I respectfully suggest that if Putin thought there would be little resistance, then he really doesn't understand Ukraine at all. Quite embarrassing for a man who wrote a lengthy article last year claiming that Russia and Ukraine were spiritually one.
I haven't read his article, but if it is true that he saw Ukraine and Russia has been spiritually won then maybe that explains why he thought they would be more welcoming of his military coming into the country Ukraine also has a large ethnic Russian population and maybe he thought as well they would be far more supportive than they appear to have been.
All it shows is that he's completely deluded. He's either ignored the militarization of Ukraine, the election of a pro-west president and the very preparations made to withstand Russia's invasion, or he has twisted these facts to fit some grand conspiracy in his head. It's a fundamental and monumental intelligence failure consistent with the joke that has been Russia's attempt at invasion so far, given the supposed massive military superiority they allegedly possess.
@BurgerFace why are you still posting in this thread? Does this not ring a bell
Take a break from the forum for a while
At some point NATO are going to have to get into a shooting fight with em, can't be ruled by fear and let an aggressor do as they will.
The sooner NATO lights up Russians in Ukraine the better, there won't be a single Nuke launched either.
Are the Mods drunk?
Get with the program. Coke and hookers all the way
Today I watched a BBC interview with a Ukrainian parliamentarian who hasn't heard from his parents, who are in Mariupol, in 5 days, where there are at least 1200 civillians dead. He said he had recently received eye witness testimony from personal acquantances in a small town, the name of which passed me by, that described how Russian troops are killing civillians for fun. One account was that they went to one house, knocked on the door, then demanded food. Not satisfied with some, they took everything they had. At another door, the couple refused so they just killed them. The second account was from a person who said They saw Russian soldiers kill their neighbour for fun - for sport - a laugh.
Personally I think people on the internet throwing unpleasnt words around is rather unimportant, in the context of what is happening to Ukrainians in the real world.
About as many times as I need to refer to a former Russian foreign minister who thinks Putin is bluffing and would not use nuclear weapons if Ukraine got some assistance.
>Andrei V Kozyrev
@andreivkozyrev
So, in my opinion, he is rational. Given that he is rational, I strongly believe he will not intentionally use nuclear weapons against the West. I say intentionally because indiscriminate shelling near a nuclear power plant can cause an unintentional nuclear disaster in Ukraine.

I will take it a step further. The threat of nuclear war is another example of his rationality. The Kremlin knows it can try to extract concessions, whether from Ukraine or the West, by saber-rattling its last remaining card in the deck: nuclear weapons.
The ultimate conclusion here is that the West should not agree to any unilateral concessions or limit its support of Ukraine too much for the fear of nuclear war.<
Came across this YouTube channel that was suggested in the comments of another person video. He gives a fair and balanced view of what is going on and tries to explain what the Russian army in Ukraine is doing.
Unfortunately it's not looking good for the Ukrainians I think maybe Putin has good reason to feel confident when negotiating with President Zelinski.
Either way, I'm sure we can all agree the sooner this war draws to a close, the better on both sides. Innocent people are suffering in one way or another.
OMG I HAVE GOT IT.
I know why Russians are writing in the western alphabet on their tanks instead of Cyrillic its to appeal to a maga type alt right western audience and supporter who can't read cyrillic but can get behind a Z. I would say other symbols are to appeal to other peoples maybe.
Ugh ...im glad i cracked it ..that was annoying me.
Bombing the experimental Nuclear reactor at Kharkiv IPT again it seems, and now complete loss of contact with the staff of Chernobyl (which is separate to yesterday's loss of transmission of systems from Chernobyl and Zaporizhzhia NPPs). You would wonder if there is an agenda with NPPs?
Incidentally today marks the 11th anniversary of the worlds last major (classified as the second worst after Chernobyl) nuclear disaster when the Fukushima Daiichi NPP was damaged by tsunami in Japan. Hopefully it retains status as the last nuclear disaster.
Big news for Ukraine, the EU has accepted to start the membership process (but it won't be fast tracked):-
Not even surprised. Reportedly, those freedom truckers who also love Q, love Putin, and love that he is, among other things, getting rid of the 'adrenochrome harvesting areas'
The Kremlin has had the rednecks wrapped around their finger for years with these conspiracies.
From what I understand it's a utterly meaningless gesture as Ukraine is in no position to even consider joining the EU just yet. And from reading the Twitter thread it can take up until 10 years for a country too. Put everything in order in terms of making sure that their laws are in sync with those of the EU also, it helps if you have a stable government and the various administrators needed to implement all of the changes required.
Does anybody know any more about the supposed 40,000 plus Ukrainian military being surrounded in the Donbas region I'm curious if there are any trustworthy reports on that.
Indeed at this point it is nothing more than symbolic, but, just another sign of EU unity with Ukraine which Putin will not like, I would expect plenty if propaganda later from the Kremlin on the issue.
It's bizarre how so many people are making the Russian invasion of Ukraine a venue for western political grievances to be played out.
There's a thread in the Cool vids & pics & links forum titled "political satire" and since this invasion began it has been filled to the brim with "hilarious" cartoons and memes aiming the blame for this situation squarely at the feet of either side of the American political aisle.
I'm sure the people desperately fleeing for their lives from Russian shelling are keeping the issue of whether Trump caused their plight because he's such a b*star or if it's down to Biden's supposedly deteriorating mental state. They are cursing the tiny number of rednecks who believe conspiracy theories as they mourn their dead.
The hubris of people pushing this type of nonsense as even partially relevant to the actions of a man who has been in power for two decades and has gone unchecked by four American presidents not to mention multiple leaders of other western democracies is matched only by Putin himself.
The world doesn't revolve solely around the childish behavior that passes for political discourse in the west these days.
It may be slow. But its a BIG fućk you to Russia
Been a fan of Tottenham I feel for the treatment the Chelsea fans are getting.
Worth a read for anyone considering joining the fight against the Russians in Ukraine or if you know someone who is thinking about doing it. And read the highlighted text in one of the images.
From his description of how he was treated it seems the Ukrainians aren't the saints that some want to paint them as.
What did he think he was getting involved in? A children's birthday party? Tool.
It is easy to check the bullsh*t you are being fed you know
It's war.
This happens in war when the enemy is captured. They didn't put a bullet in his head.
Anyone that doesn’t realise that that goes on by any side in any war is naive imo.
Another bullet catcher on his way to the combat zone, but this time he's Irish. I'm sure he was mentioned on here before but just in case anybody forgot.
how do people feel about him wearing Irish tricolours so prominently displayed on his clothes?
Also am I the only one who finds his backstory a little bit fishy? I can buy the experience with the French foreign legion but I'm not convinced on the supposed experience with the Latvian special forces.
story says he did some training with Lithuanian special forces
Just on that man displaying the tricolour on his outfit I doubt the Irish army are too impressed.
Huge amount of drip drip other side anti Ukraine information coming from you on this thread and its increasing by the day.
Mostly under the guide of 'I'm just asking questions'
It's actually far less subtle then you think you it is.
Try harder!!
I'm not anti-Ukraine. I'm against violence in all its forms and I just want the war to end as quickly and with a little bloodshed as possible. I just think people should have a more realistic expectation of what is going on in the ground in the Ukraine. I feel we are getting an unrealistic picture of what is currently happening in Ukraine as I feel they are putting out a lot of propaganda that is being unchallenged and accepted without question.
Also the only reason I'm posting more now than I was previously is I have a day off so finally I can try and catch up with what is going on.
