How about an actual weighted penalty.
Instead of grid penalty. The car has 5kg or other such number of weights added to the minimum weight of the car and driver.
Ah stop. They already have harsher penalties like drive through and stop/go penalties. Wait until the first race where there are several penalties and fans would switch to hating the new draconian penalties and asking why there can't be nuanced penalties that reflect a small breach of the rules.
I know F1 fans like a big reaction, but let's not pretend this would solve any problems without just creating a new problem.
I do think Mercedes did step over the line with the amount of engines they used last year. The penalty isnt enough for them, even the commentators mention how drivers get out of the way when the likes of Lewis or Max for that matter are coming through as thats not who they are racing, so any driver starting at the back knows he will meet little resistence, even Mclaren and Ferrai were getting out of the way last year along with Alpine...so maybe a non safety engine replacement (so a crash etc would be allowed a change) over and above allocated engines for the season might result in a 1 lap penalty, would probably mean still a top 10 finish but its an actual penalty.

Anyone planning to go to any races this year? I'm trying to get ducks in a row to start booking this week, gonna try to get to at least 3 in Europe and I was planning to be in America round the time of the Miami race.
Maybe it's lost in translation but the Corriere newspaper in Italy reported about Mercedes having no side pods. I presume it means a very skinny side profile rather than no side pods at all.

Nice! I don't think I'll be going to Monaco (hopefully Spain the week before) but am targetting Zandvoort to either do Spa the week before with it or Monza the week after. :P Looking at Imola but ticket prices have gone up a good bit as have flights, so I may have missed the boat on that one.
There shouldn't be any complaints that the safety car isn't going fast enough anymore.

Last pre-season test will be at Bahrain tomorrow the 10th (Thursday) until the 12th (Saturday). First qualifying session of the season will be on the following Saturday.
Looking forward to the sidepod, or lack of them, discussions tomorrow if the Merc rumors are true.
The rumours about Mercedes sidepods sounded ridiculous but some reputable journalists are picking them up so it must be coming from somewhere. Not long until we find out anyway.

The-Race is another good one. Gary Anderson is good at explaining what's happening. The-Race podcasts are good. Anderson has lots of nostalgic trips down memory lane about the shenanigans that went on at Jordan.

we all know that Mazepin was effectively a "relatively" mobile chicane last season and without Daddy's money would not have been in F1 but if it is true about how he was dumped by Haas I feel for the guy. There are ways of doing things and how they have done it is not a nice way of doing it.
