Still chuckling to myself over Ken tearing into Lampard on Monday.

The Gerrard and Neville stuff was priceless as well.

Didn't even make it into the shortlist for the Christmas log cabin best audio beds of the year if I remember correctly at the time...a criminal slip-up!

It is a brilliant audio bed

His stolen bike one is brilliant too. Probably because they hardly ever play it.

I thought this thread used to be busy!

The George Hamilton interview and aftermath was a very enjoyable episode.

I particularly enjoyed Murph shouting over the cheering at the end. Think his wife was right.

    That one's ancient though :D

Was at the live show tonight. The numerous hecklers in the second part were grating, to say they least

    Who were the guests?

Devin Toner & Dan Sheehan for first part.

    David Walsh for second

Lads that shout up are absolute idiots. I was going to say that I don't understand their mentality. I do though, they think they are really smart and funny.

Ken hugely hungover on yesterday's pod was very funny.

Back to bed for an hour to prepare for the next live show!

Was at the live show last night. Felt the chat about Kelly went around in circles for far too long with an increasing amount of heckling.

Sucked a bit of the craic out of the room and the show kind of petered out. Stark contrast to the end of the Hamilton show.

Who the f*ck heckles at a Second Captains show?

Apart from that time the "crowd" didn't want to hear about the FAI's finances when John Delaney was on stage.

Really enjoyed the Hamilton episode. What an enjoyable night that sounded like. Well done lads......and now we know why they wanted that piano!

Serious selection of knobheads on listening to that pod alright

I was hoping they would have more of a take on the Will Smith-Chris Rock fiasco, things like this usually bring out the best in Ken, maybe they'll touch on it more today.

"Kenny Time sounds like a misbegotten Pat Kenny TV project from the eighties"

It actually sounds better than most RTE show ideas

Will smith and The Italian exit should have been hit hard !!!

Doesn't look like the sales are going too well for the gibney show. Tbf it seems like the lads misread the room. I don't know why you would pay 40 quid to go be depressed for an hour or two. I know it's for charity though. Hopefully they can get a few more sales

It could have worked if it was a month or so after the podcast finished but it's way too long since the podcast was released. There is a limited window and they missed it

Was thinking the same. I'm not sure Sinead Carroll hosting does much for me either.

Fair play to them and all for the podcast - and I don't like to criticise the lads too much - but I'm not sure I want to hear them mention it ever again.

Have the lads discussed the controversy surrounding transgender athlete Lia Thomas?

I don't mind them mentioning it. But Jesus that theme music makes me want to throw my phone out window

Yeah, Eoin has to do his sombre serious voice when it comes on.

It's clear that the George Gibney lineup is not selling. If it was me, I would add to the lineup to make it more appealing to the second captain's audience but that's difficult given the subject matter. They could almost make it a 2 part show with one part 'normal' live show stuff and 2nd half dealing with the Gibney podcast. Might help sales. I hope they sell it out though as its a great cause.

As someone else said, it doesn't sound like a great night out as it is

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,973 ✭✭✭Raoul

Is it even a second captains night though? Is Sinead Carroll presenting? Probably interviewing Mark Horgan.

These type of podcasts are just consumed and in a lot of cases unsubscribed from as soon as they are finished. Only for second captains I would never have heard of the podcast and I haven't seen anything about the live show except for second captains related promotion.

I've never been to a live show, but the impression I get from this thread and in general is a lot of those who go, just go to get pissed and shout nonsense, not sure if the Gibney show should be pitched at that demographic.
