Nothing on that anywhere.
An airbase I'm seeing.
I think that was a few days ago. Wasn't Iran but Iran backed militias. Them divils do be always out causing trouble.
@Bayonet - What I'm trying to say is, we're no different to sparrows.
A well intentioned analogy.
However, as the most intelligent and remarkable species on earth you would have thought mankind would at the very least ensure that we live in harmony.
Plus we don't have feathers.
Google brings up 2 previous attacks
Iran backed militias previously
Yes at the end of the day when you scratch the surface we are all still animals when faced with a battle for survival.
The problem is unlike sparrows the progress of humanity has eliminated any fight based on security of food and breeding rights, so instead establishment of power over others needs to come from psychological means. Fear is the most vulnerable aspect of the human mind, like most animals we are born with only two, noise and falling. The prospect of 'what might be' is entirely of our own invention.
Russia has been issuing threats at Sweden and Finland against them joining NATO, again, and recently:
>HELSINKI — Sweden’s foreign minister is dismissing fresh warnings from Russia that the Nordic country’s joining NATO would lead to retaliatory measures from Moscow.
Foreign Minister Ann Linde told Swedish news agency TT on Saturday that “Russia has nothing to do with our independent decisions,” referring to the Stockholm’s possible move to join NATO.
Russia’s Interfax news agency on Saturday quoted a Russian Foreign Ministry official saying the possible accession of Sweden and neighboring Finland to NATO would have serious military and political consequences.<
I wouldn't say conflict over food shortages are over. There are a lot of power struggles and land wars, but the animal kingdom has turf wars. Chimps will form a posse and go raid a rival chimp base. Most animals have their own turf and boundaries....we have borders. It's all the same.
When you sit and watch nature, as I've spent a long time doing - it's remarkable how similar we are to even relatively basic creatures like sparrows. In all aspects of behaviour, not just conflict.
Ukraine is not in the EU 🧐
In that case I apologise. The speed of this thread is a bit much and I obviously misinterpreted in my haste, sorry.
Iran has gone mental. I wonder if they notified the Americans beforehand of this strike to avoid mass casualties. If not, then this is a bit of a head scratcher for me why Iran would do this when they're on the cusp of getting sanctions lifted for a pinky promise they won't make nukes (they will)
Anyone know if it would be possible for Sweden and/or Finland to join NATO but not have it announced until it's official? Seems like it'd be the smart move and also, time to stop pussy-footing around Russia and actually make some moves.
It kind of sums up nicely the dangers of rapidly proliferating information on the internet. The narrative is constantly evolving and changing. People no longer know what to believe at the end… It all becomes a muddled mess, with both real and false information labelled with the same label of false news
I've just seen on the RTE news some 40' artics loading for for Poland / Ukraine, and it was all first class...long life products, porridge and other food stuffs, tinned and packaged, nappies etc...brand new and well wrapped. This kind of load can be managed, but even so, it will require warehousing + experienced staff. The various item's will have to be classified, and sorted into different kind of packs....by age, sex and Nrs. Family's V singles etc. It's far from a being a simple (especially where medical donations are concerned ) and is very complicated, if the maximum outcome is to be achieved. Imagine being a warehouse manager on the border, and you get a 40' container of mixed "donations",,,,the time and effort needed to sort through all of these donations, sort them into their correct category, and then dispose of the useless stuff. Which unfortunately they get a lot of . The Red Cross are the acknowledged experts in this field, and they work to tried and tested self developed systems. You can be sure that this refugee crisis is not their first one, they were already preparing for this eventuality long before the actual invasion took place, and when it did kick off, they were already in motion., just had to click the "Activate" button.
These mercs are the same lads who barrel bombed and gassed their own countrymen! I doubt they give a sh1t really. The other crowd Wagner there basically the Black and Tans.
If this gets reported on Russian media, maybe something like this: "neonazi sympathiser arrested after displaying obvious NATO white power insignia. Our brave policemen remove yet another threat to make the streets safer".
Apparently this is an old video.
Thanks, that is a relief.
Virgin airlines... United Airlines... 'Would passengers who have not had sex and do not wish to, please board your Virgin flight at gate 3...would all other passengers, please board your United flights at gates 1,2, 7, 10,12, 14 and 15 through 22 - thank you.'
Why would they launch anyway? Have I missed something happening to warrant this?
Motion to change the thread name to World War 3.
Also a poll needed on whether we are calling it World War 3 or World War III. Or even World War with a Vengeance
Genuine or is this a backchannel for funds to Russia?
Agree with this, but would also add that on the biological side, our most important traits (IMO) are that we are hierarchical pack animals like dogs and chimpanzees. This also explains why we fight even when we don't appear to have any immediate justifiable need except 'power' and control. Well, there is an important biological need being fulfiled, of course... power and control go right to heart of our hierarchical pack animal nature. Something tells me we need to work on this aspect of human interrelations (without losing all that is good about the things hierarchical pack animals can achieve when they work together).

Sweden seems to be more reluctant to join. Finland is definitely planning to join, even though they haven't officially said so - but all these things have happened over the last week or so:
I don't obviously know for sure, but in the next few months I'd expect Finland to either join Nato or at least sign a "major non-ally" treaty. The main thing is trying to make sure all Nato members support the expansion (worst thing that could happen is to apply, only to be rejected) and avoiding Russian counter-action during the negotiations.
To paraphrase harvel Keitel
Now is not the time to not be serious
Its been done before ...
Just adding to the red cross recommendations above. It simplifies the process and helps to ensure stuff doesn't get wasted. Volunteered with them quite a few times in hurricane and flooding relief in the US and Mexico and they are really on the ball and know what they are doing.
I know there's cynicism about relief agencies and big time ceo salaries, but there are also times you have to just suck it up, put these misgivings/excuses to the side, and do something imperfect if you want to help out at all.
But this conflict has nothing to do with food or turf, it is purely about extending the psychological influence of one person, and creating a buffer between that assertion and that of the western world. That is all it is about.
There is no animal instinct here, only an example of the frailties of the human mind, the wielding of greed and power on one side, challenging the fear of the future of the other to achieve it.
Putin has as much a fear of his own future as we all do, and somebody needs to call him out on it.
I think a starting point should be an attack on any military positions in Belarus. I can't see Putin backing up his lacky.
