Anyone know if there are likely cables going under the lawn from this box?

Looking to put up a fence around the lawn to stop the toddlers going out on the road but the electricity box has me worried about driving anything into the ground near there. Its not very visible but there's a kurb between the two lawns that is set into concrete. My plan was to bolt the fence shoes into the bit of concrete on our side of the curb. just worried that I might drill into a cable and die. Thanks

Shouldn't be cables under your lawn , that's most likely for street lighting with cabling that is armoured coming in via ducting under the footpaths.

Don't think it's street lighting looks like standard ESB pillar

Could be ducts going a few meter cabinets I reckon

If I remember correctly service ducts to cabinets don't pass under the gardens

It's a mini pillar feeding several meter boxes. ESB Networks will advise on the run of cables from it.

Footpath and driveway is the regulation route for service ducts to cabinet if memory serves

I am fairly sure that you can hire scanners from builder hire companies to check for underground cables. Don't do anything on assumptions that cables have been laid correctly by anyone.

Ideally if you know anyone involved in building they'll be able to get a scanner and check for you. Scanners are everyday kit for builders.

I've seem some pretty shoddy and dangerous work carried out, with inspectors getting paid off. So it does make sense to double check the lawn.
