Can't remember where I saw it now, but the person speculated that the russians do have plenty of cruise missiles etc. that they won't use in Ukraine. The thought was they were being saved in case NATO get's involved through being attacked or by choice.
Not saying either is right, just another line of thinking.
They probably have larger scale guided missiles. But they seem to have no smaller scale tactical munitions.
The interesting thing now is what is Uncle Joe sending them. The US is releasing 800 million worth of military aid. At present IMO Ukraine has plenty of anti tank and anti aircraft missiles. It needs something to gain air superiority. Long range aircraft tracking equipment, larger drones etc might allow the Ukraine army to go on the offensive.
IMO that is the next step. German, the UK, France and the old Warsaw pact countries are supplying plenty of anti-tank and anti aircraft missiles. It's to nullify the Russians air superiority now they need.

I see elsewhere the view of the poorest making up the majority of the Russian army. The poorest being the kazakhs and dagastanis.
This view of the white Russian is mainly just the elite. Even they move abroad to the west. Another view in the tweet thread was Russia looking for Ukraine for the white people alone. Remember the view before Russia telling Ukrainians we are with you. And now forces evacuating Ukrainians to far east Russia. Some view that Russia want the other Baltic States just for the white people to boost the numbers in Russia. Some say the way it's going the fear is there of a green Muslim flag being flown over the Kremlin in the future.

I live near Shannon Airport and last night a very large and very loud aeroplane flew over our house. It literally shook the house. There was no lights on it, except for a slow flashing light underneath. There was nothing at all shown on the https://www.flightradar24.com/ website in the area.
Not all Military flights can be tracked. More than likely it was a C-17 cargo. They make some racket. And if it wasn't tracked on radar then it was probably full of weapons and ammo

I'll say it again. We can and should do more. Ireland get's a mention in the video below. Ukraine was neutral when russia invaded Crimea and Donbas, it didn't help one bit. Sweden is neutral yet has sent thousands of weapons. Ireland stands apart, rather that with Ukraine. Humanitarian aid, political pressure, taking in refugees are all good things. But, in some kind of twisted irony we refuse to send weapons to a fellow democracy who's former colonial master is re-invading them.

I posted another (many tbh!) thread of his previously on how putrids crew can't handle anything technical so the oligarchs tend to steal relatively simple operations like natural resource extraction (and not say the company that might make the machines necessary for that extraction). This, along with other corruption, has led to the social demotion of engineers in russia. Now they're heavily dependent on importation of technologies and parts, kind of a weak position to put oneself in when it's coupled with being..... well, uncivilized.

I am impressed by the Brits in this war. They trained the Ukrainians before it started, supplied them with good weapons and their intelligence info seems spot on. If you remember a few months back Boris announced he was changing the way the military operate much to the annoyance of some ppl. His vision is not feet on the ground but more high tech equipment and its proven right. The days of thousands of soldiers and tanks are a thing of the past.
What will happen on Thursday?
Will we kowtow to Putin and pay for Russian gas in rubles or gold, or else will we hold firm?
Either we back down somewhat or escalate things, hopefully the former. Byproduct of that will be ruble returning to its pre invasion strenght if not a little higher.
They certainly did a good job militarily, but on the humanitarian end (Priti Patel anyone) and particularly on the russian money laundering end they leave an awful lot to be desired. There has long been the theory that a significant driving force behind the architects of brexit was to protect Britain and it's entities ability to launder money, as the EU was seen to be tightening up on it and EU law would over rule British law.
They were helped a lot more by the US both in training and quality of weapons. I think both France and the UK could have done a lot more.
