The one other option to put an end to the present conflict is the one which ended the WW2 and which would mean taking Russias ability to retaliate out first and then inflict defeat via conventional or non conventional means
Doing nothing, we risk appeasing Putin with the growing possibility that if he succeds other countries in Europe may also be invaded. The problem there is that option requires support across multiple countries and alliances.
British government: The attack on a Ukrainian military training center near the Polish border is a major escalation- 35 dead
Jaworów (no idea what's the Ukrainian spelling) was attacked with rockets. 35 people dead. The town is 20 km from Polish border. There was a base for some pacekeeping and military training with instructors from NATO countries.
Stop projecting.
He's giving Ukraine a pretty good reason for further militarisation at the moment.
'Hemming and hawing about banning Russia Today'
I don't find this convincing at all. As I've asked before since when does Ireland ban TV stations? Not in living memory.
And now reluctance to censor is being characterised 'Pro-Putin'?
Unlike the early covid threads, there are only about 12 or so diehard pro-war posters on this thread all talking to each other. A lot of people aren't biting.
It would help if you knew basic history. The ones rattling on about "appeasement!!" quite clearly don't. Or much beyond the Inglourious Basterds version of it anyway.
That's crazy.. twice as many have fled Russia than moved into Russia from Ukraine (around 90-100K). It really exposes the hollowness of Putin's claims.
If you say so. But you're wrong. You not knowing what the word genocide means, and being a dick about it, is no skin off my nose. At least your posts are consistent
It really depends on how things progress and all he has to bargain with are the so-called breakaway regions. Ukraine will push back militarily against everything else and maybe even Crimea. He has absolutely no hope of demilitarising them and he may even accelerate militarisation.
Close to 1.7m refugees in Poland. They will be ale to get PESEL (Polish counterpart of PPS) oficially from Wed 16th, but the system already works.
That's a very bold statement..
Yes he does. And yes it is a genocide. It's literally a textbook definition of it ffs.
No he doesn't. No it isn't and no it literally isn't.
"The Ukrainian population is eliminated from their country". 🤦 The only place where he, you, I and everbody knows that is between your ears in your head. You are spouting hysterical sensationalist nonsense.
100%. And by the look of things, Europe should be able to defend itself against Russia, and Russia will be crippled economically. The defeat of Russia (Putin will be long gone to KGB heaven) will be nuclear disarmament of Russia.
Ukraine 2022
I literally gave you the definition of genocide. What Russia is doing falls squarely within it.
Like Sergei Lavrov, you are denying basic reality as a tactic. Bye now.
Weird indeed. You need to read what was written and not make stuff up. As detailed you proferred a multitude of pro putin / anti Ukrainian Refugee POVs. And there's no need to check previous posts - I can remember clearly the exact same copy pasta you've been employing in this and other threads. And I'm not the only one calling you out on that shite. Dissemble all you like, you're fooling no-one.
They are pro-Putin, they re-produce all his talking points and propaganda. They just have the "smarts" to avoid being direct about it now, and decorate all their mealy-mouthed views with "I am against Putin but". These people are a complete embarrassment.
It seems that as soon as some people are woken up when something they laughed at actually happens, they immediately choose to go back to sleep again.
The rejection of basic history is terrifying.
The only way sadly this is going to end, is for Putin to be given some version of a win. He can't leave or finish til he has that and has to escalate. Zelinsky knows that too, which is why he's pushing so hard for the peace talks.
And if Vlad thinks everything is going to plan in public, everything he's doing behind the scenes really doesn't reflect that.
This is the second such brain drain Russia has had. It happened before almost exactly a decade ago after Putin was re 'elected' when 22% of Russians wanted to leave.
No. I've gone with the junior cert level of understanding what the word genocide means.
Slight problem with your history. Hitler was emboldened because his annexations worked and far more of the population who were annexed welcomed him in. He got a hero's welcome in Austria(who were more facist than the Germans).
And the Allies were weak. France sat behind her Maginot line, Britain was stretched with their empire. They had a huge navy, but their land forces were below par. When the combined French and British armies went toe to toe with the Germans they were hammered and had to run away. America were isolationist and her air force consisted of a couple of thousand behind the curve aircarft. Russia had agreed to peace and carving up Poland and their army didn't have enough rifles to go around and their active airforce consisted of biplanes. There were no Allies.
Putin's annexation is bogged down and his army is seriously below par and his airforce is notable by its general absence. The Ukrainians even in the East don't want them there and are fighting back hard. He's losing men and materiel at a goodly rate. His country has been hammered by sanctions that will only get worse and the Allies of today are significantly stronger than Russia, militarily and economically and are remarkably united for such a disparate bunch and save for a few tiny tinpot nations of zero consequence like North Korea(he had to go to Mali for support 😂) the world is against him.
Oh and the small problem of nuclear weapons...
You've gone for the Sergei Lavrov line of "debating". Well done on that.
I love the way you're being a smart hole, then post the definition of the word you're trying to argue, only for it not to endorse your definition of the word
Funny times indeed
Russians are getting bolder, going for the headline grabbing air-strikes in the West of the country. Death toll from latest is up to 35. The Ukrainians need quality AA systems, allies should slip a few over the border.
Putin cannot ever control Ukraine unless the Ukrainian population is eliminated from their country. He knows that, I know that, you know that, everybody knows that.
It is flabbergasting that anybody would choose to deny it. Perhaps it is a coping mechanism to deal with the moral obscenity of the west standing idly by and letting it happen?
