Thank God the Orange Buffoon is not in charge!
He'd be too busy tilting at windmills.
Meanwhile in Russia: Yelena Osipova, brave survivor of the Siege of Leningrad, out protesting again in St Petersburg. “Soldier! Lay down your arms and be a real hero.”
After she's been already arrested, she goes back out again alone to protest for peace. In an increasingly fascist state that punishes dissent with prison and beatings. That's a hero right there.
Plus it's highly unlikely she's on social media or viewing western 'propaganda' via a VPN, so if an elderly lady like her knows all is not what it seems and all is not right, then there's fúck all excuses left for ordinary Russians.
From the Black sea specifically. Which was what the person I was talking to said. Do the Russians have subs? Wow, tell me something else surprising 🙄
Where are you getting this from?
This is worrying
What sort of nonsense is this? Escalation involving NATO and Russia has huge risks - involving nuclear weapons. I'd be glad of a risk-averse US President in these circumstances.
I don't know what your point about US boots on the ground in Ukraine is. They are in Poland and the Baltics for very sound defensive and deterrence reasons.
I'm seeing a lot of people who seem to have a lot more time for Russian social media 'creators' than they do for the fact that their government is waging a brutal invasion, killing large numbers of people, destroying cities and towns and infrastructure and displacing millions and needs to be sent an economic message somehow and it's impossible to do that without comprehensive sanctions.
But someone please think of the YouTubers.
If things are just allowed to go business as usual, they sit in the bubble, ignore politics and everyone shrugs and the horror go on. That's been the scenario before.
The thing about the Mig deal is that it's massively public. Biden isn't dumb enough to openly stoke tensions beyond a point of no return on this, but it would be pretty stupid to assume that what is publicly-announced is the extent of the U.S. operation regarding Ukraine at this point in time. I am not referring to some sort of squad of crack commandos, in full U.S. military gear when saying that, but to ununiformed operatives providing tactical support. They had already been there prior to Russia's invasion, apparently,
No sympathy for them.
Especially hioping to see the Chechens slaughtered so that the ones back home can have hope of revolt.
Also they are utter scum.
Remember Gulf War 1.
Saddam's army on paper was massive.
But it turns out they were cr**, full of poor kids that didn't want to fight, hence with very poor morale.
Oh yeah the Republican Guard were not bad, but that was because they were the ones looked after to keep old Sadam in power.
Same thing happened with Argentinians in Falklands.
One of the few times in recent history (last hundred years) where an army of a despotic led state really battled well was the German Army in WW2.
Italians were cr** and Soviets weren't much better for long chunks of it and thus had to fling millions at it to achieve anything.
And a lot of that was due to leadership on the ground, good training, good equipment and sadly a huge believe in what they were fighting for.
Add in the massive level of corruption in Russia over the last few decades and it ultimately only makes for one thing, failure to prepare.
They're the LAST people you wanna be **** on
Our thoughts are with the Russian thots 😐️
Probably much the same as what Dr Evil thinks of No 2 or Monty Burns thinks of Smithers.
If he does either of the 1st 2, he's blaming it on the Ukrainians.
I saw that video. Complete clown show. It look like some were trying to reverse, others going forward almost hitting each other. All these decades we were afraid of the Russian bear...turns out it's a Koala. Actually they're cute, so not a good comparison.
Those lads should be putting bullets in Putin
FSB on Putin's sh*tlist.
Russia, the bigger North Korea
Yes but would they jump the gun and get involved now? Taking in a lot of refugees, Polish public opinion hostile towards Russia. I'm thinking they'd need to disengage from NATO first. No idea what the process for that is but one assumes that it's not quite like Brexit and might only need an executive order from the Polish government.
Looks like Instagram is about to be blocked in Russia, decision already announced by the authorities.
He looks like man with a gun been pointed at this back in this one
You were talking about a Russian missile attack on Ireland having to travel across European countries first, no doubt hoping they will shoot it down for us.
I just pointed out to you that they can fire said missiles from the ocean. Sorry to upset your fantasy.
Its because all these wonder weapons are bullshit or optics to roll out on parade.
We're seeing the real Russian forces in action in Ukraine. Outdated, badly maintained and poorly trained troops. Even their so called elite troops engaged like headless chickens. They're great at killing civilians but if they come up against any serious opposition they fall to pieces.
Watching released Ukrainian drone footage from a couple days ago where a Russian tank column bunched together when they were being hit by drones shows how badly prepared and trained they are. Apparently a senior tank commander was killed during that engagement along with 6 tanks with others being abandoned and captured.
I wonder what Putin really thinks of this guy
Putin planning a nuclear catastrophe at Chornobyl.
Like a lot of their stuff it appears in propaganda videos but thats about it ,it's like looking to India to help pay to develop their new not so stealth fighters
Ahaha. Honestly I was expecting this high tech assault on Ukraine. Not to minimise what they're going through, but I mean a Russian drone just got shot down and it's from the 80s. They're using 80s tech for their drones. Even their best tanks are getting cooked. Absolute shambles.
It's been floating around off the coast of Monaco with government leaders on it.
It also is bricks and mortar in trendy London basements three floors deep.
Tied up in crypto too no doubt.
I'm not expecting anything much in the way of protests for the moment. A possible game changer would be if Russia defaulted on its debts and the economy crashed overnight but probably nothing much in the meantime.
It's bizarre though when you look at the propaganda (including some of it that's spilling in here from time to time.) They seem to think they should be able to just invade their next-door neighbour with a huge army, bombs, aircraft, tanks, murder people left right and centre and if they dare defend themselves or even say no, somehow the Russians are the victim.
Meanwhile you've various people throwing their toys (literally - iPhones etc) out of their pram in Russia itself for social media ranting purposes.
It's by far and away the most bonkers and blatant use of propaganda I've ever seen in a conflict. I think though they've entered the uncanny valley of PR though where it's not just cartoonish and unbelievable and most people can see it for what it is.
Considering they were invented by a fellow Irishman (look up their history) yes. Now, go back and read the discussion we had, not what you wished we had.
Besides, Russia sending a missile anytime soon at Ireland - give me a break. He'll most likely need his full arsenal against his own people soon.
