I was watching a report on siege preparations in Odessa the other night. If you took away the sandbasgs etc. it would easily pass for Vienna or Prague. Crazy to think a sophisticated European city like that is gearing up for a Stalingrad-style onslaught in 2022.

Actually that will depend on how "Muslim" they are...There are lots of them that are Muslims in name only, but then at the other extreme, you have the likes of ISIS. And there are many Muslims out there who are middle of the road, but who will be very offended by any one denigrating Islam or attacking one of their Mosques. Would only take one Imam to issue a fatwa against the Russian military, and its head, Vladimir Putin calling for his death. And like the case of Salman Rushdie, even after he apologized, the Fatwa was not lifted ( to the best of my knowledge ) It would make life very difficult for Russians in general, and soldiers in particular.

I think what we'll find is that there is a lot of politics involved in fatwas against armies and heads of states and not just as simple as blowing up a mosque = fatwa. I expect mostly silence from the Muslim world on the issue.
