I'd start at the bit where he has military trainig. According to the Ukraine government, after watching a bit of news, 20,000 people have gone to Ukraine to join the fight.
Apparently this is illegal under the Russian constitution.
He will be what is euphemistically called "a bullet catcher".
The Russians had their own Afghanistan crap and it pretty much led to 911 and the war on terror and all that guff. Another proxy war. As was Vietnam and Syria. And I'd protest all of them, but today, at this moment it's the Russian twats that are doing the invasion and butchery.
Truly horrendous. To think that Italy allowed Putin's young flexible partner to have his baby in a swish clinic there.
Queue in front of Turkish Airlines office at Valova street, Moscow.
Jaysus, the NLAW looks pretty crap now when you see the numbers.
Followed this guy, just before the conflict he released a video "explaining" the Ukraine situation (it was similar to Russia lines), I see that video is now gone
I wouldn't expect many changes to Ru prices or supply issues at the mo, but will be interesting to see the situation a few months down the line. Not really into his political views, but his survival videos are good and hopefully he keeps producing updates on this
Oooh, not in that colour, know what I mean? I can do you a part-ex on a mini metro though.
I don't think countries that grow significant quantities of wheat would have any flexibility or capacity to increase production. I'ts mostly down to the weather. A country like AUstralia doesn't deliberately under produce so much as a bushel.
He was in the territorial army, their version of the FCA. An old foreign civilian has no place in a war zone, they are just a hindrance.
A dictator who was handed power and allowed to retain that power in part due to the support of the Russian people.
Personally I find it hard to dredge up much sympathy for Russian people who still aren't willing to speak out whilst simultaneously making a living in other nations and then complaining when that income stream is disrupted.
I do agree that we need to careful not to alienate or attack Russians purely because of their nationality however; and in particular to try and avoid giving the Kremlin too much ammunition to use for hardening opposition internally to the West.
They won't let illegaliites, lawfulness or indeed any moral compasses get in their way.
see not all bad..
There's quite a bit involved though in switching from one type of farming to another and it's not easily (or cheaply) done. Just considering Ireland for example (and I'm no expert so open to correction on any of these points):
I'm sure there are other possible issues but the above hopefully explains why it's not a simple or attractive endeavour for most farmers. That's not to say that it's impossible but a comprehensive plan from govt would be required to make it happen
Seems to be a video of that location, some devastation there anyway. Unverified by other sources.
Yes, he is ex military and was certain Russia wouldn't invade. He apologised for it after and then took down all the videos. He obviously still has YouTube.
You're excused ;)
Fairly simple answer is that our climate, topography and soils are generally not favourable to tillage / growing commercial grain crops such as wheat.
Teagasc figures show that just 23.4pc of the country’s land is highly suitable/suitable for tillage and 11.7pc ‘moderately suitable’.

The grain we do grow best is mainly barley and oats. Commercial wheat grown here, whilst growing successfully contains low levels of gluten due to sub-optimal climate conditions and is not suitable for bread flour.
Good news is that Ireland is the most food secure country globally overall and we can adapt.

Exactly. We can grow wheat, its just really crap wheat
It has probably been discussed already, but the Chernobyl stuff is actually insane
They didn't show the most important number
NLAW - $30,000
Javelin - $175,000
It'll be easier to spin the performance of their armed forces if they try to push the blame onto conscripts I imagine. Or that any subsequent withdrawal was in part "to protect the valued conscripts of the Soviet Unio... I mean Russia".
I hope the investigation is why you voted against.
No surprise that Ukraine favoured economic ties with Europe rather than Russia
I've seen a few videos, it's absolutely brutal.
How Putin and his inner circle expect Russia to be accepted in the international community after the likes of this is beyond me.
Or weight. The average soldier can carry one Javelin or two NLAWs
Jeez.
You cant move away from this thread.
When you come back there's like 6, 10, 12, or more pages to wade through. And you have to read them all or you lose the gist of what's relevant, breaking, topical, and the odd gem of a post. Trouble is once you've read a page there's suddenly two more added on.
I have to say that having read, and contributed to this thread since the beginning, I feel I'm on top of what's happening hour by hour because of the great input by many Boards members (plus with one eye on BBC News of course). Leaves you little time to do much else.
To those who might miss my input on other Boards threads... I'm sorry, but haven't you heard: There's a war on.
Jeez, the two of them wouldn't look out of place in a council estate with sulkies racing by.
Individual opera singers and football players shouldn't have to divulge their political opinions or pass tests in the first place.
The Met Opera and others are showing what they really think of their cultural mission by their willingness to give ultimatums and disemploy. They should be protecting their people from philistines who see culture as an instrument of politics. Instead they are the culture-wreckers.
The covid thing corrupted so many, this reaction is a continuation of that.
