Yeah the rear elevation is much much nicer than the front. It's ugly from the front IMO. And I despise the balcony off the main bedroom. It serves no purpose whatsoever. Who's gonna sit out there with their morning coffee to watch their neighbours go to work?? Waste of space.
Have you parked up there during rush hour/school run time and at a week and weekend night to get a measure of what it's like?.
Hope it works out for you, I like it a lot.
Very nice, @Mollyb60 ! Best of luck to you, fingers crossed 🤞.
I think its a lovely house. No work really needed - All you need to do is move your furniture in. The only thing that could be turning people off is that its over 3 floors and that the kitchen on the 2nd floor - this would turn some people off.
No far from it. There is a tiny tiny proportion of single places being built. The point is they shouldn't be a couple of grand a month. You can rent a house in the area for about €3k. It is the exageration of the real issues that distorts peoples perception.
It appear a person with a movement problem lived there based on the bathroom. Likely older due to the decor and furniture. So small is good. There are huge areas of Dublin with 3-5 bed houses with 1-2 people in them. Encouraging downsizing and remaining in the community frees up housing. We really have an occupancy density issue.
Thanks, my sister used to live on the embankment so we're well aware of the traffic situation around rush hour. The Ormeau Rd is one of the main roads out of the city centre so it can be extremely busy in the morning's and evenings. But a large part of our intention to move in closer to the city is so that we can walk into and out of work. So hopefully that wouldn't be a problem for us.
We sat outside it yesterday evening to see if there was much noise and apart from a few cars there was just birdsong and the wind in the trees. For almost city centre, that's very impressive. We're gonna head up there Friday and Saturday night to be sure but our offer has just been accepted so it looks like we're moving!
Thanks everyone for the input. Sometimes things can just be as good as they appear. Fingers crossed.
Delighted for ye in the hopes that all proceeds well..
@Mollyb60 congratulations, it’s a lovely house and I hope you’re very happy there.
Nice they want 2 million in Foxrock and the lift is out of order?
Probably cost a grand to fix the lift.
Should have put it up for €1,999,000.
So good they named it three times.
I love this house! But the BER rating is a worry at E2, given the whole downstairs is open plan that would cost a fortune to heat in this day and age!
Looks lovely to me, only thing I would have reservations about is the ground floor being a waste of space with the back door being in the living room? I could see it just being a through way.
Do you want to be a slumlord? Currently raking in 55k from 6 poor souls who have to live there...
These places are death traps in waiting. Extensive use of power adpaters and dodgy wiring is always a sign....
Goodness what a warren. Its very hard to see how all the staircases work and how it all fits together.
Eh it think that's a standard old style signal cable
Yea - could be right there
Connected to a Sega Megadrive or something 😂
Be worth a few quid 😅
I actually can't see what is wrong with the place other than messy tenants and being a bit dated. Maybe I just have actually seen what rental property was like in the past. I don't see mold issues.

What's right with it? Old, nice original house, but front garden is now a takeaway, with kitchen exhausting to your roof. Access via the side of the house, extended, to horrible layout. Even removing the 6 foot ceilings downstairs, and 5 foot mezzanines, there's not a lot you could do to make this a nice house.
The accomadation is perfectly good for single people and I thought providing housing was a good idea what is your problem? It is pre 63 layout and no doubt housed many people for decades. You don't have to like it once it meets standards. the suggestion to own it makes you a slum lord is obviously an exaggeration.
By all means try to get them banned and make the housing crisis worse.
This is one slumlord selling to another they don't give a fcuk what the place looks like just how many poor people they can exploit in it.
Can you explain how this is a slum? Would you say that to the people living there? I know plenty of people that would be happy with that accommodation. Just can't see what people are complaining about. It isn't claiming to be the top end of rental market. Would you rather the people living there to be on the streets?
No I'd rather the people living there were housed in affordable housing somewhere not forced into a wretched slum like that a house converted into 6 flats is a slum and those who profit from it are the lowest form of scum.
Can't explain why it is a slum I see. What is wrong with them? No electricity nor water? Damp? Cold? etc... what are you using to define a slum?
The options are not allowing such rental OR the people live on the street. That is it which do you want? Making up another option up doesn't answer the question put to you.
Do you have any evidence of the landlord forcing these people in and making them rent from them? You should choose your words better to express and explain your views.
People have lived there for decades and how do you think they would feel if you said they were living in a slum?
People only live in these sh!tholes because they have no choice no one would willingly pay a grand a month or thereabouts to live in a box in an old house broken into 6 flats. The landlord responsible is a slumlord exploiting poverty nothing else.
Why do you not answer questions?
