If you ordered before oos, Argos are usually pretty good. If not... I missed it too. Another reason to dislike these 'store' threads, especially with the new boards.
i'm confused - how do you miss it when it's stickied - it's at the top of the forum, to make it easier and faster to click into? The Argos and Amazon threads are the first i check when i go to the BA forum?
I would assume many people browsing only click into a thread if they find the thread title has intrigued them.
yes, but anyone visiting bargain alerts only has one objective - bargains. and for the stickies the thread title is set - if there's a new post, i always check it. I can't be the only one that checks BA 3 or 4 times a day?
You're not, but most people don't as, presumably unlike the both of us, most people have social lives and such. They do not have the time to open a particular retailer's thread just because it contains a new post when that post could be about any of their thousands of items.
I might have been away from PC for that day and hadn't checked phone for it. I only noticed somebody mention the drive a few days ago, and I couldn't find what they were referring to when I scrolled back. It's better imo when each bargain has it's own thread. The same way it is on all other bargain forums I know of.
For example, if I login to Boards and check the BA forum, I can see if anything new straight away, but with the Argos and Amazon threads, I would have to go into them and may have to go back a page or two and still miss something.
It's not a major gripe, just (as mentioned) each BA having it's own thread is better imo.
Is this hard drive power from USB or via a plug socket?
clicking on a thread SHOULD bring you to the first new post since your last visit. the operative word being SHOULD.
Miss the email notifications on subscribed thread !! They were great
Picked it up earlier, priced as when I ordered. The drives appear back in stock now to order, however when you enter your details to order it then says out of stock, unsure if there's a set limit per store or if deal is now over, tried a few and all out of stock.
It's mains powerered.
i was able to order 2 from 2 different stores for collection near the end of the week (Tullamore & Athlone) I only need one so if anyone needs a reservation i will post the unused one later in the week
I could really use one if you still have the extra reservation and wouldn’t mind messaging it to me.
Reservation number: 930769
Reserved at: Dundalk Retail Park Argos
Reserved

If anyone is local to Louth and wants to get one this week
heads up the price has changed on the argos system to €120 for the seagate drive, but if you show your reservation email with the €60 they will adjust it
Yup.
Collected mine earlier. "Oh, that's a good price" says she. "That's why I ordered it!" says I.
Are these harddrives mains powered or standalone?
Got mine today for 59.99 :)😁
it's mains powered
I have on of the hard drives ordered for tomorrow
Picked mine up today, €59.99 after showing the email. Thank you BA
Yes not sure what I am going to do with mine, may remove it from the casing and instal in a desktop computer.
I have a code for Longford that needs collecting today if it helps anyone?
(for the 6tb hd)
Been looking for an ereader, (Kobo Clara HD), searched for it on Argos and the price is coming up as €109.99, but when I go to reserve it, the price is €139.99.
Does this happen often? Is it a case that the sale for this item is over and just didn't get updated on the search results?
The price on the UK site is discounted, so could potentially get my partner to grab it for me.
The price is showing as €139 when I check that model.
Argos are normally pretty good if you reserve at a lower price and it changes when you go to collect.
Saying €139.99 for me too. You may have a cached version in your browser. It'll update itself eventually or try pressing Ctrl and F5 and see if that refreshes the page.
this any good for €170?
I was interested in this myself but it seems to be out of stock everywhere. Argos UK also have it listed as out f stock
Keep trying, I managed to get one reserved.
I have an earlier version and loved it. Only problem with Chromebooks is no Adobe editor, I had to buy a cheapo laptop to do certain job applications during lockdown as couldn't do them on my Chromebook when forms were dynamic PDFs
4TB Seagate Expansion external Hard Drive for €69.99 with 2 year warranty and availability in store.
Not as cheap as the 6TB above but that's back to nearly twice the price now so this is a lot of storage for your €
I’ve just reserved one. I’m not very techie - I’m wanting a hard drive to back up my laptop with certain documents etc. Will this do the job? TIA
