Looks like russia blocked Instagram today.
Shutting down all social media won't do them any good at this stage
Don't forget about that time Russia planned to launch a first strike nuclear attack on china because the Russian regime thought china was going to be more powerful than them
Will be poetic justice / Karma so for Putin....because that's exactly what he did with Assad.....he left Assad hanging each he wanted something more.....then when Assad gave in, Putin comes to the rescue !!! Again... LOL
They could just sell missiles to Russia, not much the west can do about that.
Strikes me that is not in Russia’s interest for anyone to know they are looking for arms from China, until they actually get them, as until then they look weak and exposed. Makes me think it’s China that actually leaked this suggestion, to make Russia look weak and exposed
Interesting. Didn't know that and I agree with your assessment. There's so much going on in this conflict. It's an international war, without being a world war.
Its hard to see what China would gain by getting involved with this conflict, they really have Russia by the balls as it is anyway.
They have the whole world by the balls. Between covid, the fractured Western economies and now this turmoil in Europe, they are fast evolving into the only dominant superpower.
But thankfully we can trust them because they are a great bunch of lads.
Yeah but they've still got
It's a huge chess move isn't it? Testing how far China is willing to go.
If they agree it changes everything. There is a massive alliance there.
If not, he has moved too soon and will not get the chance again.
Do you remember what caused the Arab spring when all those countries overthrew the governments. You know what caused it to happen so quickly ?
It was that Russia had a really low crop of wheat due to bad weather. Now add into that Nuclear energy to supply reactors, gas, oil, 80% of the components to make microchips, fertilizer and God knows what else. You get the picture now ?
There are China-US talks scheduled for tomorrow, so I guess the US is putting this story out beforehand in order to force the Chinese into commenting on the topic.
By the balls? They are sitting now analyzing what is going on before they move on Taiwan. It does look like they will not be waiting much longer.
Whatever about food inflation in Europe, people here have some capacity to absorb rising costs. And Europe can produce enough food to feed itself. China, and its population, are not in the same position really there. They do have plenty of food stored, but not an unlimited amount. The average Irish person can cope with the price of bread doubling. That might not be as easy for the average Chinese person
Other than boosting their arms industry, I can't see what China gains by wedding itself to a sinking ship. Russia has already lost, even if they manage to overthrow Ukraine in the end. It's now a sanctioned pariah country. If China sends in major hardware like tanks and jets, you can't hide that sort of stuff and I'm sure the west would slap some sanctions on China for that. The Chinese could send in ammunition and artillery shells on the quiet, but I really can't see them putting their eggs in the Russian basket case.
Yes, 'peace' talks are a total sham. Putin is a brutal tyrant and is not going to agree to some peace deal where he shakes hands smiling with Zelensky in front of flashing cameras.
Sure according to the Jerusalem times Russia were very close to making an agreement last week ,
The only reason Israel is getting mentioned is because Zelenskyy is Jewish
I'm not sure China would help.
1. Kind of goes against their long held belief about national borders.
2. Putin is a leper. Do you want to be associated with a leper or risk contracting what he has.
3. Suits China better to watch all its rivals batter each other.
4. They dont want to face sanctions either. A lot of Chinese citizens have become very accustomed to western lifestyle, technology, etc minus the democracy, free speech etc
a proxy war between China and the US on the border of the EU. That’s a worst case scenario that no one had considered in the discussions of worst case scenarios up to now
@Bayonet
I mean on CNN after war broke out, one of Christiane Amanpour's first questions to some guest she had on, was about Israel's position on this. A country the size of Wales in the M.E. is headline news during a war in Europe. It's a bit odd.
Is that the piece you where referring to?
The Same news site claimed 180 foreign fighters were killed in last nights airstrikes ..
Pure nonsense from a claimed news source in the ME
Must be the case. I say going forward governments and armies will look back on this invasion and see how not to do it.
Certainly looks like it.
Maybe find a different website away from boards
As
A can bé seen by the troops in Irpin.
China is the nastier and much more brutal and cold version of Russia.
It kind of is though, isn't it? Obviously you expect wealth flow to be weighted upwards to those with the capital but it's drastically one sided now. We're lucky in Ireland as well, the inequality way more evident in the States.
I can't see any possible benefit to China arming the Russians. What would be in it for them? Russia is a much smaller country and coming in as an ally of the Russians in a war / illegal invasion would only cause grief for themselves.
The A-Team are still sitting in the base waiting to be called upon.
Well I suppose if no-one else can help...
