Russian reporting:
Seems like that's what everyone who makes a statement is doing, saying what Putin tells them to say. There's only one voice in Russia now, and that's Putin's
But not Mariupol....
Another sneaky move by Putin, forcing other countries to convert to rouble (and thus prop it up) before paying
My inner WW2 nerd grins at the fact that some of the German AT weapons are called "Panzerfausts", which for those who don't already know, was the name given to the single-shot AT weapon used by German forces in the second half of WW2.
(In the newsreels the panzerfaust is the oversized lollipop you sometimes see German soldiers carrying. 😁)
I saw this video a few days back on a military forum. Theory is that either a) as you pointed out, they are just lobbing rockerts as if they are artillary.
The second point is b) that perhaps they are literally flying as far as they can without getting shot at and firing off rockets so that they can report back as having completed their mission. Notice they also pop anti aircraft flares. Theory is that hey can claim they took on fire.
Basically they're sh1t scared.
Agreed. The whole raising of the debate seems to me like an opportunistic attempt to distract people from housing and cost-of-living problems.
In the Sopranos they would say that someone had "gone into witness protection".
It's a smart way to shore up demand for the ruble.
All the average Russian Soldier want to do is to get out of the Army...
Mmmh but then Russia is left holding a bunch of additional Rubles which it either has to hold or sell for some other currency. You generally don't like to hold an unstable asset if you can avoid it; and I somehow doubt the value of the ruble is going to hold given the additional sanctions that are presumably coming down the pipe after the G7/NATO/Biden meetings this week.
Not sure if it's smart or just desperate; maybe someone with actual knowledge on the subject might know.
So they found a way to get them into a safe working order? Would be great, but I'll hold up on celebrating until I've found some sourced back home that confirm this.
EDIT: Okay, German Newspaper "Bild" reports that rather than delivering the remaining 2200 missiles in one go, they'll be dispatched in smaller batches as they're repaired and released from Bundeswehr Depots.
Tomorrow's exaggerated Russian news reports - "Nazi sabator nearly collapses the entire outer perimeter in an unprovoked attack on the gates/walls of the Kremlin using sophisticated munitions supplied from the West, since detained and sentenced to 15 years in prison, such attacks have become more common and are believed to be copycat events of the tragic lost gate incident in Dublin"
Very smart move, it should of been done earlier really. This means all currency exchanges will have to be carried out with the Russian Central Bank also and seen as Dollars can be frozen by the US now roubles can likewise be frozen by Russia.
I suspect it would be something akin to "Ukraine agreed to waive liability and accept them in their current state; whether safe or not"? I mean trust the German's to try and be responsible with explosives but I guess the Ukrainians are used to using all kinds of old soviet gear at this stage.
It had almost been forgotten I guess, for Russians to have to queue for items in the stores. But the older generation know full well what it is like, and they will now act accordingly, with old habits kicking in.
I don't know. From what I've seen, Ukrainian mechanics seem to be doing a far better job at keeping their equipment in good running condition than Russia, or even some western militaries cough Bundeswehr cough . Unless by using you mean "their depots are used to resurrecting even the worst pieces of cr*p out there", that is.
Ronald Reagan used to tell a joke about a Russian guy in the 80s who worked his way up in his employer and decided to buy a car. So he goes to the car dealer and signs up for a new car, the car dealer says ‘OK, if everything is in order you can collect your new car exactly ten years from today’ and the guy says ‘will that be in the morning or the afternoon?’ So the car dealer says ‘look, it’s ten years from now, what does it matter if it’s the morning or the afternoon?!’. The guy says ‘well it’s just that the plumber is coming that morning!’.
Looks like turkey are acting as a broker in talks between putin and Ukraine. Putin has pulled back abit on
... Several million Moscow citizens have been displaced by this criminal act of aggression.
And Geneva Conventions be damned......not that Putin cares about them anyway. Just add to an ever growing list of war crimes.
Have thought if Russia's brutality in East/South of Ukraine just continues on and on, and reaches WW2 levels of death and destruction, there could be increasing pressure on NATO/US/EU etc. to do "something" to limit scale it can grow to, even if seems they can't actually put a stop to it.
I'm no expert but have wondered if that might be likeliest, a force sent in to secure/protect parts of country up to borders of where Russia and their army/security forces are already operating but no further, and dare Putin/Russia to expand the attack + escalate towards armageddon by attacking the NATO force. I suppose, even though they lie so much, if he says this and makes threats, maybe they think it is most likely sort of "intervention" too? Very dangerous/scary times.
Once again miriam proved herself to be a complete lightweight when conducting a serious and important interview. She conducted the interview in her "concerned mammy " tone,"but the Russian Army is so big ", how can ye win!. She only seems to ask questions from prepared notes and is unable to think on her feet.
Murder, rape and deportations are already happening. It'll take a lot for anyone to jump in.
Assuming that its true, this is how the overthrow of Putin begins.......
Rupee - Ruble agreement to be implemented in a week
Yes, I know (or have seen reports of it posted here etc) and agree. By invoking "WW2", am speaking of this continuing on until Russia done several Mariupol type sieges/bombings and has killed or "processed" (or whatever they may begin to do with "Nazis" in their occupied areas) millions of people.
time to bite the painful bullet and stop buying their oil and gas...
