Fine Gael New Politics document 2011
In Government we will deliver stronger, more accountable Local Government, and dismantle the public sector’s “command and control” model where everything is run from the top and local voices and concerns are ignored.
Fine Gael wants to build on that community spirit and champion the cause of the Citizen by: • Building a stronger, more democratic Local Government that is accountable to local citizens and their communities;
Utter bullshit. All lies.
It was a homophobic statement in the context that MHR used it. Given that, you can figure out the severity of it.
Lest we have another few pages of arguing with dictionaries again.
There is zero evidence that a common phrase was used in a homphobic way. Taken in it's commonly used form it isn't homophobic so the onus is on those claiming homophobia is to prove he intended it that way.
It's not up to you or Leo to decide what is or isn't a homophobic statement, especially when it is a commonly used phrase and never been used as a homophobic slur by anyone ever - unless you can prove otherwise.
It's only a handful of buffoons that seem to want to find offence in it, and to use it as a tool. If that's what they want to do, well then maybe they should crawl back into their holes underground, or wherever it is trolls live and discuss it there.
So what, you think people can say whatever they like and the person on the other end doesn't have a choice if the statement are a slur or not? cop on to yourself.
The only people I see going on about this are the like of Paddy Cosgrove and the mob that follows a certain party. Who posted it on this thread? who was running from one thread to another, who was trawling the web trying to find if Leo had used the word? who was trawling the archives to see if the word was used in the Dail before?
If you want to call them Buffoons that is your choice
Will anyone be pushing your local FG and FF TD to resurrect the 2015 Public Sector Standards Bill that got shelved even though it had broad support?
No, my point is that it's not up to (a) moron(s) to decide on a whim what words to weaponise because they feel boxed in or can't come up with a proper retort, and then for more idiots to back it up. Are we all supposed to go around carefully selecting which perfectly acceptable words we can or can't use because some idiots will take offence to them? I couldn't give a crap about your deflections and pointing to some other party who had literally zero input in this, and the trying to squeeze other people into the same box to suit your narrative.
The only difference between MHR and LV is MHR is a better chancer.
😂
Buffoons, moron, idiots 🤣
I 100% agree, who goes around trawling Leo to see if he said the word before and then after that actually checks the dail archives.
Look at this one.

In the context MHR used it, it was homophobic.
MHR is currently in the process of attempting to dig up, as are some on this thread.
That has to be the strangest logic I have ever seen, then again you did claim that a work colleague calling a women a "effin eijit" for getting pregnant was just banter 🤦♂️
No it wasn't. MRH said it wasn't and judging by the responses online, the majority would accept that. The context and what he was referring to was fantasy land and those that habit it. It is only a tiny minority who have decided it was offensive.
I'm not even sure where you get off trying to claim that something somebody else said to somebody else in the context that it was said in, was homophobic. Do you realise how ludicrous that sounds.
MRH should have retorted with Leo's initial response since Leo had just repeated him:
"The fact that you didn't like it quite understand it, is more of a reflection on you than it is on me, quite frankly"
No idea why you keep bringing up random others into it. There were only two people talking yesterday. Either you think it was meant as offensive or you don't.
I have no idea who checked out how many times it was said, but I could see why it is relevant. Leo only decided to take offence for the first time yesterday. I wonder why that is. 😅
And you completely ruin any argument you had by having to sink to lies and misrepresentation.
I didn't say that, I said very clearly (and explained to another poster who was attempting to lie about it) that it 'may have been banter' and none of us knew the context.
So common is that phrase (like airy fairy) you can buy it on a greeting card.
Try again.
You keep accusing people of lying, not sure why you do that constantly?
Because you did lie.
But you accused the other poster of lying, see below from the post.
(and explained to another poster who was attempting to lie about it)
Anyway just another pointless rabbit hole.
Because they did too.
Do you honestly think I could be bothered watching some TV shows? the dog on the street could tell you how corrupt all the political parties are in the county councils. If you are so concerned about them why don't you have a chat with the party you support and figure out what they are doing about it?
One of the present governing parties FG stood up in Dáil and promised to implement the recommendations of the Mahon Tribunal.
We know what they are 'doing', next to sweet FA.
All of the parties have councillors who are at the same carry on. As I said this should have a thread of its own. Jumping and shouting about a certain parties councillors while ignoring the rest is a bit short sighted. Especially when the report I provided earlier from 2019 had a number of high profile councils which had been run by opposition parties.
The focus of the discussion is the promise of the governing party to sort it out and implement the recommendations that they promised to (Jan O'Sullivan and Phil Hogan) implement. 7 years later and many of them haven't been.
No that's not the focus at all. That is the focus you would like because it covers up for parties who ran huge county councils for years in Ireland and delivered nothing for the people.
The focus is on all county councils and councillors who are ripping off the system. This is across all parties. So yes it should have it's own thread.
And on a government thread the question is asked WHY has the government not done anything about it, when they promised to 7 years ago?
Do you think they should have lived up to their promise? Given they are the ones vested with the power to change the system are they the ones to blame for ongoing abuse, lack of accountability and cover-ups in some cases?
Please answer and don't try and censor the discussion, there are two questions there.
Censor, I am doing the exact opposite. You are trying to censor anyone who wants to have an open discussion about the issues and all the parties involved in this. But let you off, absolutely pointless trying to have any sort of discussion
I see the clown crew are still crawling the web. What an absolute clown Paddy is.....
Nobody is stopping you discussing that. Discuss away if you have evidence of involvement of gvernment parties, that is what this thread is for.
Now are you going to answer the questions asked of the government and their responsibilities here that were highlighted in the programme?
Christ you are naive. Do you realise that you don't have to be an elected councillor to work in the council?
Watch the program and educate yourself before you visit the ballot box again. Read up on the Mahon report too. It did cost the state a huge amount to produce it.
Council chamber secrets: Misconduct, falsehoods & waste (rte.ie)
He hasn't a breeze.
Phil made great promises too. He utterly failed yet the blinkered still love him.
---------------
Local government was a key focus of the Mahon Tribunal's work. The public was promised that political reform in this sector would be swift and emphatic.
The then-Minister for Housing and Planning, Jan O'Sullivan, said that the report's recommendations would be implemented "to ensure such behaviour can never, ever happen again".
Her government colleague, Phil Hogan, the then-Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, said he would examine the report and "take whatever further steps are necessary to restore and underpin confidence and transparency in the local government system".

All lies.
Ahh cop yourself, trying to make out you are an expert because you watched a program for an hour.
It like the lads online who had a degree on covid a few months back, now is a military tactician.
I am sure next week they will run something else and you will be an expert on that as well. 😂
