The thing about the Mig deal is that it's massively public. Biden isn't dumb enough to openly stoke tensions beyond a point of no return on this, but it would be pretty stupid to assume that what is publicly-announced is the extent of the U.S. operation regarding Ukraine at this point in time. I am not referring to some sort of squad of crack commandos, in full U.S. military gear when saying that, but to ununiformed operatives providing tactical support. They had already been there prior to Russia's invasion, apparently,
I'm seeing a lot of people who seem to have a lot more time for Russian social media 'creators' than they do for the fact that their government is waging a brutal invasion, killing large numbers of people, destroying cities and towns and infrastructure and displacing millions and needs to be sent an economic message somehow and it's impossible to do that without comprehensive sanctions.
But someone please think of the YouTubers.
If things are just allowed to go business as usual, they sit in the bubble, ignore politics and everyone shrugs and the horror go on. That's been the scenario before.
What sort of nonsense is this? Escalation involving NATO and Russia has huge risks - involving nuclear weapons. I'd be glad of a risk-averse US President in these circumstances.
I don't know what your point about US boots on the ground in Ukraine is. They are in Poland and the Baltics for very sound defensive and deterrence reasons.
Thank God the Orange Buffoon is not in charge!
This is worrying
Where are you getting this from?
From the Black sea specifically. Which was what the person I was talking to said. Do the Russians have subs? Wow, tell me something else surprising 🙄
Meanwhile in Russia: Yelena Osipova, brave survivor of the Siege of Leningrad, out protesting again in St Petersburg. “Soldier! Lay down your arms and be a real hero.”
After she's been already arrested, she goes back out again alone to protest for peace. In an increasingly fascist state that punishes dissent with prison and beatings. That's a hero right there.
Plus it's highly unlikely she's on social media or viewing western 'propaganda' via a VPN, so if an elderly lady like her knows all is not what it seems and all is not right, then there's fúck all excuses left for ordinary Russians.
He'd be too busy tilting at windmills.
I wonder what it would take for NATO to get involved.
They won't leave NATO, nor should they.
If they were to engage Putin separately, he has nothing to respond with apart from nuclear.
Nuclear is all Russia has. By the end of this, their army will be decimated with limited means of replenishment.
Putin is a moron, he has given the "West" carte blanche to keep Russia down for the foreseeable future.
Russia's only hope of engaging meaningfully with the world in future, may be to disarm their nuclear capability.
Nothing the Russians are falling apart themselves. They don't need nor want to give putin any ammo to mobilise sentiment at home. Including moblisation
Now we just need the younger generation to have her courage. God bless this lady.
NATO to be attacked... this isn't hard to understand.
So who cares? It's not as if putin needs or cares about popular support from Russians. The bottom line is if Russians really want to prevent their country from going further down the toilet then they have to overthrow putin. I really don't want to hear any more about the " poor Russians don’t know what’s going on" .many many countries around the world including our own have risen up against tyranny so the Russians need to either rise up or continue living under tyranny + the prospect of being vapourised at any moment.
@Curious_Case
Yes, certainly in the short term, anyway. That and/or huge regime change. In a way, Russia losing its nuclear capability would be a bad thing as it might have been the only thing stopping the USA doing absolutely whatever it wants was that it had this other country with roughly as many nukes, and vice versa.
This does, however, require the nuclear powers in question to not go too mad, and Russia has gone a bit mad.
If any NATO country attacks another country NATO is not obliged to come to their defence vis a vis Poland going on a solo run.
Would love to think that Putin must be privately taken aback with the Ukrainian military response and more so utterly shocked at the western response of sanctions and lethal aid. Not to mention the strengthening of NATO alliances and the political, economic and military togetherness of the EU.
Russian roulette time Putin!
Just highlighting this absolute guff, this is what you're dealing with when it comes to anti-everything American brigade. Totalitarian regimes not having nukes is bad because, America and stuff.
The Russian Defense Ministry told of new crimes committed by Ukrainian nationalists and attempts to conceal the work on nuclear developments in Ukraine:
In Kharkiv, in order to conceal nuclear research work, fighters from the terrorist defense battalions blew up one of the buildings of the Institute of Physics and Technology. Up to 50 employees of the institute may be under the rubble;
Also in Kharkiv, in the basement of an art school on Yesenin Street, militants are hiding the bodies of civilians killed during a punitive operation against those who did not support the criminal Kiev regime;
In Sumy, nationalists conduct raids on private households, during which, under the threat of physical violence and murder, they forcibly confiscate food, fuel and lubricants, equipment, and personal vehicles from people;
The Kiev authorities have forbidden city mayors any contact with the Russian Federation, including the organization of humanitarian corridors. Anyone who disagrees is simply shot.
What have they put in the water supply?
There was a picture of a captured encryption system which included a 1970s style rotary dial telephone and a computer that looked like something from the early 80s.
Lukashenko claimed today that Belarus was just about to be attacked or invaded by Ukraine on the day the war started (!) and that this attack or invasion was scheduled to commence six hours after Putin launched his own invasion : in other words, thanking Putin for saving Belarus.
So, this could all be tied in with that tweet above.
Guardian reporting a third general has been killed
Koala's are aggressive little biters. I certainly wouldn't square off against one without a good lump of wavin to beat it!
A lot of warnings coming in now that the Russians are cooking something up, a provocation, false flag, etc
Not networked, they will be the ones laughing if we're attacked by Cylons.
Reports that Russian fighter jets launched an attack on Belarusian villages on the border from Ukrainian territory and troops pulling back out of Kyiv. If true Russia is cooking up something and it won't be good.
Would anyone even in Belarus believe that Ukraine would launch a pre-emptive strike against Belarus at a time when it is fighting a defensive war all over its own country to repel an invasion? Putin and his pal Lukaskenko have totally lost the plot if they go down this route.
This guy
You obviously didn't read the whole post or did not take it in. I'll repeat the closing line,
"bit mad" being some po-faced understatement, there. Totalitarian would definitely be a more direct way of putting it. It's not about America being bad, it was an opinion about balance in the world order, mutual deterrent, and that if only one world power possessed an awesome superweapon, or at least way more if than anyone else, that could give them carte blanche to do anything they like, and we'd all just have to hope that they remain magnanimous toward the world.
Also said,
and vice versa.
In other words, the current balance would also be lost if it were the USA giving up its nukes, and it would be same potential situation. Probably more so, given how Russia is currently acting, and in light of that, something will definitely need to happen with or to their government and their ability to wage a war like this ever again.
Extremely worrying. Only two possibilities here, they are getting ready use chemical weapons themselves and blame it on Ukraine, straight from the Syria playbook, or they are building a false flag justification for something even worse like a nuke on Kiev to end the war they are losing on every front.
