While SF have obviously disgraced themselves with their tacit pro-Putin statements over the years, Mac Dubhghlais is a member of Republican Sinn Féin, a confusingly named splinter party different to Mary Lou's party.
Was thinking the same. Expect it to be played in nightclubs all over Europe this summer.
Threatening to arrest company directors and confiscate the trademarks of major corporations is certainly one way of approaching the issue. They are totally nuts at this stage.
Waste of time trying to mediate with Putin. Better to spend the time and effort trying to find a way to get rid of him.
They must be modelling themselves on North Korea, at this stage
Two absolute bangers here.
Lmao, yeah they aren't gonna do that.
Even after the sanctions are lifted what companies are going to want to do business there
Sinn Fein and Continuity Sinn Fein.
The political party apple does not fall far from the "military" apple tree, it seems.
It's SF, the pinnacle of Irish political parties that will turn policy on a sixpence if they see political capital from it, or the wind changes. They're opportunists of the highest order and that's a high bar in Irish politics.
I can’t even look at Lavrov anymore never mind listen to his disgusting propaganda. I truly hope one day he’ll be sitting next to Putin in The Hague.
Again, any comparison to Hitler or Nazi occupation of Europe is not far-fetched at all
Why do the electorate not probe these politicians more?
That's probably what hit that convoy the other day where you can see it launch from the side of the road and the tanks start firing into the woods. Operating it remotely means firing at the smoke from the launcher achieves nothing. Great bit of kit.
I expect it will become an issue in some western countries when the next elections come around. I can't imagine the GOP will be too keen on being reminded of their pro-Russia/Putin stance in the past.
And yet the Republicans are using the whole Ukraine war as a stick to beat the Democrats with

Stupid CD-R Boards
Yes, but the Irish response to the Russian war crimes is relevant to this thread, and while most of our elected representatives have shown Ireland to be reasonable, compassionate and have represented us very well internationally, Sinn Fein and the Trotskyist SWP heads Clare Daly, RB Barrett and that lunatic Mick Wallace have been a disgrace to the people of Ireland.
We do not need to support NATO in order to oppose the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Sinn Fein and those PBP MEPs are acting as agents of the Fascist russian regime whether they are doing so deliberately, or are merely useful idiots
I'm expecting the or an anonymous dump to blow this wide open.
Its become very obvious, that many politicians in Western countries have been influenced. The Russians probably have detailed information on all of this.
In fairness, once again to the US they have been harping on for a while now about Russian interference in their political systems. The likes of the orange buffoon is a dead cert to show up.
For our own part to see Wallace and Daly almost doubling down on their stances. Two sickening **** should be banished from political life.
What do they actually do for their electorate when they are over in Brussels lobbying for Russia?? I see Wallace last week then making sure he was heard talking about agriculture. Not the time Mick after you were caught red handed and have plenty of questions to answer.
I'm more concerned about serving TDs shouting their mouths off daily about this war. People like Neale Richmond wants us to end our neutrality.
He's the man with all the answers.
Nuts is right T. It's like they've lost the bloody plot and are just lashing out wildly. The sanctions have shot them in the legs so in response they've decided to take their own pistol and aim it at their own heads.
The leased aircraft the obvious one. They should have let the lessors access them and take them back. That sounds like a climbdown, but it would actually be to their medium and long term advantage when this is all over, and it will be all over at some stage. Doing that would tell the international business community - which in many ways is more dangerous to a nation's interests than any army - that in the end no matter what they're willing to abide by international business rules.
But no. Because of how they're acting over just that 'small thing' Russia's goose is cooked now. No international leasing company will touch them for a very long time, nor will international insurance companies. Never mind that their economy is so small it's not worth the risk. That goes waaaay beyond airliners. Airliners are like fresh fruit, a very short shelf life because of maintenence regulations. And so the airliners are now essentially worthless. Bermuda has deregistered half of them so they're just very expensive scrap, the other half will be scrap by April, even if their registrars leave them on the books. They'll never be able to fly them in international air routes and internally they can't get spares so would have to scrap aircraft to keep others flying. Russia's once massive aircraft industry is a shadow of its former self and use western parts like engines and avionics, so they're screwed there too.
The obvious contrast between both sides
Well maybe we should end our neutrality? It is certainly a debate worth having. I would like to know the opinions of all political parties on the war in Ukraine and our response to it.
Acting as agents for Russia.
This isn't Fox News here.
You're accusing Irish citizens of being agents for Russia.
Calm down.
It seems that (ironically), the Gremlin has been investing in dissident and separationist contrarian parties and independents throughout Europe. The old adage of divide and conquer. By stoking the nationalism and “anti-war” narrative, they have been undermining the cohesion of our democracies
I suspect that we will see a lot of money being invested in the parties which promote anti-NATO/anti-EU rhetoric
We need to join NATO. This fanciful idea we are neutral and hoping the UK and US will defend us isn't logical anymore.
But if a party is rapidly willing to do a 180 on its long-standing policies because they are no longer tolerable to their electorate, it makes one wonder what their real stance is and how much integrity this party has.
Also, a relevant question is to ask why did these parties espouse such opposing views, even back in 2014? What was the driving ideology behind their pro-Gremlin stance?
Yes and people like Mick Wallace, Clare Daly and RBB may well be agents. At the very least they are useful idiots who have had a pro Putin stance for many years.
why any Irish person would take this stance willingly is questionable…..
