fuel, food etc. many reasons for the stalling have been given, all part of the ruse
Yes, talk of biological weapons in Ukraine is nonsense - it's coming solely from the pro-Putin propaganda machine.
One analyst even predicted this last week, saying the Russian shysters would 'claim' they had discovered chemical or biological weapons inside Ukraine being readied for use to be dropped on Russia.
Even Hitler had popular support for a long time...the longer this goes on....the less he will have...and the more likely he will be overthrown/retired/taken out....it's how this kind of thing tends to play out eventually.
The economic sanctions are biting, the Russian bodies are piling up (or being cremated), there will be a heave ho, he is pissing off a lot of very rich and powerful Russians.
Don't worry, there's still plenty more war to go for you to cheer on and get excited by all the loud bangs and fancy rockets. My apologies for being optimistic about peace talks and hoping for an end to this. I guess you 'win'. Well done. Maybe another hospital will get hit tomorrow *can't contain the excitement*
Was uncle Albert in charge!?
There will be no direct intervention (but pretty much anything they can outside of that) until he invades a NATO country (I think he will be long gone before that) if he launches a nuke he is done and Russia will be isolated for decades.
I get that, but Putin - for all his faults - is pretty smart, and was the former head of the now FSB.
He understands perfectly well the existence of threats against his authority; and has acted accordingly. The idea that Putin can be taken out easily is absurd.
He's ridiculously protected; and he knows it.
I really don't think this is right on both counts (1. on Putin having decided that and 2. that NATO would not respond).
Nuclear is the threat, and to be honest he didnt even directly threaten it. Once you lose the threat its game over, if he uses Nukes the entire world including China will come down on him.
I think there is still that perception that Putin has lost his mind and is now suddenly capable of any kind of madness. Is he ruthless? Absolutely, was the war a serious miscalculation? Absolutely, but has he lost his mind and now him using nukes in Ukraine is a serious consideration, no way.
This invasion was not a moment of madness, there was a build up, a long one, in hindsight it looks like this was being planned for 2 years. It has gone horrible for him, he probably thought it would be at worst a slightly tougher version of Crimea.
I am not saying things could not escalate to that, but him using nukes without further escalation prior to it, no way.
I don't see how it's wrong for people, organisations, and companies to use whatever influence they might have to put pressure on Russia. I mean one of the pieces scheduled to be performed is literally celebrating Russia repelling Napoleon's invasion in the 19th century.
Incidentally the concert is still going ahead; they're just changing the pieces which are to be performed.
Last week tonight showed a segment on Russian TV aimed at kids explaining the "military operation"...genuinely insane
There would be an almost complete economic blockade if that were to happen, I couldn't see China condoning that behaviour either considering Russia is practically broke and not worth trying to trade with, especially after something like that. Very, very few countries would want to be seen dealing with them.
Then there's the increased risk of guerilla and insurgency within Russia if this were to happen. You'd be certain domestic terrorism would start to take hold to overthrow the government and Belarus would probably be first to fall. I would have no doubts in Western Intelligence agencies assisting in this as well since they'd be considered a rogue state.
The EU/NATO still don't have to get directly involved, he's already stretching it at home. A nuclear strike would certainly focus the minds of many, if that were to escalate any further then they could be next.
A lot of waffle in this thread about nukes. No nukes will be fired by Russia. Would be good if discussion was focused around grim reality of war rather than posters’ individual fantasies.
I don't think he is mad, he is clearly highly intelligent....but he is I genuinely believe a psychopath.
I never suggested taking him out would be easy did I? But I still think he either steps down or is taken out eventually.
You mean the nuclear weapon which Ukraine were secretly building in Kiev and which they themselves rigged in order to blame Russia?
I'm not sure what could destroy him at home if Russia being cut off from the rest of the world doesn't do it quite honestly.
putin might go big or go home and used the Tzar Bomba on Kyiv
Sure, that's a possible and likely possibility.
But Putin may just want to go down in flames, to hell with everyone and everything - including the EU and NATO.
Remember, this evil operation against Ukraine isn't just Putin; it's also his core Generals - all of whom are implicated.
These people are madmen; and would have no problem watching the world go up in flames because they have nothing to lose - except their ego.
So, where is Putin? Is he at his palace near the black sea or some bunker under Moscow?
Ask the guy in control of the green screen
Apropos of the bogus "biological weapons", the US Govt says it suspects the Russians could launch such an attack themselves and try and blame it on the Ukrainians.

Anything is possible but your scenario is extremely unlikely. Extremely unlikely. Bit silly really. He might as well shoot himself in the head.
I'd say he is rattling about in his tacky palace pining for his ex gymnast girlfriend (and the 4 kids) who are hiding out in Switzerland.
The most reasonable suggestion I've heard so far is that the convoy is essentially Russia's main operating base for the Kyiv region. They have centralised stores of fuel, ammunition, and supplies; protected by less mobile air defences which couldn't effectively cover a rapidly moving convoy otherwise.
In the Kremlin
Right.
And in the months of build-up toward this disgusting invasion of Ukraine, people said that Russia/Putin wouldn't do it.
They did.
And crossed a red line, and Putin knows it.
The idea that Putin can go back to G8 meetings and so forth, is absurd.
Putin knows exactly what he's doing, and this act of invading Ukraine is just the beginning of a wider European War, and potentially, nuclear war.
He's a sick man.
I see 3M are latest to suspend business in Russia.
Others who did similar today, Nestle as well as tobacco brands Philip Morris and Imperial Brands
Given the amount of corruption with Generals and high ranking officers selling fuel and equipment over the years then no, I get the feeling they're a bunch of sycophants that told Putin what he wanted to hear while thinking he'd never want to try and take the entire country. Now they've been exposed for their corruption, Putin has been exposed for surrounding himself with yes men and people who just shouldn't be advising anyone and a bunch of oligarchs wondering why this 3 day special operation to secure them more oil and gas has started to cost them dearly.
interesting suggestion, like when a colony of army ants are on the move and the queen is always covered and protected, the colony can even float like a vessel until they reach solid ground
The nightclub in Belfast
I would seriously expect that his whereabouts are known to various intelligence agencies and I also expect that the only chance Russia has of regaining acceptance into the civilised world is for putin to be either killed or locked up.
Isn't it a terrible pity that nuclear weapons were ever developed in the first place. Is there a better example of human folly?
