti tank and anti aircraft missles from the Americans. The AK47 is the most common assault rifle on the planet for a reason. The Russians were shipping them out like Smarties to any group they saw as friends. Sometimes for hard currency, just as often for free. RPG7's are anothe very common weapon out there.
One thing that strikes me is that modern day Russia is a much weaker entity on the global stage than the old Soviet Union. Their population in 1989 was nearly 300 million and they were actually bigger than the USA by about 40 million. I don't think the loss of influence and clout has fully fed through to the public and many of them still think they are a superpower. I suspect the fact that they are struggling to overcome Ukraine and are now in a war of attrition may come as a bit of a shock to many in the population.
Other countries testing the Russians
I agree with you apart from the AK47's. They are Chinese made AK47's that everyone has. The Russian only made them for a few years during which ever war I think ww2. I watch Youtube videos on guns and learned about the AK's.
Just to point out they are still great Ak's even though they are Chinese made.
And losing Ukraine from its orbit to anti Russian side is an 80 million 'swing'. Just like losing Poland, East Germany, Czechs, Hungary etc was
A video of a large number of Ukrainian soldiers surrendering. Russian propaganda that is being put out there.
Yeah probably right.
I'd reckon better than in places like Iraq and Afghanistan. Ukraine, outside of the cities is more like a "proper" army against army war. The Americans ability to apply force at a distance is unmatched. As are their logistics. Air superiority would be a given within days. Their comms would be secure. Their intel and battlefield oversight would be scarily high. The skies would be thick with drones blasting anything bigger than a shotgun. Their special forces would go in from day one and secure the infrastructure they wanted for themselves. Ukrainian AA and radar and comms would be targeted right off the bat. They've be blind and deaf within 24 hours. That's before the main thrust of tanks and boots would cross the border. Yes they would take casualities, no doubt about that, and like anyone would find it very difficult to hold the land long term, but I would be surprised if they wouldn't have secured Kyiv by now and what was left of Ukraine's forces would be down to foot soldiers.
I haven't been following the thread or the war but that is the first confirmation I seen of Ukrainian solders surrendering. I have seen many Russian though.
Early in the invasion perhaps? I doubt that was filmed in recent days.
I’m fairly sure it’s fake… I assume they are all Russian…
"Panzerknacker" will henceforth be the name I'll use for anti-tank weapons and no-one can stop me!
Россия, Михаил Востротин 😂🤣
I see the "Special military operation to conquer Ukraine but we'll now take anything we can get Donbas maybe?" is really focusing on Donbas, by firing missiles on Lviv
I'm sure you think your trolling is funny. You're wrong though. On both counts. Dublin. Ireland.
I think this Lviv attack in only for today, when Biden is in Poland
nowadays of course, but you know yourself where u r from. 😜 your position, your username, and a love to stick to it everywhere u go is a dead giveaway.
to me. 🤣 I accidentally managed to expose another 'whataboutery poster' from Russia 🙄
My username means nothing. Sportloto was a Soviet lottery which has ended in 1986. Nothing to do with a film you referring to and I'm not hiding who I am or where I am from. Just a real person who feels, thinks and tries to live. I'm from Lithuania. My grandparents were deported to Siberia by Soviets. My mother's family were forced by the same Soviets to give up their lands in Lithuania. All my childhood I was called something I am not because of my race. I was hunted many times, beaten up and humiliated. So tell me more about my position which you deducted from a username on online platforms.
its ok, nevermind!
I mean to be fair it's in their interest to continue hitting potential supply chains throughout the country. And they did actually hit relevant infrastructure since it looks like storage tanks which reportedly contain oil or fuel. Likely to more relevant than a theatre far behind front lines at least!
There have also been a lot of planes landing in Rzeszów carrying goodies for Ukraine yesterday and today so it could also be somewhat related to that. Although equally wouldn't put it past them to be trying to "scare" the US troops securing Biden next door in Poland.
The Ukrainian army took over the city of Trościaniec, located in the Sumy Oblast in the north-east of the country, the 93rd Chołodny Yar Brigade reported on Facebook. The territorial defense forces and local partisans also took part in the liberation of the city from the Russians. As emphasized in the press release, "the elite of the Russian land forces - the Kantemirov armored division - was successfully driven out of the city."
Situated near the border with Russia, between Sumy and Kharkiv, Trościaniec, with a population of 20,000, is one of the first towns occupied by the Russians during the invasion of Ukraine.
156 Million in156 MillionQuote :- Their population in 1989 was nearly 300 million and they were actually bigger than the USA by about 40 million. Un-Quote. Russian population in 2020 was 144.1 million....thats a drop of 156 Million in a little over 33 years. Could that be true?? They have a serious population nrs decline, but as much as the above figures? Is that possible?. In Putins Russia conditions are so bad that for every 1'000 Babies born, 500 are aborted. If so, it would explain why he is looking for troops everywhere.
Don't forget the USSR included Ukraine, Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Kazakhstan etc etc. Not just Russia Federation of today.
