The channel W is going freeview
Article is optimistic that it will turn up on Freesat in time.
Hello xxxxxx,
Thanks for contacting BBC Reception Advice. I understand you're enquiring about BBC Three in ROI on Sky.
We can confirm that BBC Three will be available on Sky in Ireland although we are unable to give any dates as to when this will be available.
I hope this comes as good news.
Thanks again and all the best,
Matt O'Shea

Reply from Auntie about BBC Three availability in Ireland on Sky!
QVC HD and QVC Style HD are now carrying content and EPG data but still testing.
11082 H 22000, 5/6, DVB-S, QPSK SID 50346 'Gemporia Craft'.
11597 V 22000, 5/6, DVB-S, QPSK SID 53595 'The Craft Store HD'
That's just a TP change from 11.582 H for Gemporia Craft
It's not a new channel, it's on Sky 670
Cheers for that. Can you guess I don't watch it 😂
Still hoping Gold and Alibi will go Freeview, I wont be holding my breath.
Freeview?
Free to Air
I would love to see Gold going free to air. Some good shows on it if your just after light entertainment. Surely it will eventually go that way, their audience figures must at least double when the channels become free to air and they can increase advertising rates.
4 Music appeared on Sky channel 139 today!
It looks like NBC News Now has gone behind the paywall 😕
Talk Radio TV has replaced the test card SID 52590 on 11426 V.
It won’t be on the Sky Irish Epg either, they only have UK broadcasting rights!
Isn’t it available online?
Yeah, broadcasting rights really shouldn’t be a problem for that channel, it’s all news.
It may be a licensing rather than rights issue - Sky now require channels on the Irish EPG to have an EU license (which for various reasons, usually isn’t obtained in Ireland but in the likes of Luxembourg or Germany) and if they’re mainly aiming at a U.K. audience they may simply not bother.
Some interesting placeholders popped up. All HD, all showing a green screen but CH4 EPG data
12168 V 27500 2/3 DVB-S2 8PSK SID 5213, 5249
12226 H 27500 2/3 DVB-S2 8PSK SID 5246
12363 V 27500 2/3 DVB-S2 8PSK SID 5202, 5248
Could these be CH4 HD regions?
maybe more 4, 4seven, film 4 going HD ?? fingers crossed😎
CH4 HD regions are rolling out this year so this is the probability
Channel W going free next week
W and W+1 will become free-to-air on Astra 2E, via the following parameters:
Frequency: 12129 Polarisation: Vertical Mode: DVB-S QPSK Symbol Rate: 27500 (27.5 Mbaud) FEC: 5/6
The Eden channel would be a far better channel to go FTA . The only thing on W is wall to wall Tipping Point.
^^^^ i sometimes think those channels only exist for ad revenue? entertainment seems to be secondary
I'm in agreement. People are willing to pay. That's why I dropped sky many years ago . I must have saved about 10,000 euros in subscription fees to the present day.
All channels (bar bbc) only exist for revenue
"W" currently FTA on 11082 H 22000 5/6 DVB-S QPSK
SD only
UPDATE: The UK version of "W" and W+1 are now also FTA on 12129 V 27500 5/6 DVB-S QPSK. (the one in the previous post is the Irish version)
Still SD only
no not all, channel 4 and ITV for the most part are their to provide a service and do so in turn esp channel 4
Maybe, Eden, Gold will follow sometime this year. Preferably the HD version of Gold.
Would like to see Eden & Gold as well. Eden is different to the other free channels and think it has a place. Same for Gold.
