This worked absolutely perfectly for me, brilliant BA! Pro sorted until September.
Be careful not to pay the additional sneaky charges for customer protection etc, it came in at €21.62 for me for voucher and charges.
Thank you OP.
Can anyone clarify if Xbox 360 wireless controllers are compatible with Stadia? Asked in Cex where they had a couple of 360 controllers on sale for 25 each but the sales assistant said he didn't think they are compatible but he wasn't 100% on that either
Should be fine, on PC anyway. When I had a free trial for Stadia I used my PS3 controller (which uses a piece of software to "trick" my PC into thinking it's an Xbox 360 controller) and it worked absolutely perfectly, wirelessly.
According to this list it is but when it is connected via USB.
When it says USB does that mean the wireless function of the controller wont work, i.e. you have to run a long cable from the controller to the Chromecast? If so are there any other options that would allow wireless but without breaking the bank, I dont really care what controller I use but just dont want to be paying 80 euro upwards for a up to date PS or Xbox controller
Prob looking at a PS4 or XBOX One. You have to connect via your phone too. Not too hard bit not the same pick up and play as with the stadia one.
CEX have stadia controllers for 25-30. Few on Adverts too. I see the full premier edition for under 50 a few times. Controllers are from 20 up.
cheers thanks, I'll look out for one of those on Adverts or cex. Not a heavy gamer so just didnt want to go spending loads on something I mightnt use a lot
Whole kit here for 40.
I must say. This Chromecast TV, with remote control and game controller is fantastic.
I'm not a gamer. Had an xbox 360 and ended up only ever using it for streaming media.
Sold that. Got this instead and it's just as good but in a smaller, portable form factor.
Have Netflix, Disney, Apple TV, YouTube and lots more all via one interface. Plus the games that I'm interested in. All for about €70 at the time.
It is a fantastic bit of Kit. I have one myself. Much simpler than the old Chromecast that needed your phone to connect to. I always ran into issues setting it up. This is nice and easy to use.
Decent deal on Amazon for the Razer Kishi, which essentially turns your phone into a portable console (like the Switch), looks to be very handy for playing stadia directly on your phone without needing to bring a separate controller or relying on the touchscreen controls
Good to see Saints Row announced for Stadia, 2022 was looking very barren on the AAA game front.
Between that and the announcement of the Skull and Bones release date it's been a good couple of days for the platform.
Chromecast with Google tv is on sale too. €46. Makes Stadia much easier to use over the Chromecast ultra. Can also install Netflix and Disney etc.
New Samsung TVs going forward (2022 onwards) will have the Gaming Hub capability, meaning streaming gaming apps for services such as Stadia will be able to be played directly from the TV - no need for the Chromecast.
Yeah I mainly play through the Stadia app on my Sony TV, it's a great job, just so accessible. It's particularly quick when using a TV that has Google TV as the UI.
The rollout to more TV's can only be a good thing for Stadia and cloud gaming in general. The advent of the Samsung Gaming hub should result in a lot of new users across the cloud gaming providers.
Stadia Pro Games for August
A very solid month I think, no standout games but definitely a few I would try. No interest in Calico and Murder By Numbers but I'll give the others a bash.
Also intrigued by the announcement that The Forgotten City is releasing tomorrow on Stadia, has anyone here played it on another platform? I have a massive backlog but if this was priced nicely I would be tempted to get it.
FIFA 23 is also announced for Stadia. Not out for a few weeks but you don't get a much bigger game. Supports cross play with PS5, Xbox and PC players too so no worry about match making.
Yeah I preordered it the other night for my sins.
Crossplay will make a huge difference to it this time around, matchmaking will be a doddle as a result.
Been a good few weeks for Stadia with Skull and Bones, FIFA, Saints Row on the way and plenty new indie games in July.
I'm playing Saints Row IV at the moment ahead of the new one, absolutely mental game.
Need a new game apart from Avengers!
There is around 100 games with 60-120 min trials on stadia now so plenty there to try to find a new game

Rumours it will be dropped soon.
Google really are terrible at this stuff.
Well if it was posted on a Facebook group by some guy who's friend works in Google then i'd say it's true.
Weird they are still releasing tons of developer updates and supports to make it easier to publish for a service they are shutting down.
Yeah I don't think so.
It wouldn't be that weird at all, especially if they are going to pivot to a b2b model for the underlying technology.
That is to say, I wouldn't take updates as any indicator that it has much of a future.
Just a bunch or pricks trying to unceremoniously end Stadia, based on rumours and hear-say!
Google will unceremoniously end Stadia when it is good an ready, thank you very much! 🤓
It's a common misconception that Google are pivoting stadia to be an out of the box cloud gaming solution. But in fact Stadia was just the first product built on that platform. So rather than stadia being turned into that offering. They are just officially offering the same tech to corporate customers.
They have been trialing it with other companies for a while. And they do that with all their products.
Google drive, docs, mail etc all offer a corporate version.
Yes, great, I know all that. It is not a misconception either, I just think you missed the point. The talk is they are pivoting away from running the consumer game streaming service, and the future of "Stadia" will be the b2b product underneath it instead. As you put it, Stadia is the first product on the platform, Stadia doesn't have to stay as a product on the platform.
Your post suggesting that Google still releasing updates means the rumours are nonsense still means absolutely nothing.
You look at what was promised with Stadia, you look at where it is now, the direction is clear. It is a question of when, not if, at this point. Stadia marketing is almost non existent.
Ignoring the highly dubious nature of the rumour. The shut down by the "end of summer" which is in a few days here, maybe in 4 weeks for those that consider August summer.
FIFA is launching on Stadia on September 30th.
So they are spending millions making it easier for developers to release on stadia. Building a whole new compatibility layer to run pc games without any effort to port.
They are just about to launch the biggest game in the business, and they will shut it all down, highlighting that it's not a viable business model, right as they start trying to sell it to other companies as their own cloud gaming system.
Sounds daft to me.
Nice promo for anyone that has an LG TV.
Available in all countries where Stadia is currently operating.
