A cold start to Spring with widespread frost. -4c atm at Mount Dillion.
Another glorious day today in Meath, mostly unbroken warm sunshine earlier. Temperatures got very close to 18C during the early afternoon. This spell is getting very close to the March 2012 spell in terms of warmth and sunshine. The past 2 days wouldn't be out of place in mid summer.

It would be funny as so incongruous at the moment.
Reminds me of the same date in 2010. Parts of the South Midlands got a big snowfall. Snow on the ground at home on 7 April, over a week later.

I'm in North County Dublin.
It was cloudy all morning, sun starting to appear now.
Don't get me wrong still fab for Mar but yesterday was unreal, wall to wall sunshine all day.
It's lovely in Tallaght.

Overcast all morning, still warm though for March at 15 degrees.

Not surprised it got to 18 degrees in Dublin today, it was absolutely beautiful with not a cloud in sky all day.
It was nicer than some so called 'summer' days that we get at times especially in August when it might only be 14 degrees.
It hit 22.0 C at Belmullet back around this day in 2012. It was a similar nice spell.

See 17.8c top of the pile at Finner but only provisionally might be over 18c at Pheonix Park or Mt Dillon
Really great Spring Day here in Kerry , close to 18C at my site out by the coast. Nice evening for a BBQ, cold air settled in quickly needing jackets to sit out till about 19.00 , 10.4C now under clear skies.
This run of good weather is just unreal.
Today is even better than yesterday as the chilly breeze is not there.
Met Eireann reporting hitting 18 degrees at 4pm at Phoneix Park +Claremorris.
It's hit 18c in Finner too but yesterday it was 17.8c there. Wonder has it beaten that. 17.7c isas high as its got in Sligo. Exact same as yesterday. Tomorrow a cloudier day in the West but Dublin might get near 18c again or midlands. Met Eireann keep saying East Coast is cooler but its matching the West. Southeast a bit cooler though.
According to the meteoblue app which is fairly accurate, it has hit 18C here in south Dublin. Glorious day, just back from a walk in the park.
17.3c currently in Sligo. Wonder will somewhere hit 18c today. Casement is making a valiant attempt. Maybe Mt Dillon at 3pm
The only notable thing right now about this March is the sunshine which in the case of Dublin is on course for one of its sunniest Marches on record. Dublin Airport has had 130.3 hours and Casement 131.1 hours to the 22nd. Their sunniest March is 172.2 hours and 175.8 hours respectively, both back in March 2003.
Nationally speaking, this month is running with 51.9mm of rainfall which if it were to stand would make it the driest March in Ireland since 2012 (not a great year to compare to..). Malin Head currently standing at only 22.5mm of rain this March - if this were to be the final total, it would make it the driest March there since 1996.
IMT wise, it's around average and neither especially cool nor warm. The last colder than average March was 2018, 2020 was average whilst 2019 and 2021 were mild.
Personally speaking, I have loved this month and have been really enjoying it. This is up there with March 2011 and 2012 for me as my favourite. Lost count of how many walks I have done with the fantastic weather, takes me back to the early days of lockdown in Spring 2020 when we were also experiencing fabulous weather.
Is this kind of weather very unusual for March? I know we've had recent lovely Springs but is it unprecedented? With the record temps in both poles at the moment I'm not sure what to make of it.

It looks like 17.7 at Magilligan was the warmest synop station in Ireland today.
Meanwhile, typical urban heat island effect in effect in London today. Anomalously warm compared to the rest of the country. We see this time and time again, especially later on in the summer.
Yeah that 17.7c we got today was sudden but stayed around 17c for rest of day. Wasn't completely sunny. If it had been maybe we would have got near 19c. Still few attempts at that before cold comes. Though Thursday here will probably be 12 or 13c
Beautiful day today, felt warm in the sun with the light breeze.
The sound from the dawn chorus before 6am this morning was something else, great to see nature come alive again.
I was expecting much of Leinster and Munster to be hit with cool temperatures from onshore breezes but thankfully temperatures are holding up much better than usual in this sort of setup. Currently 16c in Meath, warmest day of the year so far.

Just back from lovely walk in Malahide Castle.
Bit of a chilly breeze in places as beside the coast but beautiful in warm sunshine.
Looking at some local weather station, the Kilmeague and Allenwood areas seem to be having higher temperatures than surrounding areas, getting quite close to 20Β° there. Could be either due to a Foehn or/and proximity to raised bogs, which have a tendency to warm up quite a bit with direct sunshine.
