So you're saying there is a chance 😁. These are actually very good points. I also think that having been a democracy, it's easier to revert to one. Russia was never a democracy and has always known dictators and strong man leaders. It would need a complete mentality change and cultural revolution. I'm sure it will happen one day, maybe not for a few decades yet. A strange country really. What is their identity? it's not wholly eastern, it's not western. It's this floating thing that straddles both and they can't quite bring themselves to take that next step.
If Belarus kicks out the Russians....could be the beginning of the end. Other regions would make a play!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but missiles were already fired from Belarus in the opening days of war? so it wouldn't be unusual if it was happening again.
A coup would be just the ticket though.
To be fair, it took the almost complete destruction of most major German cities, the dismemberment of much of Germany (Silesia, Pomerania, East Prussia), the complete military occupation of the entire remaining country and the consequent splitting up of said "rump state" into East & West Germany for forty years for this to happen. Oh, and a massive and painful internal soul-searching, especially from the 1960s onwards.
I fail to see how this could work in Russia, given the sheer size of that country and the level of indoctrination visible in the population. Not to mention that Germany had a very active civil society even during the Kaiserreich and the Weimar period, which informed post-WW2 politics, something that I don't see in Russia.
I don't doubt it but they LL be relegating themselves for an indefinite hellish future, constantly kept down and controlled by the Russians for Russians interests.
Definitely looking like a possible coup ,the whole deck of cards is starting to tumble
He is from the opposition. He posted this an hour ago. https://twitter.com/pavellatushka/status/1504182313130807297?s=21
Could it be an uprising resulting in attacks on Russian positions within Belarus? There has been hints that the armed forces didn’t like the prospect of attacking Ukraine. Russia also seems stretched and weak, posing a good opportunity.
Possible Coup or they using Belarus for full scale air assault on West Ukraine?
Been following this thread for a long time and stayed the hell out of it, however as much I enjoyed the debate and the obvious trolls in their underpants. I have skin in the game.
I'm Irish
all of the west of ukraine are now under an air raid siren warning
see https://liveuamap.com/ great site
This is what I'm thinking ,
Belarus is currently occupied
Sukhoi built some remarkable planes.
I say did, because somehow I feel like they're not going to survive this.
False flag attack?
There's always room for redemption and rehabilitation. Germany started two world wars and are now seen as quite a civilised country, if you discount oom-pah music.
Read through that guys twitter page, he's very anti Lukashenko.
I wonder if something else is happening in Belarus tonight
This is interesting ,
Have they launched against ukraine or are we looking at something going on internally in Belarus
Also those pesky nuclear weapons.
Unless this ends soon, then Russian oil and gas will become a thing of the past. Unless you are wilfully blind, you will have already seen a significant reduction in oil imports. Gas is more complicated but it is coming.
Based on the flags in his profile he seems to be part of the Belarusian opposition though?
Ermm so they are attacking themselves? I'm confused
Says enough about the Russians to do this to innocent women and children. I really hope Russia never exists again after this war. Scum of the earth.
These are the explosions in Belarus. I think this confirms sonic booms
They've launched them at Ukraine but they haven't made it that far?😐️
Explosions are heard in various cities of #Belarus.
Could be explosions or some sources are saying its jets hitting the sound barrier (sonic boom) on way to intercept Ukrainian air forces.

those lovely imperialist occupiers are doing the right thing.
Seems appropriate
Pavel Lutushka (Head of Belarus National Anti-Crisis Agency) has tweeted that Belarus has launched much of its airforce and launched several missiles
Kalinkovichi is in southern Belarus
It's how politics works. Biden gains nothing by an off the cuff remark like that but possibly jeopardises something. And yes, dictators tend to be tremendously thin skinned. 😂
Really, I thought
They don't want war to spread and they want Russian oil and energy. Dead kids and women matter less. This is the reality of politics. It's bleak
