I assume that the Russians are tracking every media outlet- possibly including Boards- to Glenn any piece of useful information . So , in this vein, the question Marco Rubio asked in the US senate beggars belief . It the type of thing that gives the Russians more opportunities for red flags
The 20-year-old, who attached to his shirt the letter "Z" - widely seen on the sides of Russian tanks in Ukraine - told Russia Today: "If there was a second chance and I had a choice whether to go out with the letter 'Z' on my chest or not, I would do the same.

"I saw it on our military and looked at what this symbol means.
"It turned out to be 'for victory' and 'for peace'. I just wanted to show my position"
I would call him a little **** but most likley he's repeating what he hears around him.
Russia has a very low level of debt and even lower levels of external debt.
A default here is not going to be near the same consequences of say a western nation defaulting
Nothing says for peace more than a tank firing on civilians in a country you are invading...
Why would the US have labs in Ukraine? A nation with high levels of corruption, political instability over the last ten years, including a Russian invasion before this one and an ongoing civil war in the East. Makes zero sense that I can see.
They're besmirching Zorro anyway with all that "Z" fascist bull.
Putin has managed to do the impossible, Democrats and Republicans agreeing on something. The Dems went in to get a agreement to earmark 10 billion for Ukraine (and nearby countries), the bipartisan support was so strong it climbed to 13.6 billion
Latest figures on Russia armor and equipment losses (visual confirmation)
Surprisingly strong feelings about this in the US
As mentioned, next few days are crucial
US intelligence believes that RU has lost about 5% of the equipment that they brought with them.
It's important to put these kind of figures in context.
Decent independent assessment of the situation here, they suspect Russian forces will use a slow surround and siege technique with Kyiv
The UK and US are a bunch of cowards,
"The US and UK responses in the face of Russia’s recent aggression have been limited. Both countries offered Ukraine financing, military equipment and training and have applied increasingly strict sanctions on Russia. But they have ruled out any direct intervention, such as imposing no-fly zones over Ukraine, for fear of being dragged into a war with Russia. While this limited response fulfils the letter of the US and UK’s commitments under the Budapest Memorandum, the impression that emerges is very much that Ukraine was left on its own to fight an unlawful, nuclear-capable aggressor.
It is unsurprising, perhaps, that some Ukrainian leaders and the public feel betrayed and consider that the security assurances they received in the Budapest Memorandum are not worth the paper they were written on.''

He is a child, and behaving as such, in a pathetic display of patriotism. Perhaps he feels he has no choice. And perhaps he doesnt. I said previously that the Z symbol, may be used as a way to distinguish those who support the Regime, from those who dont
Its a disgrace of course - bewilderingly so
Absolutely they are, monitoring here and many other message boards around the world. Incredibly cheap form of surveillance looking for weaknesses and public opinions to exploit. What we are seeing here is an absolute bombardment of propaganda the likes of which we have never been exposed to from both sides. We should be incredibly vigilant with the information we consume over the next few weeks. We have already seen what can happen when you are exposed to continuous pictures of dead Ukrainian children a la the Russian Embassy attack. The west/Ukrainian is obviously light years ahead with their media presence but the Russians are quite devious as well. We saw Russian soldiers pose as rebel insurgents in Crimea to make the Crimean invasion have more legitimacy. It wouldn't be difficult for them to pose as Irish people in message and engage in 'friendly' debate to eke out our opinions and knowledge. Obviously there are actual Irish geebags who just love a good belligerent argument but nefarious forces are at work at every angle here. Pushing us to abandon neutrality, Radicalising sane people to take up arms in a foreign country etc.
Immigration in to Britain, bogus asylum seekers, over the last 20 years has really abused the system, crapped down on people, especially the working class.
Can't blame them for being skeptical that it will just be abused again.
Ironically it is at the time when we have the first genuine Refugee crisis in 30 years.
Russia last year accounted for about 3 percent of U.S. foreign imports of crude oil, and about 1 percent of the U.S. supply overall.
Its just for show .... pathetic
Absolutely, but keep in mind, that's 5% in 2 weeks, which is utterly astonishing losses for a military superpower. It's an unlikely rate but if it were kept up, that would be 20% by the end of next month.
As for casualties, the most conservative estimates put Russian combat fatalities at around 3,000. Which is more than the US lost in two decades in Afghanistan.
Any body think the squabbling about "no fly zone" and "supplying migs" is actually cover. By hook or by crook they will get those migs. Is it just a ploy to give Moscow a false sense that things are falling apart.
Could Putin just pull out and say "yeah job done we killed the nazis" and then start rebuilding trade with the west(obviously with reparations to the Ukrainians).
Right now it seems untenable and non viable to continue with this war both politically and financially. Currently they have only taken KHerson. Even after they have shelled cities to bits the troops will still be afraid to go in and secure the area.
I've just seen Makharova in Moscow saying that Americans have been developing chemical weapons in Ukraine. She is so full of sheet. She definitely needs a one way to the Hague.
Indeed but as an exporter, they need to deal with international finance, and a near-default or default rating impacts so many aspects of that. Simply handling foreign currencies will be a nightmare for them, and their domestic currency is highly volatile and plunging, not to mention highly toxic to any external holders. Putin has already enacted a law to seize (steal) money from Russians, it's incredible.
The low level of Russian debt is a benefit to western nations in the event of a default. It would be much worse if they had enormous debt and defaulted.
Depends on Putin and his close associates doesn't it? Can he back away having gone this far? I'm not sure, unless his arm is twisted. The Ukrainians are not in the mood for total surrender as Russia demands, not having taken this much damage and loss. So not a great look out. However it goes though, you'd have to think that Putin is yesterdays man in Russia - no win here for him at all and only bad outcomes.
only as a result of the use or threat of use of nuclear weapons against Ukraine.
Indeed, on top of that it's estimated we have close to 1 trillion dollars worth of their foreign assets locked up. I believe there's already another law gone through whereby the Kremlin can "seize" foreign currencies over a certain amount from Russians.
IMHO both the no fly zone and the Migs are distractions and dead ends. Both would escalate and widen the potential for open warfare and give putin a propaganda victory with his subjects. The no fly zone would mean Western/US/Nato shoot downs of Russian aircraft. Not going to happen. The West has already given the Ukrainians missiles and intel to reduce the airborne threat. The Polish Migs are out of date, but even if they weren't jet fighters are scarily complex and vulnerable systems that need crazy levels of support, never mind airfields, weapons and fuel. This is not a squadron of Spitfires you fill with petrol and bullets and take off from a field. And you have the problem of comms on the ground. At the moment anything flying is fair game for Ukrainian AA fire. Add Ukrainian Migs into the mix and that gets a lot more confused. IMHO Their actual usefulness would be marginal beyond the psychological and the risks attached to them not worth it.
They'd need more than umbrellas there Rihanna
Biological Threat Reduction Program
Unfortunately the PDF's have been removed from the US Embassy's website, maybe just a coincidence but wayback machine has them saved.
This is the one from Kharkiv and everyone one of them was funded by the USA Department of Defence

Russians will make hay domestically with the “US biological programmes” on their border claims. Playbook 101.
