As I mentioned in a previous post, the "Boeing RC-135W Rivet Joint" has a horizontally mounted radar on the flanks of the craft and therefore the monitoring objective is typically 90 degrees to the left or right of the aircraft.
In this image we can see that the aircraft has just departed from its station where it was positioned to monitor movement within Kaliningrad. In that case it was flying in ~300km long loops below Gdansk, Poland. Yesterday the same aircraft was positioned over Eastern Romania with an aspect of Odesa and the Southern maritime region of Ukraine.
Prior to this it had been flying above Rzeszow, Poland in combination with the E-3 Sentry, with a focus on protecting assets around Lviv, Ukraine. As we sadly saw on Sunday the training and logistical area to the north-west of Lviv (now hidden on Google Maps) probably should have have additional protection against cruise missiles as attacks were launched from aircraft within Russia. The risks of an assault such as this were probably considered to be relatively low in the absence of Russian air-superiority over Ukraine.
Governmnet jet just flew over me at low altitude. Thought the nukes were coming.
Seen it myself,fairly low
I heard it as well - v smooth sounding!! That's some loop-the-looping it's been doing, they must be properly!!!

Lockheed Martin C-130J-30 Hercules flew over south Dublin
Lovely sound
I presume the same one that just passed overhead here heading east - some noise off it!!
Irish Air Corp doing a fly past of 16 craft
A bit tone deaf considering we have thousands of Ukrainian refugees kids over here
I think it should have been postponed
Not at all. It's our birthday. 100 years, if we can't have a cake and a flyover for that leave me up.
They've managed one chopper fitting a flag underneath so far...... not sure if the rest was called off or are just late?
They followed in 3 separate groups. Was expecting them to all fly together, but I suppose they all have different flying speeds. Great day for it in fairness.
Yeah, they came by in dribs and drabs. What a fabulous day for it!!
I'm only sorry I couldn't have been out in proper open space to see it, I was viewing through the power lines and chimney pots opposite!!
I seriously doubt those refugees would mistake PC-12s, PC-9s, a CASA and a few choppers passing sedately overhead for marauding Russian aircraft.
Biden in AF1 and a support aircraft departing Rzeszow just now.
That's regular - several times a day by a variety of operators.
As this is probably the most active thread on a+a forum I'm asking here for everyone to look at my last post in the EIDW thread,
Thanks,
Pat.

Dropped a few off on arrival yesterday
This bird just flew over the house. Any reason for the diversion? Seems a bit too early for a fuel stop.
