We never were before then. Maybe once briefly in the 1100s for a few years. Other than that we were a fractioned or occupied land until that treaty and eventually becoming a republic.
Given Nestle's history with baby food it could well make for more healthy Russian babys...
just seems an odd thing.
I'm not a **** nestle apologist, but I wouldn't see them supplying baby formula to Russian babies as a slap in the face to Ukraine.
Super soldiers you mean???? NESTLE!!!!!!!!!!! We are on to you
milky bar kid..... blonde hair, blue eyes.........
Don't think anyone can complain about the lack of certain foods in Russia, be it baby foods or anything else, in the context of what the babies in Ukraine are suffering at the hands of Russians
I didn't complain Beasty. Nor do I think it is anything similar to the atrocities happening in Ukraine. I just dont see why anyone would have an issue with baby formula being sold in Russia.
**** sake
It's been a few years since there was baby formula or prepared food in this house, but the big brands are usually mad expensive. We'd have to see the market share Nestle have and what alternatives are available before concluding that Zelensky wants to starve Russian babies. We're still a way off if the comparison is between burning babies alive in apartments and shelters vs requesting that high street brands boycott the country doing the shelling.
Did he really say he wanted them to stop selling baby formula or was it a more generic statement about Nestle as a huge corporation stopping business in Russia? To be honest I wouldn't have known they were involved in quite so much different products including baby formula until recently so I wouldn't have been disagreeing with the sentiment initially tbh
They are still profiteering off the suffering of Ukrainans children ,
No children in Russia Will starve anytime soon
not 100% sure tbh. Only going by the article someone else posted.
I dont think the second part of your post is necessarily true.
And the first part is silly.
I hope it's the one that bombed the theatre.
I noticed the article on Renault didn't mention a french defense company has been supplying Russia with thermal and night vision for Russian tanks over the last few years despite an arms embargo being in place for the last number of years
How much of a Crimea corridor can the Russians hope to hang onto in the peace talks, any chance they could keep hold of Kherson and the biggest Nuclear power plant in Ukraine? Mariupol is as good as a safe bet as is the Crimea canal for them to hold onto in my guesstimation
Let’s not forget that nestle fed both sides in WW2. Why would they change this time around.
I've found part of a speech he gave for Switzerland and he says "'Good food. Good life.' This is the slogan of Nestlé. Your company that refuses to leave Russia" "Even now — when there are threats from Russia to other European countries. Not only to us. When there is even nuclear blackmail from Russia."
Those pilots will get a warm welcome
It's all true ....
But it's all about the money
Most sanctions will, in isolation, be much of an irritant to rank and file Russians. The totality of all sanctions is what will be more effective across the board. Any business feeing their profit in Russia is more important than the lives of Ukrainians is, in my view, reprehensible. Of course there will be local businesses within Russia trying to make up the difference, but there are very important messages here that sanctions will hopefully get through to large numbers of Russians.
None of those rank and file Russians bear any direct responsibility for what is happening, but they can seek to influence things within Russia. They need to get the message that the rest of the World, with one or two notable exceptions, find the behaviour or Russia abhorrent.
It's possible to find Russias actions abhorrent, but also not want Russian people to suffer.
cool. cos thats exactly what I was talking about wasnt it?
wont be long now until im accused of supporting russia.
Greatly concerned? No, I am on a **** discussion board in Ireland and I read a part of an article where I saw that nestle were being criticised for selling essential products to Russian people and I thought that it was odd and didn't sit right with me. I wholly support Ukraine and absolutely condemn Russia's actions.
Despite that, I've already been given **** about the fact that I was uneasy that Ukranian propaganda was celebrated while anything coming from Russia was met with derision. I should know better at this stage.
But you know, **** me right? That means I hate Ukrainian people.
She was typical Miriam, condescending and smug. A stupid line of questioning and no we weren't independent when we signed the Anglo irish treaty.
this is the Russophobia thread, not the Russophila one
Yes,its abhorrant what russia is being left do,
But the sanctions,(which im skeptical will work),are bit hypocritical while europe continues to need to buy its oil,gas and fertilizer etc
Just looks like a way to make ordinary russians suffer, who cant really protest/bring down the government and will ultimately cause.em to become entrenched in support, the longer it drags on....
the 2014 sanctions caused russian food production to increase to meet demand and modernise farm methods (afaik an ex teagasc advisor helped massively there) and medium term weakened european agriculture and depŕessed prices
I'm not an expert in Nestle or what they sell. I was only referencing an article that was posted here and found the fact that nestle were criticised for selling baby food to Russians as a little disturbing. The Russian government are ****. The people aren't.
No. They sell lots of things. But the part of the article I was concerned about was the part where they were being criticised for selling essentials like baby food.
I made that clear.
Somehow, you read that as me saying that Russians not getting easter eggs is the same as Ukranian children getting bombed and eating dogs.
Members of parliament blowing up tanks - Its surreal stuff
They shouldn't get an inch of territory of Ukraine via force unless there is no other choice for Ukraine. The people of Kherson do not appear to want to be part of Russia. I expect that is doubly true of Mariupol (whoever the Russians spare, that is). Any territory ceded to Russia should be by referendum of the Ukrainian people, and a mutually recognised one with impartial observers, unlike the kangaroo ref the Russians held in Crimea.
