Regardless of how they feel about ol Vlad no Russian general is going to stand aside while NATO kills thousands of Russian soldiers.
Possibly already posted this morning but
Feel better?
I don’t understand why you repeatedly try to downplay and excuse Russian fascist aggression
Please point out where I downplay Russian aggression. And not once have I excused it, or have come within an asses roar of excusing it. Nor would I. Never mind repeatedly. I have been very clear what I think of putin's and Russia's criminal and murderous actions and too many Russians seemingly supporting it and that he needs to be stopped. I have "repeatedly" wished him dead with a one way ticket to hell and cheered on his army's fúckups and losses. I have stated my opinion that the previously and clearly autocratic state run by crooked and murderous billionaire pirates has fully and publicly emerged as a facist state.
Apparently all that's not enough for you? Do I need to start shouting what about the children and chemical attacks and genocide and all that to satisfy you and allay your apparent suspicions? Maybe another bag of Tayto and a lotto ticket with "DEATH TO PUTIN!!" written on it? In crayon. Oh wait, is it because in that last post I happened to question your monumentally simplistic statement that putin is grade A batshít crazy because that makes you feel better? Maybe that's it. You seem to have missed the part where I said this rally is his clumsy Russian state propaganda attempt to head off the shítshow that's coming to the homefront, or already has. And it's clear he knows it.
For someone who calls out the fact that Russia twists the truth, ignores facts and sees "enemies to our cause" everywhere you seem altogether pretty adroit at it yourself Ted. And as mindlessly rambling and jingoistic in your attempt to play to the cheap seats. Well that is easier of course.
Each day I'm getting madder and madder at the Russians.
Assad is on an official state visit to the UAE.
UAE seems to be positioning itself as the Switzerland of the Middle East - engaging with those with money/power and happy to ignore where it comes from.
They are not wrong. Interesting to see they've been advocating this for some time.
It's not dwelling on the past , it's about knowing history, and NOT repeating it over and over. The definition of stupidity is repeating the same actions, and expecting different results.
Poland saw the re-emergent Communist super State Vlad had planned long before others did.
No one listened as long as the cheap resources flowed.
Lol. You had to work on that one to shoe horn Trump in.
Dont sell them any F35s huge mistake
I must admit that I choose to follow Telegram channels rather than TV news to get information regarding Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Many OSINT professionals, even if part of that amateur network, follow the core rules of verification and impartial reporting. However, as we’ve become more likely to learn of Russian military losses through a 42,000 subscriber Telegram group organised by the Ukrainian government than the nightly news bulletin, and more likely to get our war analysis from niche experts pontificating in overlong Twitter threads than from TV news channels, bad actors have recognised the opportunity to co-opt the tone and format of OSINT investigations while pushing their own agenda.
Very interesting alright. The Kremlin know they're boned in the West as far as information goes. They've lost that battle pretty much completely. So are doing what they did in soviet times, looking to the developing world and areas with an existing anti western bias, or at least one they can twist to their ends. The problem for them today is the same information is available to Westerners and non Westerners alike. The Chinese know that hence the Great Firewall of China and putin has been trying to do similar at home with his attempt to Iron Curtain the internet. The further problem for him, and the Chinese know it already, is that the internet was built from it's origins to see blockage, IE censorship as a fault and route around it. Information will get through. His only Hail Mary hope now is that he can prime his subjects to reject it. This will likely work with older "pre internet" Russians, but over 40% of the Russian population is under 40...
The fact so many usually rear echelon well away from the pointy end commanders are getting killed seems to strongly suggest the command lines are weak and they need to be up front and in the face of their fighting men to push them on.
Poland changed from Russian gas to Norwegian gas as well, the baltic line.
They knew long time ago how the kremlin mafia operated, but even then Merkel in Germany didnt cop on
Merkel knew, she just didn't care.
Months after the invasion of Crimea she gave the go ahead.
TBH I was a lot madder at them when I thought they might be winning. That ship has sailed. IMHO they know it and are angling for the best retreat they can spin to their subjects. I'll be pretty surprised if the ink isn't drying on a "peace" treaty within the next ten days. The Russians will be able to claim they got "concessions" from Ukraine. No NATO chief among them. An empty concession as it wasn't on the cards for the foreseeable anyway. So putin who prosecuted this invasion on "No NATO!" which didn't really exist anyway, can say he "won" because, well it didn't exist anyway. The "denazifying Ukraine" stuff is a complete sideshow and putin can spin that any way he wants. I'd reckon the future status of the Donbas is the only sticking point now.
And the second the Russian jackboots leave Ukrainian soil, the EU should wander in. Nothing to see here, humanitarian and rebuilding aid you know. Throw a few UN types into the mix.
And yet, it was that self same state apparatus which told him what they perceived he wanted to hear, so fearful of him were they. So I'd imagine that at this point he does not know what or who to believe? He is one dangerous man at this point.
Putin is more focused on the non Western world now, rebuilding the old Soviet style leadership role against "imperialism and capitalism" etc.
Appealing to the radical left in Europe and around the world to make them useful idiots in the poor grab.
Viruses targeting particular nationalities is as nutty as Nazi head-measuring.
Calling the Ukrainian Govt drug addicts comes from Soviet propaganda from WW2.
Referencing the use of speed, the drug not blitzkrieg, by the German forces and their allies to keep going.
They could still "win", but in a different way
Continue to obliterate cities in Ukraine
Destroy as much infrastructure as possible
Drive as many refugees into "the West" as possible thus hurting those countries and their economies
Pass more totalitarian laws in Russia cementing power and making it possible for the regime to plunder and jail ordinary Russians
Target Ukrainian exports, crop season, anything to impact global supplies and "hurt the Western world" as much as possible
A continuous war will hurt Russia economically and internationally, but it can cause Russians to rally around Putin and gives him extraordinary powers to attack any critics, "traitors", perform purges, etc. For example, the dictator in Syria, Assad was arguably much more powerful during war than during peace-time. For Putin he could modify this to become a war of spite against Ukraine and by extension the Western world.
😮 Whoa!
That's very pointed indeed and cosmonauts are revered in Russia. Plus these aren't some blokes who just decided to rock up wearing yellow with blue. Every stitch, every gram of clothing and kit is picked out and picked over by a large number of people on the ground team and mission control who have to sign off on everything. They work in one of the single most controlled environments on Earth(and off it 😜). And one of the most public too. They're also usually military men in background on top of that.
For them to be able to do and so obviously and publicly that pretty much means they have enough widespread support from a fair number of people in the Russian space agency who support their actions. Wow. There might be a lot more anti war and anti putin sentiment in Russia than we think and he thinks.
Now we are talking.
Commander of Russia’s 8th Combined Arms, Lieutenant General Andrey Mordvichev killed at Kherson’s Airport.
Didn't the head of the Russian space program not threaten to maroon a US astronaut up there and smash the ISS into parts of Europe recently?
Maybe DJ, but I have the feeling they and especially he can't afford all that, and I don't just mean economically.
Excellent but is the will there, will he meet approval in public and modifications behind closed doors.
Russia is claiming to have fired a Kinzhai hypersonic missile in Ukraine.
It seems like a bit of overkill if true.
