More drone tech can't get to Ukraine fast enough, this stuff is invaluable for this type of war
Let's hope the Ukraine forces have everything available pointed at those ships / Landing craft.
If so, I recon not one russian boot will feel sand underneath.
Ukraine really fooked up and didn't develop submarine fleet or even keep old ones ticking over.
They lost one of their last ones in 2014 when Crimea was taken as it was sitting in Sevastopol.
Taiwan who is in similar if not worse long term position is spending fortune developing submarine fleet.
Ukraine has truck launched Neptune anti-ship missiles, but the Russians would have been trying to track them to eliminate them before they got near coast.
Id imagine his security team had a stroke when he decided that
The Yanks and Brits have no issue selling weapons to the Saudis who use them in Yemen.
You do know there is a difference between a Ukrainian and a Ukrainian citizen ?
Sure we have Irish citizens that have hardly set foot in Ireland and some recent ones that are from God knows where.
Sure isn't Helen going to fire out citizenship to everyone and anyone.
Haven't the Ukranians captured a fair few artillery and rocket barrage units. Surely they could be pointed towards the Russian Navy. They have enough firepower to level the city and fair few marines onboard to take it.
Russia will withdraw from the Council of Europe
After being suspended and before likely been thrown out completely
This is potentially a stupid question. But are all planes required to show up on that. Hardly a stealthy operation if a playstore app can track you. But then again, if they're not tracked how do commercial flights manage to avoid them? 🤔
Same as every war that was ever fought. Its us minions that need to look at our willingness to put our lives on the line for a nutter back at base facing nothing more dangerous than a trip down the stairs after he rolls out of the silk sheets.
If they could have made the guy talk they could have kept going but feed complete crap to the Russians and try trap them.
I can see no lack of volunteers for his firing squad.
Again, don't really see what it would achieve. It's not like people would go, "I saw the protesters getting beaten up in Russia, but one newswoman gets a slap on the wrist for same, so it's all fine, now." Wouldn't fool anyone in the West who's halfway engaged with the situation.
The bit in bold can often be a part and parcel of Russian propaganda and how they operate and how they can seem to Western eyes so obvious and clumsy. It's not because Russian people and similar who live un controlled autocratic states are any less sophisticated, but there are differences. We're so used to dealing with alternative viewpoints and narratives and lots of them and from birth and we have many 'fathers and mothers' of those viewpoints.
In autocratic states that's not the case to nearly the same degree. Those states and cultures differ in this regard. They have one viewpoint, one narrative and one 'father and mother' of those viewpoints and narratives and from birth. That's how the society is controlled. Now the viewpoint can be wide enough and you can debate within them, but there are accepted barriers you just don't cross. Within this framework you can make people believe anything, or believe it enough, or ignore the cognative dissonance and get them to swallow total nonsense because they're afraid of crossing those accepted barriers in their society.
Very like the hold religion and religious faith can have on a population and top down crowd and societal control is a big part of that too. You can have extremely intelligent well read people who've been born into and grown up in a religious background who will go along with the contradictions and cognitive dissonance inherent in that.
In both autocratic states and religion we forget that those barriers and surities are a comfort to those within them who buy into them. To step beyond that is both heresy and very scary. Especially if you live under those barriers.
USAF Global HAWK keeping a close eye on Russian Navy Battlegroup approaching Odessa. No Doubt its feeding tactical data to Ukranian forces. It would be great if the Ukranians possess anti-shipping missiles.
An interview with someone who was responsible for protecting Polish government trips incuding Iraq during war can be shortened to his words: get a place for a monument and bookmark the date. That trip is insane from the security point of view on all levels. If it gets hot they might not have a way out.
was it a ‘wheel’ rolling away
I'm just assuming he will be in power for a very long time regardless of how this war goes.
What's your take on how the war is going on a military front from both sides?
lets hope they have somehow mined the waters
First quote. Iceland?
Second quote: The drones were not the deciding factor in that war. An asset, yes like any other asset, but there have been a number of assessments since which looked at the numbers, Azerbaijan would have won drones or no drones.
Third quote. I’m sure that now this has been brought to public attention, the Russians will shortly set about fixing that. Idiots. Did they learn nothing from 1982?
We can forget about the notion that a post-Putin Russia will magically transform into a democratic utopia if we just dangle the carrot of lifting sanctions when he's gone.
I don't disagree that the West will have to normalise relations with Russia at some point in the future, but autocracy is embedded in the entire political system. It may be personified by Putin, but it is not his creation.
At best, we’ll have to settle with dealing with a less-worse face of it in the future.
Horrendous destruction

Never discuss moderation. If you have a query about any mod actions drop me a PM. The reason for this is very simple - this thread is here to discuss the topic, and the topic is not moderation
I am not going into reasons for any mod action here, although threadbans are usually announced in the thread, and are now ;osted in the OP
Secondly Yurt2 threadban lifted. Not because of people discussing it here, but because of assurances the user has given me over future posting
to avert a default on interest payments Russia may be able to use roubles to pay their debts as they are frozen out of access to the other main currencies, this could be a bargain basement chance for their creditors to get their hands on seriously distressed currency at a knock down price.

To be honest, maybe I am just old, but the before and after photos of her nose look the same
Jaysus… I hope those boats and sailor sinks to the bottom of the sea
I'd say they didn't use there Ukrainian citizenship to get through the border
We've donated the Sugarloaf to Ukraine?
Well there are two "ukranian" men that can be sent back to ukraine. Think rapists can be executed in times of war. They can clear mines
Ballsy. I wonder if the Russians will ease off.
