Yeah it's accepted they're already doing that. So we're wondering what the significance of this 'threat' is...
Indeed, you'd think that Russian forces on the ground in Ukraine must be feeling very exposed and a bit paranoid. To not only have to advance on an army dug in and determined to resist but to know that sophisticated intelligence forces are watching you and advising said defenders from afar.
Unreal the Russia is bullying the west, '' don't interfere of else'' while Belarus is like, '' sure we'll join in and attack Ukraine too''
While Russia is like '' we'll attack convoys supplying weapon''
WTF
West should be in there defending Ukraine, on Ukraine soil only! It should never leave the battlefield, this talk of Putin leveling New York is bull, it's a war he could NEVER win. If anything the west would wipe tho whole of Russian off the map
Yup, crashed mere metres away from a student accomodation building in Zagreb, the Croatian capital, at 11 pm. Very lucky it didn’t kill anyone as it crashed down. The claim is it is possibly Ukranian as it the type of Drone TU-141 Strizh, and that is being used solely by Ukranians - allegedly. But could be Belorussian as well, according to its range. It flew over Hungary to end up in Croatia.
Some small cracks in the official narrative may be appearing:
I don't believe this fantasy every one is spouting about Putin using Nukes. If Russia uses Nukes so do Nato and game is up for everyone but Russia will be in the process wiped off the map of the earth. I wouldn't even be surprised if Russias Nukes actually diddn work when you look at the state of some of their military equipment and tanks. Russia will be beaten also in nuclear war if Putin goes down that road but it doesn't matter to anyone at that stage as we are all dead.
Being flown into countries like Poland, then come across those their border with Ukraine.
Perhaps. An arms-length Wagner mercenary op with not-so-plausible deniability would be the most likely method of sabotage.
The UN is hobbled because Russia is permanent member and can veto
UAE are a bit funny, they see to be on the fence here a bit, but at least they are opened up the oil reserves to reduce global prices
They already have Baikal which is pretty decent
They must feel confident too that Turkey won't let anything happen to them
I know where they got the idea
How are the overseas weapons getting into Ukraine?
Very different era and that's one of Putin's miscalculations - he's old school and hasn't appreciated the full impact of social media and citizen reporting that has developed in the last 20 years. A new generation knows that information is available and word will be seeping back to Russian mothers and families.
I believe Russia via its proxies in the Georgia '08 war has its paws on a small stretch of territory that critical pipe runs through on its way to Turkey. Keep an eye on that. Sabotage is a distinct possibility.
Azerbaijan could indeed go a long way towards undermining Russia's energy coercion strategy, but Russia won't make it easy.
Give it s while, like when they start drinking Koke Kola
Excellent article, thanks for posting
Up to the UN to get it's sh*t together. The League of Nations fell asunder, the United Nations could go the same way if this war escalates further. Vetoes are all well & good until they are exercised by the main protagonist. Up to the UN to find a way around this.
On related matter where is the UAE in all this? It was noted that they sided with Russia, Belarus, North Korea in a UN vote on condemnation. There's a lot of 'funny money' in UAE - a long hard look needs to be taken there. And plenty of Irish working in finance in UAE.
Not a hope in hell would they attack any arms depots in Poland for instance, but once they cross the border then its game on regardless of who is transporting it.
I wonder how so many of those on the "Christian" right (mostly Americans) who championed Putin as a bastion of protecting Christianity and keeping the west white feel about him sending 16k Muslims from the middle east to slaughter white Christian civilians in Europe. Radio silence you betcha.
Good guy Armenia
Quite a few Russian based commentators are saying that apart from a few pro-war zealots and some people mumbling about the economy, most Russians don't seem to give much of a damn and actually seem quite oblivious to the whole thing. The propaganda itself is simple to maintain, they did it for decades during the Soviet era (and had none of Putin's sophisticated media apparatus).
Lots of the Oligarchs managed to overcome the sanctions in the U.K. and evade the sanctions. Apparently, £1.5 billion was moved from the U.K. before the sanctions hit.
Very disappointing stuff!
The world did not ask or expect the US to mess with Vietnam or Iraq and Afghanistan was their choice, and probably the right one. They made a rod for their own backs on all fronts, from terrorism to ME 'interventions, because of their ludicrous support for Israel. Had they forced a two state solution on Israel long ago, when they should have, the world and the ME would have been a totally different place, IMO.
I do agree with you on Europe standing on it's own feet militarily. Globalisation has been a bit of a disaster in that it virtually extinguished the notion of self-sufficiency in almost all areas, something I have thought was a massive mistake for decades, particularly the enabling of China.
Would not come as a surprise to them though.....the Russians destroyed enough Mosques in Syria too.
I was actually wondering this as well...
Actually worth reading, someone pointing out there is a major difference between the West and other civilisations that exist currently:
https://www.newyorker.com/news/q-and-a/stephen-kotkin-putin-russia-ukraine-stalin
That will depend very much on what the Russians at home are told...and going by present media sharing its quite likely to be the opposite of the truth. Having said that, it must be getting harder and harder to keep the cover up going.
When Berlin was besieged there was the Berlin airlift. If Western countries did this for Ukranian countries would Russia dare to attack western Humanitarian supplies.
