those 3 are so far removed from the real world its frightening
Like everyone else, I'm concerned about the increase in the price of green diesel and indeed all the other fuels. However, I must reply to some of the comments here. If any of you knew anything about the price of green diesel, you would know that currently the excise rate is less than 5 cent a litre. This compares to 54 cent a litre for petrol. So, the very most th Government could cut excise on green diesel was 5 cent a litre.
Are your sure of the 5 cent? Is that including the carbon tax?
Don’t suppose you know how much of the price of a litre of green diesel, petrol and white diesel does the carbon tax account for?
Almost 100% sure. Why do you think there is such a difference in price between green diesel and motor diesel. Its the same product apart from the dye. Its one of the many concessions the agri industry (rightly so) have. But of course they still moan. The carbon tax (Don't get me started on the Greens) is approx 9 cent a litre for green diesel and regular diesel and petrol.
From March 2021:
The main agriculture exposure to excise duty comes from the fuel inputs primarily through the use of marked gas oil, which is also commonly referred to as green diesel, farm diesel or agricultural diesel. Marked gas oil is currently subject to a rate of mineral oil tax of 11.8 cent per litre. This compares to the current full rate of mineral oil tax for auto diesel used as a propellant of 51.5 cent per litre.
Would the option of allowing the vat be reclaimed similar to capital allowances be worthwhile for farmers. This would suit the smaller operator. Unfortunately it wouldn't help the contractor or larger tillage farmer. Every little helps
Green diesel at €1.89 / litre now 😲
Thank goodness for the announcement today, otherwise it would be €1.91.
There's hope yet. UAE is in favour of going to OPEC and ask for an increase in supply

€1.60 was the highest I heard. If it’s €1.89 then for anyone registered for vat white diesel would actually be cheaper than green.
Green at €1.89 = €1.665 plus 13.5% vat.
White at €2.00 = €1.626 plus 23% vat.
We're getting a lot back already on our produce, the difference isn't really worth fighting for.
Green diesel 111 c/l at the pump at the local filling station, only a few of us seem to know, i wonder how much is left in the tank🤔🤔
Everyone knows now ...
Up to 160c/l now, only allowed 50 litres🙈🙈
Keep an eye on whether SIPTU lets this ship in to Dublin port, or not.

And use 540E as well
Yea but also shows Irelands diesel was coming from Russia.
I'm wondering what percentage of Irelands fuel overall comes from there.
Probably only in the coming weeks we will truly know.
Do I take it from the port call list that it stopped in tue U.K. and unloaded some fuel ??
The official figure is 40%
Pretty big. Would lead to a major scarcity of it at the pumps here for some time until a good steady deal and supply is done elsewhere.
The outcome of the meeting yesterday says it all really for Europe and its dependency on Russian oil.
Road diesel was not available in 2 of the 5 filling stations in town today, 2 major brand stations as well.
Filled my car today @ 1.89 cpl
Did it hurt
Wasn't too bad local shop 2.02 atm.
Shes still off the coast
Apparently that ship of oil is already paid for so Russia has already gotten it gain for it.
Go long would it keep us going for I wonder? Let it dock to f**k and thank them on their way out. Lots of would have should have could haves about the whole thing but we need the fuel!!!!!!
where else can deals be done quickly? Could America ship it over quickly? Or any African countries?
How much fuel or fertiliser can a boat hold?
The ship off Dublin can hold 24k tonnes of cargo
