This is just Fox News stuff.
They may have been agents without even realizing. That's the thing, some people are more susceptible to being influenced than others.
A donation here or there, a quick meeting, friendships and networking, sub committees in Brussels etc, etc.
I've no doubt Russia apply these tactics to further their own interests.
Why would any Irish person willingly take this stance?
You're attributing a sense of decency to the Republicans that just isn't there. Aside from a minority like Mitt Romney, most Republicans see everything through a lens of how it can be twisted against the Democrats. A lot of them will double down on support for Putin if anything.
The Anonymous cachet will be VERY interesting indeed
Russians burning every bridge possible
Putin's career prior to his political successes was in the KGB. He uses many of the same techniques to manipulate and control those around him. People are afraid to move against him and he knows it.
Wallace is a contrarian, not a Russian agent. Let's not turn into America.
Just so everyone knows, archive.org is not a complete record. The registered owner can request take downs and the site complies without a fuss.
If SF want their archived statements removed from the archive record, there is nothing stopping them.
In that case may aswell unfreeze some of the cash and disperse it to the lessors to compensate.
Play them at their own game. It's robbery, pure and simple.
What about freedom of information? Are they covered under the FOI legislation?
The Interior Minister of Israel is getting into a spot of bother regarding Ukrainian refugees.
Lol.
Doing this will hit them far harder than IKEA and Chanel shutting their shops and not being able to get a Big Mac. It's self inflicted economic euthanasia. If anyone was in any doubt that this idea that Putin is a chess playe thinking ahead, this action proves he'd be outclassed playing tiddlywinks.
Wasnt even a highly regarded kgb member by any stretch
There is only one man…. for the job
The evil just drips off this one. She's fast becoming more hated than Putin himself.
Useful idiots would seem plausible. To be fair, there have been a lot of them on the fringes of politics. Some hard right figures like Nigel Farage and Marine Le Pen admired Vladimir Putin because, in their view, he embodied a hard-man no tolerance approach that they wished to copy and bring to their local politics. Left-wing politicians like Mick Wallace liked Putin because they could criticise the establishment through him, like "Does Putin have a point about [x]? Maybe if our government is wrong about that, what else are they wrong about?"
But, above all, whether right or left, a lot of these figures were given exposure by Russia Today. You have to say it was a canny move by Russia to give so much voice to the fringes of western politics, who then allowed that channel on their airwaves. So, from those fringe figures there was a large sentiment of, "The only station giving me a voice is from Russia, so Russia good." Russia probably betting that those same figures would eventually weedle their way into power and Russia would be quids in. Not too far wrong in that assessment. Maybe not made as many in-roads as Russia would have liked in some places, but still a good way to agitate and spread misinformation.
I wouldn't even mind so much if all those given voice by RT would at least just come out and flatly condemn what is being done by Russia at this present time, but some of these creeps are doubling down on the whataboutery. That's pretty infuriating.
Germany plans a supplementary budget and potential support for companies in danger of collapse due to sanctions imposed on Russia.
Aye, there's a lot of that about in Irish discourse and has been for a while. Ranting pro and anti trump, taking daft American political positions and the jargon they use and regurgitating it third hand with little thought. If anything it seems too many here are far more influenced by the divisive bipartisan no room for subtlety paranoiac hysterical bent of the Yank daftness of the last twenty years than either Brussels or Moscow.
I read that in a movie trailer voice.....
He thinks Russia are bigger than they really are.
The world will move on without them. Sure we will have some hardship, but we will adpat.
This whole war has shown him up to be way out of his dept and driven by ego. He has made decisions with consequences that will be irreversible for Russia for a long long time, well past his demise.
They're watching too much CNN/Fox/MSNBC.
Is that a Russian Minister? I've seen her photo on a few tweets. I wonder why they're including it - she's no Mary Harney
The sooner we stop electing these professional protestors of the ilk of Daly, Wallace et al the sooner politics in Ireland improves. They offer absolutely nothing to the electorate and line their pockets with taxpayers money while playing the contrarian for absolutely everything.
Boyd Barrett and Paul Murphy - the privately educated defenders of the downtrodden, give me a break. Objecting to any housing project in their own local areas. Multiple times on RBB's part. No solutions to any issues, only object, object and object again.
Il get my coat 😅
Check out those "truth eyes"
" It's a pedigree racehorse, not 2 hairy-arsed, drunk actors falling out of a pantomime horse costume "
You can take the man out of the KGB, but not the KGB out of the man
Under Putins watch Kremlin critic Alexander Litvinenko died in London that same year after being poisoned with a radioactive substance.
investigative journalist Anna Politkovskaya, a critic of rights abuses in Chechnya was found murdered in Moscow on Putin's birthday.
And so it goes on
Edit:
To add. Contrary to the view Putin wasn't highly regarded in the KGB please see the following
Actually it is pretty logical. UK and US will defend us in the almost impossible prospect of us being attacked.
