Yep, bought a supermarket pump and got a puncture up in hellfire club. Tried to pump spare tube up with an aldi pump and it fell apart in my hands. Had to walk home with the bike. It amazed me the amout of cyclist i asked did they have a pump who said no on the way home. Ive since bought a mini pump for 30 quid, much better quality.
Do you actually need some? Aldi longmile road had loads this evening.
If it is not close enough, I could pass them to you on my next Co. Kildare cycle. (Maynoooth/ Celbridge/ Leixlip).
I'll manage but thanks
They have mid-layers in for walking at the minute. Picked one up for walking but I reckon it could do for the bike too with a base and jacket. It's effectively a long sleeve jersey without pockets but a lot heavier than my other long sleeve jerseys.
We'll see in the morning I guess 😂
just spotted this in an ad on twitter (it's the only cycling-related discount in the ad)
Aldi cycling specials on 24 March - clothing, helmets, more
Highly likely a lot of items will not be in stock on this date
Thanks. Although it's March 27th...
Yeah it's 27th. They have shorts, jerseys, jackets, helmets, sunglasses, a stand, various accessories, muc-off, rechargeable lights. etc
Must. Not. Buy. More. Liiiights!!!!!
I'm looking at lights at the moment, actually.
Anyone know if they're any good? There's probably little chance that the have the fitting to go on the bottom of an outfront Garmin mount...
Stoc up on muck off and another stand
Opinions on the rear camera? €50 for a full HD 1080, 135 degree angle, 32gb card included, 8h recording on a single charge. Plus of course their usual 3 year warranty.
I’ve used an Aldi rear camera for about six years, think it was €60 at the time, rock solid, decent quality. Only issue was changing the time each winter.
For anyone hoping to pick up either the lights or the workstand, it seems like they've been delayed
They have GT85 for €2.79 https://www.aldi.ie/c/specialbuys/dates/2022-03-27
Does it work on mucky reg plates?
Also the Muc Off Dry Lube (which smells like bananas)
I notice that the one sold in Aldi is Urban Dry Oil. Muc Off also make a Dry Lube. Anyone know what/if there are differences? My gut tells me no...
Somebody actually stole my stand...had it locked up in the bike shed in an apartment block, went looking for it last week for the first time in about 3 months, it was gone. Time for a new one so, which is alright as the old one was crap enough anyway. I had tried to get the Aldi/Lidl one before as I think its decent quality, but was always out of stock...
But seriously, who steals a bike stand??
So, what do people on here use GT85 for? Cleaning chains? Light lubricant for cables etc?
Cleaning, lubing, and everything in between,
oiling my hair clippers.
Not sure about the lidlyaldi ones but I recently got a cateye volt g70.1 (https://www.cateye.com/intl/products/headlights/HL-EL552G-RC/) that comes with a underside gopro style mount that fits under my garmin out front mount. It was exactly what I was looking for. Doesn't have a flash setting but I personally prefer a non flashing light.
There's always some lowlife around that'll rob things just because they can. I've had the hubcaps nicked off a 1997 Nissan Almera (halved the value of the car), a pair of Race Blade mudguards stolen from outside my apartment where I took them off to clean the bike and half a bottle of contact lens fluid nicked from a youth hostel.
They're grand I find to be seen or as an extra/emergency set. I wouldn't necessarily go bombing about country roads on the front light in the dark though. Slight annoyance on the front light is that you have to plug the whole light into a USB socket to charge. No joy on the fixing - its a rubber band to stretch around the bars
Wow thanks for the warning to check Cateye lights before I order, no flash setting on something that spec and price? I'd be raging.
I think the no flash is due to the German standard which it seems to comply with. Many brands have a separate model for this e.g. Garmin Varia
I'm also looking for a front light which goes below the extended out-front Garmin mount (as opposed to fitting a whole new mount - I'd like the ability to swap it between bikes without removing the Garmin mount each time). It's not easy to figure out which lights this works with though
I've tried lots of lights over the years and I've finally settled on the magicshine allty, great battery life on flash mode and has a quarter turn mount I have it mounted under my garmin, also have the garmin varia so all 3 can be swapped between 4 diff bikes in a few seconds, been using it just over a year in all weather with no issues.
